Spectacular little place! Free flying butterflies of many different varieties and colours. They would happily land on your body or crawl onto your finger. A few other creatures to see also (fish tanks, stick insects, tarantula, scorpion etc) and staff were friendly. Would highly recommend for a quick visit!

Lovely few hours here on Easter Monday. Kids loved it, magical experience. All the staff were friendly and extremely knowledgeable.

Absolutely delightful.
This was the highlight of our trip to Wales! We went with our 2 year old and 4 month old and it was MAGICAL! The 2 year old absolutely adored it and so did me and my partner. A butterfly landed on my 4 month baby's head and rested there for ages, it was a memory I'll always treasure! They were super chill about me breastfeeding bubs in the sling and walking about and engaged with my toddler well.

The staff were absolutely lovely and the thought and care that goes into this place makes it a really, really special place.

The location is stunning and it's buggy and wheelchair friendly. There is a cafe next door that does drinks and sandwiches (no hot food) and plenty of room for a picnic.

Not very big place but some fantastic butterflies free flying, it gets very warm in polytunnel and you may get some misting. But overall definitely worth a visit,as it's right next to a reservoir. Please pay attention to the directions on website follow those and you will not get lost

Amazing place to visit. Me and my 5 year old loved it so much we went back again the same week. I think the price is fair considering you can stay as long as you want, or go out and come back in as often as you like. The cost looks after these beautiful butterflies and you get to hold them. Outside is beautiful too. I would definitely go back again

I haven't been here for 8 years but still enjoyable experience. The staff really know about the animals and friendly service. Even got to hold the insects and know about them.
There are some more animals to enjoy, such as dart frogs, tarantula, gaint millipede, and fish tank.
The butterfly farm does get hot, which is expected, but you are able to come out and go back in.
Fairly priced on the tickets, considering the amount of work that it needs. Would be ideal if they offer a family ticket.
There is a shop where you can buy all sorts from badges, jewellery, tops, pictures and many more.
Outside, they have a beautiful garden to enjoy. They now have a visitor centre with a cafe and toilets, which is ideal. The cafe has some good food and drink options such as hot drinks to cold drinks, cakes, sandwiches, and a pre packed lunch box, which are great for the kids.
Would definitely go again when in the area.

Came with my husband at 10am and it was amazing, the butterflies were just waking up and they all sort of emerged from nowhere. Really lovely experience. Beautiful butterflies and interesting insects in the gift shop area.
Would recommend a visit.

What an amazing experience. Went as a large group and we didn’t have to wait to go inside.
A good amount of parking around with stunning views, walks and places to have a picnic.
A lovely little garden outside the house to have a look around with a number of different plants. When you go inside there is a nice little gift shop with a good variety of things to buy.
The staff are very kind and knowledgeable and explain how to get the butterflies to lang on you.
It is warm inside the house so leave your coat outside. But WOW what a beautiful experience it was. The butterflies are so calm and will gladly land on you. There are several different species that you can tick off as you walk around.
We spent a good half hour in the butterfly room the first time when went out and come back as the ticket is for all day.
Such a great place and will definitely go back. The price is so reasonable for the amount of hard work and dedication goes into looking after these beautiful butterflies and plants and also keeping the room warm.

Really cute place next to a reservoir. Cafe is closed but it's a sweet trip out with some really pretty butterflies and some creepy crawlies. Worth a visit. It's also the only place I know of where you can hold butterflies! A really great experience. They accept card, there was only us and 1 other couple. Please help support the butterflies. Price £29 for 3 adults and a 1 year old. That is more than reasonable for the upkeep of the place

Dog friendly... repeat Dog friendly...the butterflies were amazing, beautiful colours and you can pick them up...it's £9.00 to get in and we'll worth it. The staff are super knowledgeable and will talk you through what you want or need to know. Will definitely return. There is also a cafe available.

Kids loved this, the sugar water meant they had several butterflies on their fingers. My kids are typical tech heads, but this was the only place we visited twice during our week in Wales.
The staff were very friendly and outside there's benches for when you need to cool off after the heat.
A few people have mentioned the price, but I think it was well worth it, especially after reading about what goes into running the place.
Well worth a visit!

Not cheap for a time you spend in the building but... how often can you keep a butterfly on your hand? See a huge stick insect and other creatures (spiders and Scorpio and much more) not available in our everyday environment. We loved it.

Really enjoyed our visit here, must have been hundreds of different butterflies flying around. We took our time wandering around, identifying different types, and could even have them on our fingers. You probably wouldn't spend more than an hour or two here, but there's a nice Cafe on site and walks around the reservoir! Would recommend.

Absolutely great experience. The staff are all very knowledgeable and approachable. Inside the butterfly enclosure, there are loads of butterflies flying around and chasing eachother. One has to keep in mind the temperature and humidity has to be extremely high so you will be sweating.

We spent over an hour in there, we were just enjoying the wonderful feeling of being surrounded by carefree butterflies. Just because the enclosure is small, doesn't mean you have to only spend 5 mins in there. Make it worth your time and don't complain when you walk around one time and leave.

Out of all the butterfly sanctuaries ive been to, this place has the biggest collection! Beautiful gardens and tropical plants inside too, and the staff are lovely and willing to share their vast amounts of knowledge!

Great place, small, but packed with butterflies which will come and land on you while you are in there, entry tickets last the day, so you can go in, come back out to the visitor centre cafe, use the picnic benches, go for a walk round the reservoir and come back in to the butterflies later if you want. Also some other animals like tarantulas, giant snail, poisonous frogs etc when you go into the building to look at and a little gift shop

We had a great time here. Your able to hand feed the butterflies and hold them. The staff are fantastic and the manager is happy to chat. Everyone is really knowledgeable. We will be back another day with the children as they will love it here.

Lovely place to visit, small but had all you need for the work that the team do. Had other critters there but the main area were the butterflies. Staff were great in instructing how to get the butterflies on your hand and there are plenty of signage for facts and how to.

Loved this place! Wanted to spend the whole day there. It's not very big so don't expect rooms. It's one big greenhouse basically. Warm inside so make sure you don't wear to many layers!
For a small charity run business it's worth every penny. It's located just behind Rheidol visitor Centre and Cafe which is closed from September to April I believe. So no place to get a drink etc but you could always take a picnic and sit on the benches just outside the butterfly house and look out onto the reservoir and surroundings. Can't wait to go back

Beautiful experiance , really enjoyed it . I’ve read reviews before going that say things like “not worth the money” “in & out within an hour” . Yes you are in & out within an hour or so , the space is small & an hour is all you need to enjoy the lovely butterfly’s in there environment. However you do get your ticket access all day so if you feel you need to get your moneys worth you can go for a walk on the lovely grounds surrounding or go for a picnic in the garden and then pop back in again to see the butterfly’s . I would say it’s worth every pennie - your helping preserve the butterfly’s & getting a personal and up close experiance with them . This is not a fun filled family day out so don’t go if your expecting to be entertained for hours , it’s a space to enjoy the presence of butterfly’s then go about your day & £8 is not a massive pocket burner .
