Apukka Resort - Glass Igloos Hotel

Apukka Resort in Rovaniemi is an incredible place to stay! We visited this week (November 2023) and had the most incredible time. We stayed in an Aurora Cabin King and one night we got to watch the Northern Lights dancing in the sky from our very own bed!! The tall glass windows are stunning and even if there aren't any lights, you have an incredible view of the starry sky.
We had breakfast included in our stay and loved the great selection of food options. Every morning we had a few plates each of savoury and sweet food which filled us up most of the day.
There are a lot of activities to choose from and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. We did a few activities and loved them all. You can request a warm overall, socks and boots from reception once you arrive and I definitely recommend that you do so. They are completely free to use for the duration of your stay and they are such good quality that we could stay outside playing in the snow for hours without feeling cold or getting wet.

Apukka Resort one of the best resort that iv been to. Thanks to Philippine lady at the reception who assists us very well. The staffs there all friendly and accomodate us perfectly. The glass igloo room is all nice, nothing faulty, clean and superb. The activities that we did there such as sleigh reindeer ride, snowmobile activity worth the money as the winter view was incredible. Extremely satisfied with our 4 nights stay in Apukka Resort. From food, to service, experiences and last but not least, the room, everything was just perfect. We have booked several experiences like private jacuzzi&sauna, aurora hunt by car, Santa Clause village, feeding the reindeer and playing with Husky and also the Arctic Circle Hike and i have to say that i've enjoyed every single moment.

Had a great time. Felt in awe of the beautiful surroundings. Apukka is set just slightly out so its more rural than other resorts but still near scv. I think Finland is expensive as a whole and found that the excursions especially are pricey. I saw many others cheaper but the quality looked lacking. We did snow and fun which was great for younger kids. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We also did a family sauna and jacuzzi but which was nice to warm up. We booked the snow train to the aurora lights. This is a long excursion with maybe 2 hours waiting around when uou get there. With young kids this felt quite painful seen as you could barely see the lights. In -25 degrees we ended up waiting on a dark train hoping it would finish early which it didn't. We did a snowmobile to scv this felt special as it was over a frozen lake and through the forest.my only wish would be to go faster. There is a nice reception area with a cute gift shop where the gifts seem good quality compared to scv. There are a few games in reception and it services coffees, cakes a drinks. It's a sociable place where it has an adventure vibe but fairly calm. There's sledges all over you can use to transport your things or kids. Big snow slides and donuts to use whenever. The restaurant was nice buffet style. I thought it was well done. The other restaurant with the set meal wasn't my taste but beautifully presented. I enjoyed the spacing of this place it felt busy enough to feel like there was a vibe without people being on top of you. It wasn't too quiet where I worried about my kids being loud but also a calm sense everywhere. The room felt a bit small for 4 people and needs somewhere to dry clothes. The shower was backwards to the instructions and either boiling or cold which was frustrating. I would like to come back but would probably try another suite. We stayed in the kammi suite. I felt it was lovely decor, beautiful glass ceiling and definitely unique but maybe the family suites that are coming soon . Apukka has a natural quality with lots to offer

We just ended our adventures at Apukka. It was a magic experience. Staff are warm and friendly and were comitted to make us enjoy every moment. Special compliments to our guides Izmo and Erwin who took us all the way on a ride through the magic of Finland. The storytelling was the finishing touch which made it all more special! Highly recommended!

Apukka Resort was the most magical place. A winter wonderland! From glass roof igloos, snowmobiling, reindeer rides, dog sledding, ice baths and northern lights. Sammi from the restaurant and Lisla from reception were amazing and looked after us so well. Second to none service. Highly recommend. We'll be back!

The room is exceptionally unique, offering a fantastic experience. However, it's worth noting that during the winter season, considering the price might be necessary. There are limited food options available; I found only one restaurant open during my stay in November. Nevertheless, the food served there was of good quality.

Regarding its location, it's a bit distant from the town center, but taxis are easily accessible. I recommend using the "Meneva Taksi" app to secure a favorable deal on your rides.

Arriving earlier in the morning is advisable if you wish to participate in the activities, especially during December when advance reservations are often required. However, during my visit in November, I found that same-day reservations were sufficient and did not pose any issues.

Apukka resort was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. From the moment I set foot in the reception to end of my stay, I could not have been happier or better catered for. The reception staff, especially Mervi & Patty were exceptional and answered all of my enquiries with enthusiasm and plenty of smiles.
The activities were all well organised and I enjoyed the personal touch and engagement with the crew especially Kati & Andrej.
The meals were all very good with a wide selection of food from which to choose from and satisfy any palate.
This has been a very family friendly holiday venue.
I highly recommend this place and I seriously look forward to returning as soon as possible.

This was an incredible experience. The resort is fantastic with great facilities, staff and activities. My favourites were the husky & reindeer sledding. The lakeside sauna & artic bath (ice dipping) is something definitely worth experiencing. Snowmobiling was so so compared to the other activities. Hunting auroras at night was nice. Suitable for families with young children.

You can see the sky from your cabin while lying down in bed to hunt auroras. There is a window warmer to get that snow off. They have a phone app to alert you when they are present. The Queen aurora cabin was top-notch. Very spacious with a couch, table, and more seats. Bathroom tiles are heated, and hot water comes very quickly.

Cold weather clothing is provided/can be rented, which includes a wind & waterproof overall, gloves, socks, and boots. Your own socks and gloves will probably be fine/better.

The food was great. Breakfast is included and is a buffet at restaurant Aitta. Lunch there is good too. Dinner at either Aitta or Kota is fantastic.

A shuttle runs from the resort to santa claus village and rovaniemi city centre, so you can visit them in the afternoon.

Overall, it was worth every dollar, and it is an experience I will remember very fondly.

I visited Apukka Resort this week for a few nights and had the most incredible time and birthday celebrations.
We stayed in the Aurora cabin which was warm and cosy, comfy bedding and we even saw the Aurora lights glistening above our glass roof the one evening which was just magical!!
The resort is in the most perfect location next to the frozen lake and the gorgeous snowy forest!
The first morning we booked the Reindeer Adventure which was honestly the most magical experience I've ever had, it was like being in one of the Narnia books. Afterwards we met and fed the Reindeers and I fell in love, there was even a baby Reindeer to feed!!
In the evening we did the Aurora hunt by car tour and we did not have much luck as it was a slightly cloudy night but later on that evening in my cabin we spotted it glowing in the sky!! The Aurora alert app the resort recommends to download is a plus!
The next morning we did the husky adventure and this was honestly the funniest experience to look back on definitely reccomend doing this but not in -25degree weather as when the huskies run it turns to -50degrees.

Stayed at the Apukka resort on our holiday to Finland early October 2023. While one benefit is that there were no crowds and we got to experience both fall and winter weather, a down side was that the Husky rides got cancelled due to not dry enough for wheels and not deep enough snow for sleds.

We were at the Aurora cabin queen for 2 nights and at the Komsio for 1 night. Both the cottages were quiet and clean with beautiful views of the stars. We also got really lucky in spotting the northern lights from our aurora cabin one night. I think for seeing the sky the aurora queen is better than the komsio. The komsio reflects street lights and inner lights.

The restaurant was really good. We tried the tasting menu and were very happy with every dish we tried. They also have a very nice spread of options for breakfast every day.

Everyone at the reception is super friendly and always eager to help you with any problems you might have. They also have a rental section with overalls, gloves, shoes etc that you can rent for free during your stay.

Activities that we signed up for was the husky visit and meet the reindeers. We had a lovely time at them both and the guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. Since they are both located in the property it’s convenient and we didn’t have to travel anywhere. We also did the private sauna and were able to truly immerse ourselves in the Finnish culture. On an off day we drove to Levi for skiing.

We had an amazing experience in Apukka! We had the christmas spirit package and everything was so smooth. Stayed in kami igloo room and the rooms were very hot! All the activities were amazing. We had a 5 year old kid and the reindeer sledge to magic forest to meet santa can not be compared to any other experience. Do not consider the negative reviews on viator. They take you to warm tents where the elves make activities with the kids then you are called to meet with santa which is magical... they can not be better! The husky experience, fishing experience,.... everything is so good. We actually want to plan another trip to Lapland next year! Thank you Apukka for making this one so great. Only thing is for the kids menu if u can put some pizza would be great.

I recently had the privilege of staying at Apukka Resort in Rovaniemi, Finland, and it was undoubtedly the highlight of my Scandinavian journey. From the moment I arrived in this snowy wonderland, with daily temperatures around -7°C, to my cozy cabin room, everything about Apukka was simply amazing.

Having to see the mesmerizing Northern Lights from my bed was a dream come true. The comfortable bed, warm water, and the delicious food served at the restaurant
made each moment special. The view of the frozen lake was nothing short of magical; it felt like stepping into an Al painting turned real. Even in the cold, I had one of the best swing rides of my life with the view of the lake.

As someone from warm and sunny Singapore, this escape to the cold was a unique and unforgettable experience.
The reception team at Apukka was top-notch, and they even had a room ready for me when I arrived slightly earlier than check-in time, which was a great relief after my long journey from Copenhagen.

But it wasn't just the accommodations and the views that made my stay exceptional. I also had the pleasure of experiencing a thrilling husky ride and learning about how these incredible dogs are trained from puppies to their role as working animals. The passion and knowledge of the guides who led this adventure were truly remarkable.

The 'Meet the Reindeer' session was a delightful educational experience. I gained a newfound appreciation for these magnificent creatures and learned so much about their role in the local culture and environment. The guides who accompanied us during the husky and reindeer experiences were nothing short of amazing. Their expertise and enthusiasm added a whole new dimension to the trip.

Apukka Resort delivered a magical and unforgettable experience. The comfortable bed, the regular appearance of the Northern Lights, the enriching encounters with huskies and reindeer, and the exceptional guides all contributed to making this trip one of the best times of my life. I highly recommend Apukka Resort to anyone.

Very veryansın good place to stay. Perfect location. We sayede in glass iglo. İt was warm and cosy. We saw aurora borealis from inside. Restaurants and meals perfect too. I Will never forget our holiday. But it was a little expensive for us. Thank you everything.

This is a wonderful resort which is well thought-through in its design. Located beside a beautiful lake and a husky farm, it brings you so close to nature and blends in with the beauty of the Finnish Lapland.

With its friendly staff and great breakfast, I would strongly recommend this to anyone in search of a perfect location for an Artic Circle vacation.

PS. Did I tell you about the Aurora Borealis? We hunted all the way, all night (left hotel at around 7.30pm and returned at 4am the following day!) and came home to the best show of Aurora AT THE RESORT!

Wonderful property with all the amenities in quite cosy environment.
I was celebrating my wife’s birthday and they surprise us with hand written birthday card with souvenirs.
We have visited on 20th October and stayed 02 nights temp. During evening and early morning was -12 degC.
Both nights 20 and 21st Oct we have seen Aurora from our room with starry nights from our bed, Aurora alert app was really helpful.
Staff was cheerful and welcoming and ready help as much as they can.
Breakfast was the best so many options to choose from.
Nearby lake was frozen and surrounding areas covered by snow.
We have taken some amazing pics.
Definitely visiting them again soon.

If you care about Igloos and Northern lights. This is the best place to be.
We stayed for 2 nights and saw northern lights both night!! The staff is very kind and their morning breakfast is nice as well.

We got to tour the entire Pukka Resort on the Open Day, and it was wonderful!! We made reservations for the Resturaunt that evening, and had a delicious meal. The kids loved playing with the huskies, and petting the reindeer!
