I had an incredible stay at the Desert Moon Hotel. Honestly, after traveling so much around the world I have never seen this exceptional hospitality from any hotel ever! The team was always available to quickly support any questions/requests that I had. They even contacted me before the stay if I needed help with anything, this type of hospitality is purely extraordinary. The terrace was very cool, beautifully decorated, and had an amazing view. It was a great place to chill out after a long day of visiting the busy streets of Cairo. I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel as my stay felt like home with very nice staff to always welcome you.

I encourage everyone to read my honest review:

I've traveled to a few places around the world and I've been in many different hotels. If you come to Egypt expecting emaculate massive rooms with perfect streets and nightlife surrounding you, that is not the real Egypt. The reality is that Egypt is far from perfect. You must remember, this isn't the place that has all the luxuries that most of you likely have at home. But the people you meet and interact with and the things you see both tourist attractions and not is what makes you truly appreciate Egypt.

With that, I'd like to bring my attention to Dr. Mohammed. He has a degree in Egyptology and is the owner of Desert Moon, along with his wife whom we unfortunately did not get to meet. From the moment we arrived at like 9a, he personally greeted us and apologized for the confusion around the cab driver. He immediately welcomed us to some breakfast and told me he wants to make our trip memorable. He is a very spiritual and loving man. He shared a wonderful story of love between him and his wife and explains how their goal is to share their love with each and every guest that arrives.

He listened to everything we were interested in doing and made sure we hit every one of those points. He is very reasonable when it comes to prices and you can tell he wants you to truly experience the most of Egypt without feeling like you're spending far more than you need to. After eating breakfast, we checked in to our room (which he upgraded for us since we had booked a smaller room) and it was quite lovely. It is not a huge room and you shouldn't expect that unless you book their largest room. It was more than comfortable enough for 2 people with a double sized bed and a full couch. Small TV and A/C that definitely got very cold. The bathroom was well sized and the water was totally fine. The hot water works through a heater rather than a tank system so be sure to let the water run for a bit to get hot first. There was 0 issues with plumbing or the AC. There is a time during the day where there is a blackout for roughly 1 hour to help the power grid. Don't be alarmed.

The view from the hotel was absolutely incredible. We could see the pyramids from both our room and the lovely rooftop lounge style area. At night it's very well lit and guests are welcome to relax there whenever they'd like. They do offer beer for those who are interested in relaxing with a drink in hand.

The food was great. Granted we only had breakfast but we looked forward to it each morning. It was a traditional Egyptian style breakfast with eggs, beans, falafel, cheeses, fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, tea, coffee, grapes and guava, and a few more options. Definitely a wonderful way to start the day and it was included for us so we never left the hotel hungry and it was filling enough to easily hold us off until mid afternoon.

Basic security. They do have a monitoring system to protect the guests and their rooms as well as a locked gate. You will be given a key for your room and gate so don't worry about coming back late from your travels.

The experiences was absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Mohammed curated a whole experience for us. Day 1 we went to take ATVs to the desert around the pyramids and we also took a dinner cruise down the Nile after. Day 2, Dr. Mohammed personally came with us to visit the pyramids, took us to get a camel ride to view all the pyramids and sphinx, we went to a huge market where there were so many people and sellers (be prepared to be called out to and asked to check out the wares), we got to see how papyrus paper was made, we went to an aromatherapy/perfume location, and had a delicious lunch with him and our driver Karim (who was a very nice, honest, friendly man might we add). And day 3 we traveled to Alexandria with Lamia and Karim. Both were incredibly kind, friendly, and Lamia was very energetic and knowledgeable. She made sure to give us every bit of detail she could.

This trip has been absolutely stellar. God bless desert moon! Thank you everyone!

The first thing I noticed about Desert Moon was the wonderful energy of the place. Then the fantastic view of the pyramids, followed by a feeling of being welcomed and cared for by Dr. Mohamed and his wonderful staff. The rooms are clean, cozy and beautifully unique. The food is delicious, the fruit is full of flavor just like the city and its people. It’s a wonderful place. Dr Mohamed is not only a wonderful, loving host but a very wise man and a mentor. He will make you feel like you are family, and I cannot be more thankful for my experience here and how I felt throughout my time at his lovely, magical place.

The staff's hospitality was exemplary, ensuring every aspect of my stay was delightful. I highly recommend Desert Moon Hotel to anyone looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience in the shadow of the Pyramids.

I have been to Cairo several times and stayed in hotels in different areas each time. Credit where credit is due: Desert Moon is the best place I have ever stayed! You can enjoy a thrilling view of the pyramid from the rooftop, which is definitely a feast to the eye. All the staff there are soooo hospitable and friendly. The hotel doesn’t just offer you a place to stay, but also a place to learn, to enjoy and to relax, which means they provide other services including excursion. During my days there I felt like I had been staying with my family. And the foods are excellent. You would not want to miss the delicious breakfast which is already covered in the charge. It is really hard to say goodbye when I left as I felt it like a second home to me already. And I think I will definitely go back there next time I visit Cairo.

You must stay at the Desert Moon Hotel when visiting Cairo or Giza. The accommodations, hospitality, and views are superb and they are only just getting started. They have even more amazing plans for the hotel to make it an Egyptian Retreat! One of the owners Dr. Muhammad is an Egyptologist, so he is beyond an expert on the history of Egypt. He provides excellent tours to the pyramids, Alexandria, Cairo Museums and more. He is happy to share information to help you enjoy your stay. His wife is an excellent cook who makes breakfast and dinner that you can enjoy on the roof top with an unbeatable view of the Pyramids. Not to mention, the entrance to the Pyramids is seconds from the hotel. Our room also had an excellent view of the pyramids that you could enjoy from the comfy couch. The area is safe and the people in the community are extremely friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend you stay at the Desert Moon. They go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and the view of the pyramids is truly one of a kind. By the time we left, we felt like family, we are counting the days until we are able to return to the Desert Moon!

Desert Moon is an excellent and lovely boutique hotel. The rooftop has a restaurant facing the Pyramids. I stayed here and the service was impeccable. The hotel is family run and so much care is paid to detail and comfort of guests. Highly recommended when in Cairo.

Mr. Mohammed was an excellent host and took care of us as if we were his family. The visits he organized were incredible and we got to see unique places that we would never have imagined we could ever go (local and amazing places without even one tourist). It was a great experience!

If you are looking for a normal hotel to stay in, this is not it! This is an extraordinary place with an extraordinary host that will treat you like family more than just a simple guest. I have been to many hotels while travelling (all different experiences/countries), but I can assure you the host and the hotel will not disappoint! The rooms may seem small, but their hearts are bigger! And plus, you cannot beat the VIEW!

This place is in the outskirts of Cairo so be prepared to expect an hour Uber/Taxi ride to downtown Cairo, due to traffic (without traffic only 30 minutes). This place is also located near an Egyptian neighborhood so you might not be used to it, but they are nice people (just got to get to know their culture)!

We found this place accidently not expecting much, but Desert Moon Cairo has blown our minds! If you are thinking of staying near Cairo, this is it!

A big thank you to our Hosts for making our Anniversary a Very Very Special one!

Desert Moon is definitely affordable to be within views of the Pyramids of Giza. The real value is with the host and his staff. Dr. Mohammed is an excellent host and nice man. I highly recommend taking a tour with him to see the sights in Cairo. He is an expert in all things Egypt. He is highly regarded by his peers and a tour with him will greatly improve your experience in Cairo.

One of the best, cleanest and cheapest places in Cairo. It includes High speed WIFI all over the hotel. Also includes breakfast and I always let them know one day in advance what would I like to eat and they bring it for me. The view is wonderful it’s just right in front of the pyramids, also the people right there are so helpful, There is a doctor called Mohammed, he gave me many suggestions and advices for what to do and where to go in Egypt.

Owners of this hotel are passionate travelers and hedonists. And that is how we planned Desert moon. It is a CITY HOTEL. Guest leave in the morning to pursue adventures and they return back full of new impressions at sunset. In contrary to noisy streets of Cairo here awaits them clean room and calm music where they can sort their impressions and new plans in peace. Through small telescope they can get closer to stars and pyramids. From time to time some parrot can land on the fence and break the silence or some time even a hawk from the dessert.
