El Sitio Juice Bar y Restaurante

My girlfriends vegetarian quinoa was not the best, but my maracuja fish was exceptional! Tasted like in a gourmet restaurant and at $7.50 it's unbeatable with salad, rice & yuca (not on picture).

Simple restaurant with simple menu.
But man is that simple food outstanding!
We had the chicken with Garlic and also with Passion Fruit sauce. It was great! If you are not a big eater, share or ask for a smaller portion. They serve large plates with food.

I have just eaten one of the best meals of my life, and it was at a place advertising as a juice bar. Honestly I have been blown away by this place, the owner was such a nice guy and was happy to explain anything to us, even though we don't speak much Spanish. The service is exceptional.

The atmosphere is perfect, very quiet and chilled, with Bob Marley tunes being played all night at just the right level.

The food though, THE FOOOOOOD! we were the only people in the restaurant and the food was not rushed out, or preprepared in any way. Infact you can tell the chef takes an immense amount of pride and care with the food he is serving as everything was cooked to order, and to perfection. Me and my partner are both "foodies" and THIS is food. Fresh ingredients, spiced to perfection with the perfect balance of flavours. The chips (fries?) were beautiful and my garlic chicken did not skimp on the garlic (as it should be) we have been traveling South America for 2 months now and this is hands down the best meal we have eaten on the continent.

We are only in Mindo for 3 days and normally we would try as many of the local restaurants as possible, but it's going to be so hard to go anywhere else knowing that this food is just around the corner. We have already decided to return here tomorrow for breakfast (which we don't normally do because we are backpackers) where I will no doubt update this review to talk about the best breakfast I ever had.

Don't let the juice bar add on fool you, this guy should be cooking in a Michelin starred restaurant, charging through the nose, but instead he is serving amazing food at a great price in a lovely quaint village in Ecuador. I really can not recomend this restaurant enough!

Edit. Went back a few times afterwards and was slightly less impressed, but still a great place to eat in mindo

Honestly, this is the best restaurant during our months of travelling South America. And we didn't expect it, because the place looks nothing like fancy, but like a normal Ecuadorian restaurant. When reading the menu, we noticed, that the typical Ecuadorian dishes had a special touch and when our food came, oh boy, this was sooooo delicious! We had "Lomo con salsa de café" and "Pollo con salsa de maracuyá", both really good. The Lomo came as a beef steak, medium, and the coffee sauce, a dream coming true. Same for the pollo, super tender, and the maracuyá sauce really fruity. Both dishes had a little salad made of cooked veggies (perfectly cooked, not too soft) and a great dressing. As well we could choose side dishes as rice, french fries, yuca fries, ... We loved it!
For dessert we had fruits flambéed in white wine and sugar with chocolate sauce and ice cream. As well perfect.

The prices are very good for this high quality, we paid just 25$ for the main dishes, the dessert and our drinks.

Also the service is really nice and polite and we especially liked the chef. He is quite a young guy and when we asked him, where else he worked before (because this food tasted like he learned in a high class restaurant), he told us, that he just went to a little bit of school and developed the recipes all by himself. A true artist and very down to earth at the same time.

Beautiful presentation, well prepared , and delicious. Friendly chef, cool jazz, nicely decorated. Had fish filey sauteed with coco sauce. Fresh crisp vegetables in salad. Large portion

Very good food - dinner, lunch and breakfast. Portions are big and well seasoned!
We asked for an early breakfast and they opened earlier for us. You can get more than just toast here for breakfast, try the torta de yucca or the creation del chef :) Staff is very friendly, too. Thanks a lot!

Excellent service. The product cost ratio is excellent and adequate. Recommended the place to go to eat. Plus, Chef Willie is a great cooker and a friendly person.

Nice guys and a delicious veggie burger. And the fish with passion fruit sauce....fantastic.

Very reasonably priced for dinner and a good amount of food! Tried burgers, coffee steak and locro de yuca and all was delicious!

If you don't stop here when you are in Mindo you are making a big mistake. Great chef young man on the way up.
