Beautiful restaurant, very unique setting with all the wine barrels mounted above. Higher end dining with some exquisite dishes. Standouts for me were the salted prawns (texture is unreal), marinated tuna (top quality), steak tartar (first time for me) and lamb / timbal. When you have an occasion to dine well, this place is for you!

Our waiter, Juan Carlos, offered some fantastic recommendations, like the ensaladilla rusa. We probably wouldn’t have ordered it without his suggestion, and it ended up being the best one we’ve ever eaten. Everything was delightful, but I’ll also highlight the croquetas, cow’s tail raviolis and the flan.

Can’t wait to visit again.

An unexpectedly fabulous last culinary experience before we leave Spain (for now at least). The Gambon al la Sal and the rice pudding (100 year old recipe) were spectacular.

This place is famous for its ravioli (starter but you can order by the unit) which was unbelievable.
The chargrilled peppers were superb.
All mains were just delicious.
Service was extremely pleasant and professional.

There are 3 things I would highly recommend here: 1. Croquetas de jamon (as a big fan of croquetas, I must say these are one of the best I had in Spain). 2. Ravioli de rabo de vaca con foie 🤤 and Tarta de queso 🤤. The ambient is super nice. The service is a bit unorganized but everything else is amazing.

Great place with amazing ambience. The staff is really polite. You just try the potato tortilla with sauce and chorizo, mind blowing.

Simply excellent!! We went for fish and seafood options and left in absolute satisfaction! The raw prawns, marinated anchovies for starters and cod and seabass for mains were all cooked really well with good quality ingredients and bursting flavors.

What a great restaurant and food! We tried the salada russa and the tuna and both dishes were amazing. Nice service and freat atmosphere.

The ambience was quite unique. The food was delicious. Lived up to the expectations.

A favourite restaurant which has been visited on many occasions on our trips to Santander, this particular one being on 24/09/2022.
Lovely surroundings with all magnificent painted barrels either on wall or above the diners.
We started with cabracho & croquetas to share between 3 of us.
Both were excellent.
I had the Timbal de Cordero (lamb), which was absolutely lovely, & other 2 diners had the Bacalao which I tried & was superb.
Excellent rioja was drank along with a refreshing beer.
This is not just a restaurant in the city but also an institution.

One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in years!
Friendly and caring service (we got there one day early due to a mistake in the reservation but they were still able to find us a table in spite of how busy the place was).
Constant care by the waiters asking if the food was good, making recommendations and just being helpful. Superb!
Food quality vs price is the best one can get really. The food is top notch, flavors are very balanced ... everything was just right!
We ordered:
Croquetas - must try
Stuffed peppers
Burrata salad
Merluza del Cantábrio
Flan
Helado quesucos de Cantabria - must!

Excellent food and lovely decor. Had some amazing croquettes and tortilla!

Five star for the excellent bacalao, great wine list (also by glass) and extraordinary atmosphere in the dining room. The service was also very efficient and attentive.

Besides the unforgettable bacalao, I tried the tuna tataki and crema de lemon. Also good, but not outstanding in any way.

Very fair prices. Overall, this place is highly recommended!

Wonderful establishment that had been active since 1940 serving local delicacies whilst innovating.
We ordered the following:
Anchoas Catalina/ Anchovies served in olive oil
Cogote de merluza con cebolla caramelizada y patatas/Hake with caramelized onions and potatos
Cachon en su tinta/ a type of squid cooked ij its own ink
Croquetas de queso de treviso y trufa/ Treviso cheese with trufles croquettes

The place is unique and you dine surrounded by old wine barrels that have been painted by artists since early 1930
The collection is stunning
Staff is really nice and they know what they serve and you can always ask for suggestions, if there is a change on the menu they will advise you and let you know the price without asking before you order
Great culinary experience; top notch quality ingredients and cooking
A must visit if you are staying in Santander!
Make sure to do a reservation it is usually packed at night and during weekends!
