This is a genuine cozy Danish smørrebrød restaurant, the best in Copenhagen I think. Good size food portions (and drinks). I made a mistake though in our pre-order (as we were 10 people) and managed to order three large open sandwiches… Felt like three main courses:)

A fabulous finer dining lunch experience. Bustling and busy, crowded and a little cramped. The food however was exceptional. The service excellent. I had the pickled herring and the Dutch potato open sandwiches. You must have the classic schnapps with the herring.

Excellent place for a Danish "frukost" (lunch). Smørrebrød and danish bistro-esque cousine on the menu. I would recommend that you start with matjes with some Aalborg akvavit (I prefer dill flavour) and a beer whilst you contemplate what to get for your second serving. Two servings was ok from the smaller dishes, but not huge amounts of food by any means, and on a hungy day I would've gone for three or two of the larger dishes.
And don't forget, treating akvavit as a shot is barbarism, sip on it, let it blend with the flavour of the matjes!

Absolutely beautiful food and great attention to detail. Our server was a very friendly and helpful gentleman who had great suggestions. We loved the traditional Danish schnapps and smorrebrod for lunch.

One of the best places in Copenhagen for Smörebröd. Its been around for a long time and keeps its high standard in regards to food quality, service and venue. Matjesild is a favorite. Should you be around for Christmas lunch, this is the place to go! Book in advance.

This is the place to visit if you want to have a taste of Denmark - smørrebrød! You can - in addition to excellent food - experience luxurious, old-fashioned surroundings, polite waiters, good service, white starched tablecloths and napkins, and china made by one of the finest potteries in Denmark. But you must also be willing to pay the price

In my opinion this is the best place to get classic Danish smørrebrød in Copenhagen. The service is impeccable, the food itself is great and the place as a whole epitomise Danish hygge. The place is usually packed, so reserving a table is absolutely recommended.

Came here for lunch. The service was wonderful. Everything was delicious but the highlight for me had to be the “pyramid shrimp.”
