Tirpitz Museum Reviews

Simply fantastic and a must-visit when in the area.
The museum is extremely well made and the included audio guide is a wonderful narrative, self paced, and comes in multiple languages.
Besides the actual bunker there are other temporary exhibitions as well and in good weather the roof tops of the museum are basically a playground for kids and adults alike.
There’s parking out front and a walkable path, but not easily accessible for wheel chairs or people that are not sturdy on their feet; the bunker itself is uneven, dark, and with changing surfaces.
We highly recommend you make this a priority when in the area.

Nice place! Spend a lot of time there. Cool media show in the viking room. The bunker and the story about this place is told really nice. This place offers a lot and I really mean a lot of audio spots you can check out with your audioguide devices. Good stories and very interesting information.

This is a brilliant museum! Whereas some other museums are a bit too dark for smaller kids, this was just awesome! The whole family loved it - even our youngest son walked around and listened with interest!
The free audio guide was perfect! It came in three languages (Danish, English, and German), and the amount of information at each place was just adequate.
The exhibitions were very interesting, and the lunch at the museum's cafe was excellent.
We warmly recommend others to visit!

Everything about this place was outstanding. The grounds and architecture really set the stage well and heighten anticipation. Being greeted by a Mammoth family was also a great touch. The installations - especially the 4d - were world class. We learned so much and had a blast doing it.

Visited on Easter Monday. Sure was glad that we found this place, what an interesting and immersive experience. Would definitely recommend you visit Tirpitz if you’re in the Blåvand area. The two of us just walked in and bought tickets without issue, you may need to book online for groups of 10+ people!

The location of the space right in the middle of nature is wonderful. The architecture / design of the spaces including lighting solutions is fantastic. The audio guides and the personal stories are very helpful to learn about experiences people had. The vegetable burger in the cafe tasted very well. Thanks for a very good learning experience.

Its a beautiful landscape south of Blåvand lays classic attraction in the shape of Tirpitz.
One of the biggest gun positions in the Atlantic Wall during World War II was meant to be placed at Blåvand. It was never finished, though, as the war came to an end before the construction was complete. Through two decades this ruined bunker was a popular museum but in 2017 it was replaced by a new museum containing four large sections with separate exhibitions. The roof is planted with lyme grass and the whole building is camouflaged as part of the landscape with the bearing parts of the construction hidden under the sand.

Love this place! And want to go back again for sure.
The architecture is great and the exhibitions are really interesting. Quite a mix of different exhibition topics: local history, second world war and amber - all presented in a very clever way. The bunker itself is really interesting too.
...and the the cafe of course - nice food and drinks selection.
Our kids really enjoyed it too!

Nice experience …😀A place with interesting things to see. The delight of the visit was for us the 3D movie from the big room. I will gladly return next time👍

Beautiful designed museum by BIG architects. I really loved the interactive exhibitions and how you get information via the audio set. We learned a lot about the WW2 in Denmark and the how life was in bunkers in general. Very impressed by the scale of the bunker itself.
Tip: you can walk around the museum in the dunes and enjoy the nature.

Very well designed museum by Bjarke Engels Group for Tirpitz Museum near the Danish West Coast. Great exhibitions about 5 different times in historie with focus on the World War II period and the building of the Tripitz bunker.

Sadly we didn’t realize you had to book online beforehand but did get to enjoy the outskirts of the museum. It is highly recommended by the locals and many friends.

This Place is more than interesting form the historical perspective. It’s a totally modern place in a impressive architecture. The museum and the underground and light architecture is one of a kind. There’s some permanent Installations and a big monumental 4d show in the one Room. You really need to visit this player if you can. Also food and the souvenir shop is filled with pretty high-class stuff.

Megalomaniac! The Tirpitz bunkers were a last megalomaniac outgrowth of the Atlanik Wall. In 1944, the German armed forces began construction of two gigantic artillery bunkers for coastal defence. It was intended that a 38cm SK C/34 gun turret would be placed on top of both bunkers, gun turrets that were originally designed for the Bismarck battleships. The artillery was never completed as the 19.63 meter long, 111 ton guns were too heavy for the bridges in Varde and also because the war was over.
The renovated bunker museum opened its doors in 2017; it houses three permanent exhibits (An Army of Concrete - West Coast Stories - Gold of the Sea). Well worth a visit!
