After the long wait for the renovations, the result is excellent. Well displayed artifacts with labels to describe (most of) them.
It may be our memories but we don’t recall there being a second floor before.
Plenty of polite staff around the museum.
A nice cafe area in the centre.

A wonderful museum, modern, spacious and full of interesting exhibits. Large area on several floors. There is also a cozy cafe in the courtyard. But unfortunately, the cafe did not have anything on the menu. An excellent place for an informative time with family.

I added this place to my favourite destinations in Alexanderia. If you're interested in history and art, you have to give this place a visit. I'm pretty sure you're gonna love it like I did. The place isn't fully opened yet, but the parts opened were enough to see how great this era was!!!!
The lights were also really good and suitable for the statues.
The ticket costs 40 L.E for Egyptians/ Arabs
And 300 L.E for foreigners

Awesome place
You will find pieces from different ages Greek, Roman and Coptic.
You will feel that you taken in a tour in ages.
Unique and beautiful pieces you never seen in any other place.
I will share with you some of them, but I really have taken hundreds of photos that i can't upload.
If you didn't visit it yet, you have to consider a visit soon.

Such an amazing museum the whole experience is perfect from the beginning when u enter each era and find out everything about it, witch is all labelled and have a full description for it. The decorations and lighting is very important in such places witch they mastered.
The only noticeable negative is they only accept visa so you cant buy ticket in cash

The museum is located very close to center of the city
It has been closed for renovation for so many years now it is really a must visit site
The crew is very professional and helpful and all items have a little details card
The visit is about a couple of hours it all depends on how interested you are in history

The visit was really good..the price was 20LE for students...300 LE for tourists.they dont take cash only VISA..you dont need a tour guide as everything was in chronological order and more direct. It takes like an hour for complete tour..staff was friendly and more assisting

Such a well thought out and curated museum. I expected it to be jam packed with artifacts but it was minimal, aesthetically pleasing and focused on a relatively small window of history. The displays were well lit, presented and informative. This place really stands out in a city like Alexandria.

The archaeological museum was inaugurated in 1895, it is located in Lazarita district in Alexandria downtown, nearly 700m from the sea and 900m from the train station. The museum is well known for its fine pieces dating from the Greco-Roman (Ptolemaic) era. It is newly reopened after major renovation, and a landmark in its place that is worth visiting.

We have to wait for 20 years to see this great museum once again. Whats a moment!

Nice museum scenario, nice trip. Great trip.
It still needs some work, as missing many labels for some pieces, and mis-locating some pieces.

But generally, it is a great place to visit.

The Graeco-Roman Museum in Alexandria, Egypt, is a treasure trove waiting to be explored. Having recently reopened its doors after 18 years of meticulous renovations, it's a must-visit for anyone fascinated by the rich history and cultural blend of this ancient city.

The Graeco-Roman Museum is not just about showcasing artifacts; it's about bringing history to life. Informative displays and multimedia presentations provide context and insights into the lives and achievements of the people who lived in Alexandria during this fascinating period.

A wonderful museum, starting from the well maintained plaza outside to the amazing exhibits inside. I never thought I can see this in Egypt. You can also enjoy a refreshment in queen court in the middle and it hosts events, i saw some people setting up speakers. I would have attended but im only in town for one day. Strongly recommended 👌

The Greco-Roman Museum of Alex deserves a visit. It opened just a few months ago. It is possible to take pictures with the mobile phone. The visit of the museum starts with the artefacts of the Greek era, it's followed by the Ptolemaic period, the Roman and the Coptic. There are beautiful statues of the Roman emperors. At the upper floor are displayed mainly coins from the Greco Roman period and small jewels. Toilets are located at the first floor. Cafeteria at the ground floor, just before the exit.

This museum has been closed for 18 years but it is worth the wait 😍❤ Gorgeous pieces, great layout, they have a temple inside the museum which is a first time in an Egyptian museum. They also have a super cute outside cafeteria with a huge roman statue and a staircase with greek columns. Must visit if you’re visiting Alexandria

Excellent! We visited it in one of the first days after reopening. The museum is wonderful, so many statues, mosaics, artifacts! The place itself is clean, completely renovated, added modern light systems - all like in the world's best museums. Definitely, this museum is the largest and most interesting in Alexandria. For English speaking cost is 300 egp, for Arabic speaking - 40 egp. There was a queue for about 15-20 minutes in the ticket office.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Alexandria Roman Museum, and I must say it was an extraordinary experience that left me in awe of the rich history of Ancient Rome. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was transported back in time to a world of architectural marvels, artistic masterpieces, and captivating stories.
