I loved my visit! Probably not the best time to bird watch but those with binoculars still saw a fair few! The man at reception was lovely and engaging. Not many people on a Friday afternoon, which was peaceful, and a great opportunity to be immersed within the Welsh landscape. For 6 pounds, this was reasonable.

Beautiful nature reserve.
The staff were very helpful in picking the best route for us to use, given that the wheelchair has off-road tyres it made this more traversal, but it's nature, not pathways and a bit hilly in places! So if you're going to do the red route, then muscles will be needed! The drive going in looks one way but is indeed a two-way system, and passing points are spaced out, so confidence in driving is needed as well.

RSPB Ynys-hir is a wonderful nature reserve with plenty of walks and things to see. Entry price was reasonable, and it's very well looked after. There is plenty of wildlife to enjoy, which can be seen from the bird-hides and also the raised boardwalk.

The welcome area had a coffee machine with cakes and treats if you're looking for refreshments, as well as toilets, but it's the only facilities on-site. We spent around 3 hours here in total - it's a great place to enjoy some peace and nature.

Brilliant nature reserve with some maxing Hide’s to quietly sit and absorb the fantastic views around the various walks!

We drove an hour to get here and it was totally worth it. Entrance is £6 each, and again totally worth it. The grounds are so well kept and there are plenty of walks and signage around explaining about the various birds that have been sighted in the area.

The walks themselves are really not difficult, but not completely flat. They would not easily be passable in a wheelchair (red/green routes walked today)

The board walk thought he marsh is great.

One of the Hides currently has a Swallows nest inside and so you can see the young in the nest (from a distance as they have boarded off the end for them!) and the parents flying happily in and out, which is a real treat!

Simply one of the best and most varied reserves we have had the pleasure to walk around. Facilities included toilets, picnic tables, visitors centre with a mini-café. Very cheerful and helpful volunteer staff.

The drive is easy on main roads, however the turning is a sharp one and can be missed. We did and had to turn around. Once in however you drive down a long lane, think you're lost but carry on as there are signs. Once in, It is a decent car park which is free. With picnic tables and lovely feeders to see the smaller birds. Then through the visitors centre, that has coffee and snacks, with very friendly, knowledgeable staff. There are 3 different routes. Through the Saltmarsh, Woodlands and Wetlands. There is also boardwalks rounds and easy flat walks if you don't want the rough ones. There are hides to watch the birds from all around. A great place to go. Well worth a visit just to stroll or watch the wildlife. Stunning views across the Estuary. However No Dogs.

Had an absolutely lovely day out here!
There are three loops to do, but the longest is 2 miles, so we spent about 3 hours and went around the whole park. The three loops are in three different environments, with a beautiful meadow/grassland connecting them. Hides are scattered around, overlooking utterly stunning views- and a couple had birds nesting in them!
The walks might be minorly challenging if you are not especially fit (as I am not) as especially the woodland walk involves a large hill. If you are unsteady on your feet, I would not recommend it due to uneven paths- we’re in our 20s (and a but clumsy) and found ourselves tripping quite a lot.
Be aware that entry is £6 for an adult, although there is a 20% discount for students, and children get in for £2. However, entry is free for RSPB members, and the friendly receptionist did try quite hard to get us to join!
We don’t know much about birds, but I would recommend coming for the views alone, but the beautiful wildlife (including dragonflies, squirrels, snakes, butterflies and horses as well as birds) makes this a truly special place

Absolutely wonderful place. Really friendly staff, easy parking, clean loos and brilliant amounts of information and signage- it’s apparent the team really take pride in the reserve.
The reserve is beautiful and the hides perfectly placed for a relaxing bird watch. We will definitely return.

Great reserve with lots of variety. Has salt marshes, a boardwalk, lots of woodland and great hides with excellent views. There is a Trainline that cuts right through the reserve, but the birds don't seem to mind. All of the hides have good views of the trains too if that's what you like!

It's an RSPB reserve with a small entrance fee to non-members. There's no cafe-experience but there is a reception area with hot drinks available, toilet facilities and adequate car-parking. Bird life can vary, on a good day you can have all sorts from Osprey, Kites and Peregrines to Curlew, Whimbrel and even the occasional seal! But on a difficult day you'll be lucky to see anything other than Robins and Canada Geese (well always those two). But it's a spectacular estuarine setting and well worth the visit just for the walks and views.

A wonderful reserve, worth it for the trees and mosses alone. Excellent range of woodland birds I Spewing and Autumn.

Nice quiet walks through salt-marshes, woodland and wetland. Currently one way paths with the hides closed due to covid-19. The views alone are worth the visit.

Note: dogs are not allowed at this nature reserve. Car park is free but there is an entry charge for none RSPB members (£4.50 an adult).

Beautiful place to visit with your family, a range of walks to choose from and abundant in bird species. There are bird watching huts dotted around all of the walks and the visitors centre is staffed until 4pm that serves hot drinks, cakes and ice cream. At the front there is a free car park and picnic benches. Please be aware there is a policy of no dogs and the squirrels will try and nibble at your sandwiches.

Beautiful and peaceful nature reserve with an excellent range of birds. Pied and Spotted Flycatchers, Redstarts and Wood Warblers were the highlights in spring. Also good for dragonflies, butterflies and moths. Helpful staff, decent visitor centre, free parking, toilets and NO DOGS. Brilliant!

Really lovely walks with your choice of a few different areas (saltmarsh, wetlands and woodlands). The lengths of the routes vary so you can pick what works for you. There are plenty of hides around to sit and watch the wildlife. There is also a small shop with refreshments. Just be aware it's a small tight drive up there.
