Café Central

Cafe Central is a highlight of our trip to Madrid. We booked online for the 8pm
Show and chose stage side seats. We were right in front of the band but second row. Perfect! We also chose the tapas option, which came with an amazing chocolate dessert. My husband ate every bite.
The crowd was fun and friendly and the jazz was fantastic! We were fortunate to catch Old Friends Jazz performing. What a fun night! We are coming back to Madrid in 9 days and we have already booked our table!
The wait staff and manager are friendly and helpful and the whole evening was as smoothly run as is possible.
Get there a half hour before the show starts to be settled in your seat by showtime.

Update 2024: We sat out on the first day of spring on their terrace in the lovely Plaza del Ángel and had lunch here for the first time. At 16.90€ the Monday to Friday set lunch was excellent value, The highlights were the chicken & avocado salad; the salmorejo soup with chopped serrano ham and hard boiled egg, and the tatin dessert, but it was all good as well as the service.

2015: There's jazz every night. We went for the 3rd time in the last month, to the O Sister concert of 1930s American swing. This group of 6 talented musicians and singers from Seville sound really 1930s American.

And the Café Central club sandwich and a glass or two of Ribera del Duero are a great accompaniment. A superb place to relax and hear live music....

A great place for a night out. We went to the jazz night twice last week. Both times were excellent. A great selection of cocktails. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. I look forward to going back.

I am so glad we booked tickets to visit. We saw a jazz band who were brilliant. The atmosphere was amazing and we really enjoyed it. Looking out into the road it was like we were sitting in someone's house enjoying the music! Loved it. Everyone who visits Madrid should come for a show! My daughter didn't enjoy the food much but that was just a small thing.

Extraordinary place with wonderful staff and top quality service. The jazz show is fantastic. If you visit Madrid for the first time, make sure you go here for a drink and some jazz. My greatest respect goes to the manager and the wonderful staff of Cafe Central for making our last night in Madrid a memorable night.

We had a delicious 3 course lunchtime set meal with an alcoholic drink. It cost €21.90 pp. The service was swift and efficient and the waiter was pleasant and attentive. We would definitely recommend.

Cafe central is one of my favourite places for a breakfast in Madrid. I love the atmosphere. The toasts and cakes are really nice and the music is always really relaxing. I often come to work in the morning as it’s peaceful and the coffee is great.

By far my live music venue of choice for a lot of reasons. First all the acts are fabulous and fantastic musicians. I’m an American with Spanish descendants so while I appreciate salsa, merengue and ador Flamenco I am most moved by R&B, Soul, Jazz
,Blues and Rock. The acts at this venue cover all genres of music. So you will most likely find a great source of entertainment. The cloud is mixed with tourists and locals both Spanish and English speaking. It’s a great vibe. The service and reservation system is easy. Staff is friendly and while I’m fluent in Spanish the staff also speak English. I’m a scotch drinker and they have great selection of scotch Macallan, Glenfiddich etc. I have their food and it is tasty. Prices are very reasonable with beer at 3-4.00 euros and my scotch at 14.00 which is a few euros less than in the states. I’ll be returning to Madrid in 2023 and will visit again.

Read about this place in Rick Steve's travel book. It was 28 euro entry at the door to see the jazz band, Blues Triumvirate, it was well worth it. Everyone was enjoying themselves.

We could only stay 1.5 hrs because that's about it length of the program and there was a 2nd show afterward.

You should go for a drink, not the food.

Amazing venue for Jazz lovers. Easy to buy online tickets where it’s available to choose between seats at the bar or seats with table. There is tapas option too. Tables are great for 2 guests. Be aware before you book that the venue has a huge column blocking the view.
The band that evening was amazing: piano, bass and guitar. They played Latin jazz which I loved and for 1h we enjoyed it all.

Amazing cocktails! The performance is fantastic and always sold out venue! The bouncer and bar tenders are the best. I came here twice solo woman traveling and was one of the best ambiance around this area. Definitely will come again! Tried their A La shiittt cocktail it’s mezcal, pineapple with egg foam it was sooooooo good!!!!

Great place to listen jazz. The concerts are great quality and the atmosphere well.
They have two concerts per night and you pay the ticket for one concert.

The music and ambience were great! Definitely would return again! Do remember to book ahead of time though as it was full unless one had a prior booking. The staff were friendly and extremely attentive to our wants! The moment we finished our meal, they cleared the table and asked us if we'd like seconds or a drink! 10/10 experience.

Cafe Central Madrid is the jazz club in the centre of Madrid located on Plaza de Angel. It hosts events with different jazz performers with pre booking or pay at the entrance options. This is a very nice place to spend an evening and relax after the long day.

One of the best nights out I’ve ever had. Such a lovely environment to listen to great music - with great food and drink. Top spot.
