Lappi Central Hospital

If you’re reading these reviews and worried about going, do not fear. All of these reviews are complaining about the wait time… it’s the emergency department- there’s always going to be a wait. As a foreigner, I was very impressed by the ER- it is newly renovated and very clean. You check in on kiosks that tell you what room to go to when ready. They have individual waiting rooms so people can spread out and staff is professional. Within the first 30 min, I was seen by a nurse where she checked my vitals, asked why I was there and after that, I only had to wait 2 hours before getting my blood drawn and being seen by a doctor. Everyone I met with spoke great English. I can’t speak on their inpatient hospital stay, but the ER department was a great experience compared to American healthcare. Another thing to note was that it is not free- my bill was 250 euros and I didn’t get any scans, just blood draw and urine specimen.

Visited the emergency room with my kid and received outstanding, prompt service with only 1 hour waiting time in total.

On the first day of our Winter holiday, I slipped on some time ice and landed hard on my shoulder. I was convinced I had broken something. So, off to hospital
I only waited a few minutes to be booked in. Within 20 minutes I was being examined by a doctor. The doctor walked down to the x-ray department with me and told me how to book in there.
Before long, the x-rays had been done. Another short wait to see the doctor. Good news, nothing broken.
After being prescribed some pain killers, l was in a taxi heading back to my hotel.
Admittedly, the E.R. wasn't really busy when I visited it. I was told by a local guide that it was normally a wait of several hours.
To anybody who complains about long waiting times, please remember patients are prioritised according to the severity of their condition.
Just like our own N.H.S. in the UK some waiting times can be short, some can be long. Hospital staff are under tremendous pressure but they all do fantastic job.
The hospital staff in Rovaniemi were first class. Kiitos Paljon.

As a foreigner, I was very impressed with the hospital.

Scanning your Kela card to "sign in" results in a printed receipt with your number and directions of which departments to visit.

At each department, the number is used to direct you where to go, so, for us foreigners struggling with Finnish language, that is not a problem.

The hospital is very clean and efficient, and I can't think of anything that could have been done to make my visit easier or less stressful.

Genuinely felt that everyone I was in contact with wanted to do their best for me, especially the surgeon that took time to explain everything, pre, during and post operation, to me, in English.

The Angry Birds went into my room while I was temporarily paralyzed. Terrifying, don't let them in your room.

We had to queue quite long, but the doctor on duty was amazing. Thank you!

Bestes Krankenhaus das ich je betreten habe. Sehr freundlich sehr kompetent. Zudem gibt es eine Klimaanlage was bei mir zuhause nicht der Fall ist, sodass man bei der Hitze von gerade 28° nicht schwitzen muss

Excelente atención, fui con mi hija de 3 años , desde la recepción , auxiliares ,enfermeros y médicos, todo muy rápido y eficiente , le sacaron sangre de una forma mínimamente invasiva y sin dolor, resultados rápidos, todo muy bien y las instalaciones nuevas parecia mejor que una clínica privada en Madrid! Me lleve a mi niña súper contenta y apañada con su medicación con buena evaluación tras tratamiento..:) Da gusto estar en el extranjero y tener una buen atención y calidad gracias a la tarjeta sanitaria europea .

Koko viikon olin sairaalassa Rovaniemellä. Kaikki taistelivat henkeni ja terveyteni puolesta (onnettomuuden jälkeen). Sitä on mahdotonta ilmaista millään sanoilla. Haluan vain kumartaa kaikille, jotka ovat mukana tässä tapahtumassa, haluan polvistua kaikkien edessä. Suomalaiset ovat parhaita ihmisiä, suomalaiset lääkärit, sairaanhoitajat, kaikki Rovaniemen sairaalan henkilökunta on parasta. Kiitos todella paljon tällaisesta asenteesta ja ihmisistä välittämisestä!!!!

Le 15/03 j’ai fait une chute à l’arrivée à l’aéroport de Rovaniemi lors de mon retour en France, j’ai été opéré le 16/03 suite à une double fracture péroné malléole, je remercie toutes les personnes exceptionnelles : Yolaine notre guide pour sa présence tout au long de ma prise en charge aux urgences, ambulanciers, infirmières, chirurgien, aide soignantes pour leur professionnalisme, empathie sans que la barrière de la langue soit un obstacle, certains hôpitaux français devraient prendre exemple
Je remercie également l’assistante sociale qui s’est chargée de la liaison entre l’assistance et l’hôpital pour la prise en charge de mon rapatriement.

Merci à vous je garde un excellent souvenir de mes 2 séjours (hôtel et hôpital) de cette merveilleuse Laponie.

Loistavaa palvelua hätätilanteessa.
Kädessäni oli iso haava joka vaati tikkausta. Asiansaosaavat lääkärit hoitivat tikkauksen/ompelemisen ihailtavalla ammattitaidolla.

Rupattelivat siinä lomassa mukavia ja rauhoittelivat kun vähän hätääntyneenä/paniikkikohtauksessa siinä hermoilin.

Ei voi muuta kuin sanoa että on meillä loistavat sairaalapalvelut täällä Rovaniemellä. Ilomielin maksan veroja jos sillä näin hyvää palvelua saa.

Mycket gott omhändertagande. Bröt lårbenshalsen och opererades omgående. Egen sköterska som hjälpte mig med allt praktiskt.
Vid utskrivningen beställde hon taxi och gav chauffören instruktion var han skulle köra mig.
Är så nöjd, de bästa betyg som kan ges.
