You gotta go to this place! Very traditional and classic cozy old world charm atmosphere. We loved it. Especially when our amazing waitress suggested some special Schnapps to have with each sandwich we had. The horseradish one was amazing as was the lemon. And when she poured it at the table it formed a perfect meniscus on the top of the glass! One of our best meals.

We loved Told & Snaps. We had fantastic herring with shots of homemade snaps—one with dill and the other with lemon and thyme. And we very much enjoyed the attentive service. Definitely an authentic spot to visit in Nyhavn, rather than ending up in some of the tourist traps in the area.

Really great Danish smørrebrød (traditional open faced sandwiches) in a cosy restaurant with great service, and reasonable prices. Our US friends who had never had smørrebrød, just loved it. We had 1.5 pieces each which seemed right for us, but I would think that 2 pieces each is probably more normal if you are hungry. Everything we tasted was amazing, but the highlight was the herring, the tartare and the roast beef. We will definitely be back. Do book a table in advance as it gets busy.

Amazing traditional Danish food, the famous smørrebrød. We tried herring, fried fish (yum), steak tartar and “gammel knas” cheese. Cheese was hands down our favourite! A must try.

If you are in Denmark and you want to taste AUTHENTIC Danish traditional "Smørrebrød" Told & Snaps is the place you want to go! The ingredients are fresh and first grade, the service is fantastic and the atmosphere is something you will not find anywhere else cause it isn't something you can create, it's authentic. I highly recommend asking the waiter what Snaps he/she recommends for each Smørrebrød!
BTW - we got strawberrys with whipped cream for desert - heavenly!!

Delicious lunch …our first in Copenhagen we wanted a traditional experience…. Just around the corner from Nyhavn down a few stone steps we found a cozy room with very friendly staff…we were the only non-danish there! Began with some refreshing local beer and then 3 smorresbrod to share with 2 schnapps. [ from their huge collection) as recommended to accompany our choices (and perfect they were!).
Curry herring and pickled herring in port wine with tasty accompaniments, then sardines with onion and egg yolk with toast, then rye with egg, mayonnaise and Greenland prawns..
Goodness…a friendly and delicious experience..
Didn’t really need dessert but keen to try the Apple crips cake… vanilla cream.. yum!
I would thoroughly recommend here as a tradition and friendly experience..will return asap!

Stopped by the place around the corner from all the other touristy restaurants. Ordered 2 types or smorrebrods open sandwiches of herring that were amazing. Great service and tasty food. Also had the goats cheese.

If you want to eat smørrebrød this is the place to be. So delicious. The guy who served us was so funny. I really want to come back here, just for him to make my day. 😄

Regardless being in Denmark for quite a few years now, I could never find the place to taste some real authentic (and delicious) Danish food. Until I tried Told & Snaps. I went for the Fried Fish with Shrimps and Remoulade and I didn’t regret it. I would even say that it was such an eye-opening experience that both me and my friends couldn’t help to go for a second and try more, share the experience. Trully amazing! And the best part? We were given a shot of snaps that would compliment the dish. P.S. The lemon one was sooo good. Excellent service, great attention to details, snaps shots and all of that together with the true spirit of the Danish traditional food. Fully recommend.

If you’re in Copenhagen, you have to try the local speciality smørrebrød at this establishment. With a diverse menu, you decide on the meal you want and the staff will pair a schnapps with your meal. My pairing was amazing. Great restaurant!

Beautiful smørrebrød in a lovely restaurant with great service. We had the Jacob's Special, roast beef, fillet of plaice with shrimp, steak tartare and the roast beef. Everything was excellent and paired with some snaps and a few beers. Would definitely recommend. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

Great local food and amazing service! Even though it is close to touristy areas, the prices are great and you get to experience tradicional Danish food. Come without a doubt if you are in Copenhagen!!!

One of the best choices for a traditional Danish lunch in Copenhagen. Located a couple of steps below street level on a side street just off the busy and often crowded thoroughfare of Nyhavn. Friendly and good service and traditional lunch dishes prepared from scratch with fresh and delicious raw materials. Extensive selection of home made «Snaps».

Amazing danish sandwiches coupled with perfect home made schnapps. You will not be disappointed !

Just one of the best places in the kingdom of Denmark. Not to pricey, great staff, amazing food, wonderful vibe.
