What a gem of a place! We found it after years of visiting this area and were blown away by the quality & value of the food in the cafe and the life-affirming ethos of Derwen College. All the students and staff were so friendly and professional. The vintage shop was great too. We will drive down from Scotland again just to visit this place! Fantastic work 👏

I stopped off after taking my little boy to the orthopaedic hospital. I had no idea it was attached to the college , I just spotted the sign for a Garden centre. My little boy has downs syndrome and after a difficult hospital appointment it was so uplifting to visit. Firstly being served by staff (with learning diffs) who could sign makaton was so lovely for my little boy and also to see adults with ds busy working. Lovely to see the display boards too with pictures of adults with down syndrome. What an amazing place ! We loved the cafe and enjoyed a cream tea. The walled Garden is pretty and the garden centre also is nice to Potter round. The charity shop was worth a visit too , we came away with a buggy and doll :) We will definitely be stopping off after our next appointment at the hospital :) I can't believe we just stumbled upon it !

Maybe I should not write this and keep it to myself. Found this gem several years ago, great but smallish gardens center with charity shop but the cafe excellent, for two well under £20 will get you an all day breakfast , a salad prawn cheese,ham... and two drinks . With the change fight over the army of cakes. Not a large menu but ever item I have tried been top notch. Outside seating in summer and might have a wait at peck time, may be I should have kept quiet.

Well worth supporting. Lovely little garden centre and walled garden growing some vegetables and flowers. The little charity shop is worth having a look at too. We had a drink in the cafe, very reasonably priced for food and drink. You can sit inside or outside, its very pleasant The parking is good and free and there are toilets there too.

Just happened to spot this place while waiting for my mum to have an appointment at the hospital and popped in, so glad I did! It’s very well presented and the garden centre is beautifully looked after! We ended up having lunch here which was lovely with a view of the walled gardens, if your ever passing it’s well worth popping in

Lovely place with a good variety of plants at reasonable prices you can also buy seeds pots, and compost here too. The shop has a variety of different and unusual things as well as a selection of food items. Also attached to the site is an excellent cafe with very good prices and an excellent service. Just near the cafe is a charity shop with a wide range of items and well worth a visit. Don't forget to have a look around the walled garden while you are there too.

Lovely food in a well managed clean cafe . There are plenty of places to sit and eat outside or in. Clean and tidy and well priced. The food is delicious, my homemade soup and sandwiche were tasty and fresh.
It can get busy around lunchtime.

Great little garden nursery. A mix of home grown plants and bought in. The home grown plants are very reasonably priced, healthy with some unusual specimens. The cafe is great, lovely selection of cakes. The walled garden is beautiful. The bonus is that it all supports the good work of the college. Well worth a visit.

What a lovely place! We didn't find the plants we wanted, but we still enjoyed our visit very much. We wandered round the walled garden and soaked up the atmosphere, then had a browse round the lovely shop. We had lunch in the great café where the Covid-19 precautionary measures made us feel very safe. Lovely place and definitely worth a visit.

We love this oasis of calm when we visit (outside) the cafe, Covid safely. Staff lovely & so friendly, coffee & fruit cake - delicious, and the coffee & walnut cake too. Thoroughly recommend. We did not visit their lovely garden shop or pre-loved shop on this occasion. When the revamped walled garden is opened there will be a treat waiting to walk around this lovingly tended treasure. We are so fortunate to have such a calm & friendly facility. This is a genuine customer review.

What an amazing hidden gem! I have been coming and going to and fro from the hospital and not once realised what this place holds. There a garden centre shop selling local hand made items, quirky pots ,plants and other garden bits. There is also a charity shop ran and organised by adults with learning difficulties. Staff are polite, friendly, helpful and super organised and always looking for donations. So if you live near why not take what things you no longer want or need as these guys can sell them. Support a well worthy cause.
