The best doughnuts I've ever tastes. Hardest bit about coming here is having to narrow down your choice of which one to try. Today we had the fresh cream and strawberries and they were put of this world. The doughnut was so soft and plenty of cream and strawberries on it. We both had a cup of tea and it's refreshing to find somewhere that actually makes a lovely hot cup of tea. Then to top it off the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Definitely a place I will keep on returning to.

I've been wanting to go here for ages and I wasn't disappointed. The mill was fascinating to look round. I haven't included photos inside because you should go and look yourself! The roundhouses were awe inspiring; amazing to see how sophisticated these dwellings were at a time when we risk thinking of people as primitive. The model animal safari was also really cool.

A really interesting place to visit, the buildings showing some of the history of the area and restored so we are able to get an idea of what is was like in times gone by. Also the owner, Richard Holt, is a very hands on proprietor who whilst his cafe is closed has set up a successful new Welsh chocolate and Gin businesses on the site. We were given a tour and background to this new chocolate venture and it was fascinating to see how this entrepreneur has overcome the challenges of the pandemic to create jobs for the local community at a very trying time. Wish him every success and look forward to returning to try the patisseries in the cafe when open.

We went last Saturday 24/9/22
Wow! I’ve been wanting to come here for ages and this visit (i live in France) it was a must and a precious outing with mum .. Everyone was so very friendly and helpful 🥰. Everyone we saw staff wise had a huge smile and were really welcoming 🥰..they have a chair lift (if needed) to go up from the shop to the café where you find the fantastically yummy Mônuts ! Which was fantastic for my elderly mum , and very much appreciated.
And when we got up to the cafe The Mônut Ninja aka Aron offered mum a chair right in front of the counter so she could choose her Mônut (chocolate) .. that was so kind and yes the lemon and blueberry Mônut is out of this world 👍🏻👌🏻💕 Diolch for your advice Aron ☺
We also bought some of their super Siocled (very yummy ) and a lovely book about the straits and a Welsh dragon for my grandson in France
Melin Llynon is spotless inside and out… toilets are super clean and have everything you need (even a baby changing space and a disabled toilet) .
The windmill is amazing and they’re doing a fantastic job restoring it .
There is a super trail down to the round houses (unfortunately we didn’t go);but could here lots of laughter and kids and parents having fun 🥰.
So if you’ve never been .. go.. you won’t regret it.
Mr Mônut aka Mr Holt & family you are doing a fantastic job .. well done .. we’ll be back for sure 🥰

We've been waiting to come here all summer, but as we're local we thought we would wait until the summer crowds died down. Even with the holidays over, we missed out last weekend (we called to check if there were any monuts left before heading over!). So this weekend we made sure we got there for not long after 10am. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a friendly smile and lots of helpful info. We all loved the doughnuts, milkshakes and coffee was great too. Felt like a real treat! Yes they're more than you pay in *insert chain store here* but it feels great to support a local, family run business who put their heart and soul into things (3am starts!).

We also weren't expecting to spend so long looking around the windmill, roundhouses and doing the nature trail. We spent over 2 hrs enjoying ourselves!

It was well worth the trip.
Thank you Melin Llynon team.

Absolutely LOVE this place. Richard's passion and patisserie skills have rubbed off on the whole staff, who all exude enthusiasm. What great things are being done here. I learnt lots and will have to get back earlier to snare a Monut! Thoroughly recommended.

Absolutely loved this place. Richard is a fantastic host. Very knowledgeable, informative and engaging. The grounds are great too, especially the stone houses.

They are doing a fantastic job here, and well worth the entry fee for the tour of the windmill and grounds (my girlfriend thinks they don't charge enough!!!!)

Don't let yourself miss out on this!

Thanks guys!

Visited today. Mill under new ownership and cafe reopened today for the first time. Family run enterprise and the enthusiasm shines through. With a pastry chef at the helm consider your self spoilt in the fantasy themed cafe. Good luck Richard and crew you deserve every success there are so many possibilities to explore here.

Absolutely STUNNING. Very lovely and helpful staff. Mr Holt went round to everybody chatting to them which I thought was so sweet. The donuts were filled, soft, flavourful and mouth watering. The milkshakes were thick with cream and sprinkles. Can not wait to go again.

Couldn't fault the friendly staff and the car park attendant who has a wonderful knowledge of the site and its history. Although clearly busy he managed to tell us all about it and answer questions.
Sadly the mill was not operating today due to maintenance but it is still a definite place to visit if your out this way.
Absolutely amazing Iron Age settlement recreated at the rear of the site.
Small shop and cafe which is famous for its disgustingly good Monuts! Various flavoured ring and filled donuts made on site with proper ingredients not those flavourless things from supermarkets. These are full of sticky gooey delight!
Small entrance fee to go around the mill and Iron age huts but free to park and use the shop or cafe with ample seating on tables, benches or the grass. Dog friendly.
Disabled access is good with some small ledges to hop over and a wooden ramp up to the windmill, otherwise paved or flat hard grass which our wheelchair worked on without issue.
There is a step into the windmill however and no access for anyone who can not climb exceptionally steep stairs (almost a ladder) up the mill. Don't complain about it, these were built to work, not for pleasure!

A great preservation of the technology of the time, very interesting considering how simple technology never goes out of date and it is coming back into use today. There are some huts which show how people used to live.

I didn't even get into the car park let alone the shop entrance and I was welcomed by a friendly attendant who showed me to a parking space.

The shop/reception to the windmill offered a small selection of gin and chocolate. The gin made locally and chocolate on site.

The entrance assistant was really nice and welcoming, giving us guidance and information about the windmill, safari and roundhouses.

The exhibits had plenty of interesting historical information and safari offered a game for children (small and large...the large being my dad) where they win a sticker and lollipop.

The cafe at present is takeaway only, but worth the purchase of refreshments and donuts, which are outstanding.

A highly recommended visit. The roundhouses are set up suggesting activities occur in there. It will be great to return in the summer to see what they do.

Thanks for a great few hours. I'd love to see the windmill in full operation again.

See you again soon.
