Ian the Electrician

We moved to the area 6 months ago and contacted Ian to upgrade ‘most’ of our electrical installation in our home.

We have found Ian to be one of the best electricians we have dealt with as home owners for 40+ years. He is extremely professional
whilst being sympathetic to the needs of the house and us as clients.

He is meticulous in all works and always manages to fit us in with when we call him.

I cannot recommend Ian highly enough both as a professional and a thoroughly nice guy.

Excellent electrition and very experienced. Fitted two ceiling fans in bedrooms and ceiling light in dinning room. Very neat and tidy worker, very sociable and answer any questions. Would definitely recommend Ian.

One of my ageing storage radiators was dead. Ian came to check it really promptly despite being really busy, and gave me all possible options (replace with new storage rad/ fit a different type of heater / try repair) and advised regarding costs and efficiency. He was incredibly helpful and had ordered parts, fitted them and fixed it within a few days.
He didn't just leave me with a warm house, it was positively GLOWING from the delight of encountering a skilled tradesman who cared enough to check the next day that all was well.
It's rare to find someone so pleasant with such dedication and obvious expertise. A true hero.

Ian has always been extremely reliable and an excellent workman. He has a ‘can do’ approach balanced with being honest when something is beyond repair. Very fair pricing. Extremely trustworthy and I have always been happy to leave him in the house. He is equally excellent working alongside other tradesmen. I would highly recommend Ian.

Excellent general repair work plus new consumer unit fitted. Ian is very efficient and thorough, even provided a power source to keep the kettle going whilst he swapped the consumer unit out. Very friendly, trustworthy, knowledgeable, punctual electrician and is highly recommended!

I cannot recommend Ian enough. He is beyond amazing. He is knowledgeable, professional, friendly and very thorough. We needed a fair bit of work done, perhaps more than was initially anticipated with some hiccups along the way but Ian took it all in his stride. Problem solved quickly and implemented unexpected workarounds and added a new double socket much to my delight!! I feel confident in Ian's work and content that I now have safe electrics in the house! Ian's pricing is VERY fair and one thing I have learned is that you can opt for the big companies like B&Q to come do work on your property but it doesn't guarantee you high quality work (or safe!). It was a pleasure to have ian around and I feel I have learned a little about the house and its electrics now which I feel glad about. Thank you Ian! This is the first time we have used Ian. He arrived on time and was very pleasant and friendly. He did a very professional job, with minimal mess and disruption and cleaned up after himself. We are very happy with the electical installation he put in within the timescale he promised and at a very reasonable price. Altogether a very professional job. We would definitely use him again.

Reviewed on behalf of my mum. Ian completed a full rewire and other additional odd jobs on my mums old house over the years, she was incredibly pleased with the work carried out, the timescale and cost of the work completed. Ian was left with the keys for the house to come and go as he pleased as he is such a trustworthy, professional and reliable person. Couldn't recommend highly enough, notts loss is cumbrias gain as someone else mentioned. Top guy.

Ian has carried out electrical work in my house and workshop for the last 10 years . Work has included complete checks of all electrical works and PAT testing. Installing lighting, extractor fan, electric shower. Replacing external weathered cables and also wiring a 3 phase converter to my lathe. All work has been done to an excellent standard. I also rented my house for some years and Ian did all the necessary electrical checks and any work needed by the tenants. I have found his communication and manner very good, He is very knowledgeable, trustworthy and I would highly recommend him as an electrician.

We have used Ian for a couple of years now for certificates and repairs for our rental properties. We always found him to very reliable and efficient . Turned up when arranged every time and completed a first class job - we are very sorry to have lost him due to his relocation.

Ian is a down to earth guy who is an honest tradesman and for years has been our go-to electrician. Ian has rewired new mains around our lounge / diner, along with down lights; wired in batton lights and mains into our loft space; and moved an over-night storage heater or two around the bedrooms. This work has stood to usage of up to three years so far.
Ian has always been punctual and gentlemanly, and whilst I think there are lower cost electricians around, I know from experience what 'cheap labour' ultimately comes with.
Ian is an easy five star tradesman whom I am happy to recommend.

I have been renovating an old property in the Duddon Vally which required a rewire. A difficult job due to the 2 foot thick internal stone walls. All work was conducted in a manner that was sympathic to the building and to a hi standard. Ian is also friendly, intelligent and trustworthy to the point I was happy to just leave him the keys to get on with it. In summary, I am very happy with the work, the price and the ease of dealing with Ian.

I cannot speak highly enough of Ian. He has carried out a number of electrical jobs for me when he was operating in Nottinghamshire and proved to be honest, reliable, diligent and very professional. He does not mess you about. Notts loss is Cumbria's gain and I recommend Ian highly.

Every time we listened to Ian at any jazz venue he has played and sang brilliantly but just as importantly, perhaps more so, we cannot fault his Positive atitutude to his work, that complete lack of Negativity once a plan of approach had been decided and he exudes that Earthy humourous approach only a Lancastrian can deliver while he works. Give him a job. You wont be disappointed.
