Incredible book shop - probably contains every book you'd ever need. It's absolutely enormous and we easily spent an hour in there after thinking we'd 'just pop in for a look'.

The staff were also very friendly and there is a cafe inside the shop (so no reason to ever leave).

Worth a visit just to see the incredible number of books on each floor. We also enjoyed looking at the rare book displays scattered through the store.

To enter Blackwell's is to enter another world. In a world where you can truly believe that no matter what book you are looking for, it will be there.
Because of its dimensions, several floors with a cafeteria included, and its catalog, it might as well look like a library.

Wandering through its rooms and shelves, letting yourself be carried away among diverse literature and the most exotic subjects, is a truly pleasant experience for anyone who loves books and the atmosphere they create.

Whether you buy or not, it is a place to see and enjoy.

what sets Blackwell’s Bookshop apart is its dog-friendly approach. Both locations in Oxford warmly welcome four-legged friends, recognizing the joy and companionship they bring to our lives. Whether you’re browsing the shelves for a new read or seeking a musical masterpiece, you can do so with your beloved canine companion by your side.

This is a must-go place in Oxford. The bookshop is vast inside - never underestimate it from outside :) If you love books, you can spend a whole day here, or in fact a number of days browsing and reading interesting books from amateur to professional levels in all subjects.

There is a Caffe Nero inside and it also provides a superb space to enjoy coffee + books + work.

Blackwall’s is an excellent bookshop, with very helpful staff, that was easy to find. My sister was able to give a wonderful talk here two weeks ago. Thank for hosting her and making her and her colleagues so welcome.

Lovely and large bookshop, with a fantastic rare and antiquated books section upstairs which alone is worth a visit. Visited on a trip to Oxford and there was a bomb threat called in nearby. The shop staff were very calm and asked us to remain in the shop, then when the police decided to evacuate the area the staff were again very calm and helpful getting everyone out.
There's a separate shop next door for music, and one down the street for comics, sci FI, and board games.

Large bookshop in Oxford. Unfortunately they were in the middle of renovation/remodeling, so lots of books/sections were missing but they remain open. The secondhand book section was no longer there either (some staff told me they no longer plan to sell secondhand books anymore). Nevertheless they still have large collections of books, fiction and nonfictions to shop and often host talks and seminars. Highly recommended to visit if you are in the area/book lovers!

Wow! I could have spent all day in this shop. It is, I’m told, the largest bookshop in Europe, do not be misled by the cute little entrance, there are miles of books, over 3 miles apparently. It is easy to move around in, plenty of ramps if you want to avoid stairs. Seating if you want to pause and read. Reasonably priced classics, and lots of new releases in the fiction section. Huge academic section
Brilliant!!!

The most beautiful bookshop I've ever seen. It's so huge and well supplied with books of so many genres. It's definitely a place I recommend for bookaholics. It also has a café inside, located to the upper floor.

The best bookstore so far! The Norrington Room in the basement is huge! Even bigger than the ground floor! They have an abundance collection of books. They also have long wooden tables for customers to read their books. It’s just pure book heaven for book lovers out there.

It's not just a bookshop - it's history in itself.
Having lived in Oxford now for more than 6 months, I have been visiting the bookshop whenever I get time. The bookshop was opened in 1879 and continues to only grow in size and stature.

Earlier, I used to buy books from Amazon, but ever since I came to Oxford, I visit Blackwell's and spend hours - sometimes the entire day there reading and exploring different books.

Of special interest for everyone - especially tourists - is the Norrington room that is underground and the Trinity college campus is above it. It was the largest single room of bookshop in world and was in Guinness book record for a long long time.

There are hundreds of thousands of books in Blackwell's and there is hardly a section that you can not find. On their top floor is a section where you can find rare, old books.

Don’t be fooled by the unassuming exterior of the shop as this bookshop is MASSIVE. In fact, it is a likely contender to the largest bookshop in the UK. Consisting of more than five kilometres of shelving and an unbelievable amount of books, anyone would be able to find a book they would love here. A must see if you’re visiting Oxford.

What a nice and beautiful but also BIG, no better HUGH bookstore this store.
It has multiple levels and in the basement... Wow what a surprise. All kind of books of course but with different levels and stairs and the silence there is just amazing. Such a nice place to be.

Immy in the children’s section was absolutely fantastic, they talked to me about loads of books we had in common and gave me a great recommendation with Inkheart. A gorgeous bookshop with great staff. Thank you :)

A must visit on a trip to Oxford, it being known as the oldest book shop in UK.
It has old school book shelves stacked on multi level floor in the lower floor. That was beautiful. Hence posting pics also for reference.

A very interesting tour. An enormous amount of books, they are also able to order in books for you. A very friendly atmosphere, the norrington room is a must see. They have a huge collection of Oxford university Short Introductions books. They have some historical/rare books for sale, and a café. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Oxford.

Wow!!

A unique bookshop experience of note! It’s actually more like a library.

I’ve never been to another bookshop with such history and so well organised!
Their philosophy is for shop assistants not to bother you unless you ask for help so you’re welcome to browse and pick up any book you see.

The only problem is that it’s so big that you lose track of time. You can end up spending hours in the store!

Brilliant 👏 👏 I could live here. It's so inspiring to be where all the magic happened, Narnia, Alice, The Hobbitt and then go and sit amongst the written word. Lots of levels and passages to explore. Thankfully there is a Cafe to recharge from all of those books. The prices are normal i.e not inflated. Staff are very friendly. There are some great talks on as well. Tomorrow is William Boyd which is a shame because I will miss it and I'm reading "The Romantic" right now.
