Albergue Luz of Fromista stands out as one of the best places I stayed on the Camino Frances. The owner operator Gabriel is very helpful and shared his experience walking the Camino. His kindness and advice enriched my own journey on the Camino. Thank you.

Gabriel is amazing! He is so kind and makes sure you are comfortable and feel at home! The albergue was very clean and the rooms were heated and even had extra blankets (it’s been pretty cold).
The bathrooms were clean and showers had a nice shelf area to set your clothes while also keeping them dry.
The kitchen has a stove and is a cozy place to cool. The whole albergue is decorated with Gabriel’s own artwork! He is very talented, and also has artwork of some of his past students too.
The social areas are also very comfortable, outside there’s a ping pong table and seating, perfect for a sunny afternoon. There’s also a nice and cozy dining/social area with a window which would be perfect for card games or writing in your journal.

I cannot tell you enough how much we felt at home not just in the hostel but with meeting Gabriel as well.

PS if you’re struggling with tendinitis or blisters let him know he has great suggestions! Also if you need a good BIG meal ask him for a suggestion! He pointed us in the right way!
Gabriel muchas gracias por tu hospitalidad fue un gran placer conocerte! Realmente eres una gran bendición a los peregrinos!

This is a great albergue. Gabriel is so kind and helpful. He didn’t have enough beds when I arrived with my friends but ended up finding a place for me to sleep so I didn’t have to sleep in a tent in the rain. The outdoor space is gorgeous and has a ping pong table as well. Would highly recommend staying here. 😌

The owner is very nice, opening and mostly welcomes you with a open heart. I went there in september and arrived at around 9 pm. He wasn’t there but I could press a button for him to come down. A minute later he was there. I asked him if he had a bed left and told me there was 1 left, and was happy to take me in. He gave me a upper bed but I couldn’t care less as it was atleast a bed. The showers were also very comforting, as they were nice and warm, which not all albergues have and the room temperature was also good. The owner explained to me where I could go for breakfast and what restaurants he recommends. The next morning I left a little late and saw the owner and he told me a little bit about himself and his art which was very interesting. I would absolutely recommend this albergue to anyone going to fromista. Thanks

It was so lovely place for pilgrims. Which means, they had cozy room, nice terrace, clean kitchen which is you can cook freely. I was so glad to stay this albergue. And actually, I broke their plate so I felt sooo sorry but the host said It's okay, forget about it. Maybe I can't say thank you enough.

Gabriel was kind enough to take me in without a booking at the end of a long and difficult day on my bike, such a lovely and hospitable man! He explained to me a bit about the history of the albergues and where the different Caminos are in modern day Spain. He is genuinely interested in the people who stay at his hostel, and does all he can to give them the best experience possible. I had a very comfortable and restful stay here, and would highly recommend it. Thanks again Gabriel!

Gabriel. He is the owner of the "Arberge Luz de Fromista". He was very kind and gave me the best experience. I lost a towel while walking on the "camino" but he gave me a new towel.Thank you so much."He's like the angel Gabriel."😀 I bought meat at the supermarket and grilled it deliciously. (Bed, toilet, shower, kitchen, everything is clean and perfect) The view of the terrace is also fantastic.I had a very relaxing and enjoyable time here. I highly recommend this place to you. Please come here and feel happy. Thank you again Gabriel!🤗

Lovely albergue situated in a beautiful artistically decorated house. The kitchen has all you need and there's a nice place to sit both inside and outside. The hospitalerio is especially friendly and really makes the stay worthwhile. It's definitely the better option (in every way) over the municipal albergue in Fromista!

Lovely mood! Wonderful atmosphere for a pilgrim. And the showers have cubbies that keep your things dry 😁 “Attention to detail is a sign of love”

Really grateful that Gabriel welcomed us ! The albergue was closed and he was on family vacation but when he saw that there was no other sleeping option in town for me and other pilgrims, he and is wife welcome us instantly.
The Albergue is really nice, they kept old structure but restored it completely. Lots of beautiful painting, a big kitchen we can use and extra warm shower.
Gabriel is a really kind person with plenty of interesting stories !
Definitely recommend staying there !

Gabriel, our host is a warm, wonderful accommodating gentleman. The albergue itself was a very interesting, very old building. The next time I'm here, I will definitely seek this one out.

One of the best place in El Camino to stay! Gabriel, the owner is such a nice person! The place is awesome and if you want to relax and play Ping Pong this is the place. Don't forget to write down and go the place he sent you to have dinner. Cheers!

Gabriel is really nice and the albergue was very comfortable. Finally an albergue with hot water in the showers! Great value! Also, Gabriel, thank you for suggesting that tendinitis cream from the farmacy! We feel much better!

Gabriel was so kind and welcoming. He was amazing and helped with my partners knee injury. Bathrooms were the cleanest of all the albergues I’d been to and laundry service was available and efficient. Highly recommend.

Prob one of my favorite places I’ve stayed on the Camino. It’s a lovely old house, and the owner is very warm and hospitable, proactively providing us information about the pharmacy/grocery market/restaurants without us asking and making us feel cared for even amongst the afternoon check-in crowd. The place is kept clean and tidy. What I loved most was that the owner has seemingly thought about all the details that a peregrino could need/want - individual electrical sockets by the beds, private lockers, shelves and hooks in each shower stall, a ledge to place your toiletries by the bathroom mirror, a large lounge area where you can pack your bag in the morning, plenty of drying clothes pins, etc. Only improvement would be to have more toilets/shower stalls.

It's so happy experience at Fromista.
I'm so happy to meet him.
He is Spanish came from Madrid name is Gabriel.
I have a problem with my knees so bad when I arrive.
He gave me a magical cream many times all days, talk to me, and take care of me despite of many pilgrims in there.
He thinks my problem seems too bad.
He is the best albergue owner I've ever seen before.
Anyway thanks a lot.
And take care of yourself.
It's one of the best experience in camino🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

The owner was so kind and generous. We made us feel so welcomed, and gave us advice about the Camino experience that we will treasure forever. This is one of the best albergues I’ve stayed in thus far because the people are incredible, the owner is so sweet, and the overall atmosphere is lovely. Thank you for making such a permanent mark on my Camino journey with your generosity. I was craving ice cream because I can’t sleep without filling my 1 ice cream a day quota, and the owner kindly gave me and my friend some of his ice cream :’) just what we needed.
