A popular tourist spot in Copenhagen. The statue itself is rather small but worth a visit. Copenhagen itself is a charming city.

A tourist attraction of Copenhagen. It's in a park and you can have a good view of the sea. There's a field of windmills on the opposite side. You can get a hot drink (e.g. coffee, tea, chocolate) from the coffee car that park next to the status.

An iconic and beautiful sculpture. Yes, the area is overloaded with tourists, but the walk out to the area is great, and goes through a large park. You can also walk through the old fort on the way. The statue will be appreciated the most by people who enjoy art.

Beautiful, elegiac, and poignant. Take a moment and soak in the surroundings - you won’t be disappointed. Statue is a mixture of sadness, freedom, and a sense of being trapped in motion. Brilliant.

The beautiful sculpture is sitting on a rock and surrounded by water body. The statue of The Little Mermaid is from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale. Its more than 100 years old (unveiled in the year of 1913). Spectacular views all around. The place was moderately crowded, and be careful on the slippery rocks.

To see the Little Mermaid is surely a must if one is in Copenhagen. We took a stroll down the Park to the seafront ,it was crowded with visitors taking her picture. Indeed she is really little, sitting there waiting to meet her Prince! Happy that i got to see her !

Nice statue - it is much smaller than I imagined. Decided to visit it during late evening as then the tourists were a bit less. Access to the statue is via a garden which is nice as well.

Her story is sad, but beautiful. I really enjoyed looking at the stunning little mermaid. If you do come here, Beware of the winds and slippery rocks.

I would recommend possibly coming on a sunny day.

The Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen is a must-see iconic landmark that beautifully captures the enchanting tale of Hans Christian Andersen. While petite in size, the statue emanates a powerful and whimsical presence, resonating with the allure of the fairy tale. Perched gracefully on the waterfront, the Little Mermaid is a symbol of Danish storytelling and maritime heritage. However, due to its fame, the site can get crowded, so timing your visit wisely is recommended. Despite its modest size, the statue's cultural significance and the picturesque surroundings make it a charming and memorable stop for visitors exploring the charm of Copenhagen.

I loved it! People say it is overhyped but i enjoyed looking at it. There was a big crowd around it so you should wait for your turn but that is okay. I loved watching it and the people, it is kinda small, but for free.

This place is beautiful and peaceful. We took the train there and walked for about 10-12 mins. The gardens, monuments and fountains around this area are also very nice.

Even if isn't the real Little Mermaid, all tourists who visited Kobenhavn must see it. We, me and my husband, reached this place in the early hours of morning and no one was there. Peace and happiness till a large group of asian peoples arrived and quiet was blown up. But, already was time to go. P. S. We saw Little Mermaid 's sister at Roskilde Cathedral.

Beautiful spot right near a seaside park. Great place to get a coffee and talk a walk with a loved on, or just sit on a bench and enjoy the view. Truly tranquil! The smell of the ocean and the sounds of the boats nearby are lovely. Be sure to bring a jacket - it’s chilly!

She is sooo small! 😍
It takes some time for you to take a proper photo, usually there is no more than 20 people around her.
“Little Mermaid” is one of the most known fairytales from Hans Christian Andersen who was Danish. 🥰

Carl Jacobsen fell in love with the character after watching a ballet performance based on the fairy tale at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen.

The Little Mermaid was a gift from Danish brewer Carl Jacobsen to the City of Copenhagen.

The brewer was so captivated by both the fairy tale and the ballet that he commissioned the sculptor Edvard Eriksen to create a sculpture of the mermaid.

She was discovered in 1913. 🥰

It was a long walk to see this and I am glad I got to see it but it’s not so spectacular that you skip something better just to see this. And I am just saying if you plan a trip to Copenhagen for a day, then skip this and go enjoy your day elsewhere. This is like the Mona Lisa or the Belgium boy peeing in the fountain. It is small, overcrowded and not worth the hype.
I was in Denmark for 4 days and took the time to see it and I am happy I did because I had my spouse and it was a chill day. Plus we spent the time in the park nearby.
There is no fee that you have to pay to come and see this. This is absolutely free but it can take about 15 minutes walking if you start from the Amelia’s palace area.
