We've seen some really fun exhibitions here. Just check if there's anything going on, otherwise you might just be able to see it from outside.

As of September 24th, 2023, it is locked. You can see inside, and it's empty. Doesn't look like any work is getting done. The outside is still beautiful and peaceful. Lots of people gathered to feed the ducks, pigeons, turtles, fish and black swans. We saw a couple of brides having their pictures taken. Make sure to bring lettuce or chips for the water fowl and turtles. They will come right up to you if you sit on the steps to the pond.

The palacio de cristal is a very impressive , breathtaking building. This place is inside the park and the park is huge. It's absolutely stunning. It was closed, but it doesn't seem to be under construction, so I have no idea why it's closed. But even from the outside, it's beautiful. There is a little lake and you can sit and relax there. We ate crisps, and we had lots of guests (ducks, pigeons, birds). we fed them, and we saw 2 beautiful black swans and a turtle. It's peaceful. Not quiet but peaceful. Explore the whole park! It's definitely worth a visit.

After a captivating tour through the local museum, I found myself yearning for a moment of bliss amidst the beauty of the city. As if guided by fate, I embarked on an unplanned journey, guided solely by the virtual oracle of Google Maps. And oh, what a serendipitous discovery it turned out to be! The place I stumbled upon was nothing short of a hidden treasure waiting to be unveiled.

Stepping beyond the ornate gates, I felt like I had time-traveled to the early 1900s, a bygone era when people elegantly donned suits and dresses as they sauntered through this enchanting park. My curiosity led me deeper into this wonderland, and there, to my sheer delight, stood the Palacio de Cristal. Its exquisite architecture transported me to a time when locals strolled beneath towering trees to reach this magnificent structure, basking in the awe of its craftsmanship.

The beauty of this place extended far beyond the Palacio de Cristal. It was as though I had stumbled upon a cleaner, more reverent version of New York's Central Park. The pristine surroundings and the deep respect for the land by the people here were evident in every corner.

Venturing further, I found myself beside a tranquil pond that had surely graced the silver screen in countless movies. As I took a leisurely stroll, I couldn't resist the allure of people-watching. It was clear that this place was a haven for young adults, brimming with the promise of joy and amusement.

In sum, this hidden gem in Madrid is a destination that beckons every traveler. Whether you choose to relax on a bench and indulge in some people-watching or, as I did, surrender to the temptation of a rejuvenating nap, this place offers an experience that is nothing short of magical.

It is very sad that this small glass palace is closed. I am posting photos from my last visit to this place to remind all visitors to Madrid that they need to check if this palace is open. And if it opens again, don't miss the opportunity to visit inside.

Beautiful part of Retiro park in Madrid. During summer the interior is closed but they will host art exhibitions other times of the year. Recommend.

The Palacio de Cristal is absolutely gorgeous. It is located in El Retiro Park. I was also able to pick up wifi in this area. There were plenty of benches for sitting and relaxing.

It is an imposing and impressive building in the middle of the park. The pond before it is also very charming, with many fowls and critters. The building itself, however, is closed during summer. They said I "couldn't handle the heat"

This is such a beautiful place to be around, it’s really magical. Sadly I couldn’t enter as there was no exhibition when I went. But my friend said if you have the chance, enter as it is even better. Definitely want to come back when it’s open

The building itself was not open but it was lovely to just walk around it. We went at the weekend which was quite busy so I’d recommend going at a quieter time.

My favourite building in the park - looks gorgeous and very impressive. Sadly currently you can't get it, as it's under refurbishment, but the outside is intact - great spot for pictures!

This building is the darkest side of Madrid's history, actually. The opening of the Crystal Palace in 1887 hosted the largest and most complete Human Zoo in Europe. 45 natives from the Igorot tribe from Philippine, mostly the mountainous island of Luzo, were displayed in the Retiro Park.

It was built in 1887 by Spanish architect Ricardo Velasquez Bosco for the purpose of hosting the Exposition of the Philippines. The structure is shaped like a Greek cross and is made almost entirely of glass. Its frame is made of iron and bricks.

It is a lovely building. Going inside is impossible, but you can see inside from the door.

The palace was temporarily closed when we visited, but even the exterior was worth visiting. The Crystal Palace is a must-see at El Retiro Park; it's a huge, impressive structure by a big pond filled with ducks, swans, and koi fish. Even in the hot months, there's plenty of shade surrounding the palace to escape from the heat. The walk over to the palace is very peaceful and calm as well. I'd highly recommend both visiting the palace and checking out the rest of the park.

This is one of our favorite spot in El Retiro park! Definitely the best place to go during the summer. They have a beautiful artworks inside the castle. Outside, in the lake you can pet swans, ducks, turtles, doves, fishes… very good idea for kids! Everything is so green and so pretty! Good for family picnic or friends gathering, or enjoying for your own self the nature and the beauty. Definitely recommended!!!♥

It's so beautiful, I wish it had been open to enter but even the outside is a sight to see. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been.

"Visited the Palacio de Cristal within El Retiro Park and was left in awe. This stunning glass and iron structure is not only architecturally impressive, but it also beautifully reflects the surrounding nature. Inside, the play of light through the glass panels creates a magical atmosphere. A true gem in Madrid!"

Unfortunately it was closed due to renovations, but on the outside Palacio de Cristal looks amazingly beautiful. No ticket needed to visit this beauty. Located in El Retiro Park.
