Gorgeous. Walking back into history and quite a view along the way. The walk down and back up is NO JOKE, so don’t hesitate to take the shuttle, but it’s worth the effort if you can make the hike.

Burg Eltz Castle is so pretty. Be prepare to hike to the castle and back to the car, if you want to capture beautiful photos like you see in my post. They do have bus shuttle from the parking lot to the castle and back if you don't want to hike. We took the bus shuttle to the castle and after the tour we hiked to the 2 photo spot. Hiking up is was intense. I advise if you want to take photos to hike the castle because you are going downhill, do all your photo shoots. Then after the castle tour, can take the shuttle bus back up to the parking lot.
This castle was first mentioned in history in 1157. It has been the Eltz family for 850 yr and through 33 generations. This is impressive! This is a must visit castle. So much Eltz history.

One of the most impressive and beautiful castles in all of Germany. Owned by the same family since it was built. We parked at the parking lot and chose to walk through the woods rather than take the bus. The walk took us about 20 minutes. We also took the tour and thoroughly enjoyed what was shared by the guide. Would recommend to anyone who is visiting Germany.

Beautiful castle from the outside and the surrounding area. But nothing very majestic or extraordinary inside. Small rooms and you can visit only a few. No photo taking inside. The most impressing things – some original bedroom & dinner room furniture, the original ceiling beam and great kitchen area and the cooking items. We drove from Frankfurt area, took less than 2hrs. The parking is €4, the entrance is €14, the tour is included (German & English). Didn't need to book in advance. Purchased our tickets inside the castle gate. A nice 15-20 min walk to the castle. Just watch your kids not to go to the edge. There is bus to take you right near the castle for $2 but we decided to walk than taking the scary bus ride. The staff were nice. There is a small restaurant before you go in the castle. Prices are reasonable. They have Free toilets for men and women. Good amount of parking space.visited 28 Oct, 23

Beautiful castle that is set up to show what life over the past several centuries would have been like. Our tour guide (I forget her name) was very good at her job. The tour was very informative and she was able to answer all of our off-script questions pleasantly and with humor.

The short walk up and back provided great bookends to our visit.

It's unfortunate that one cannot take photos inside of the castle.

Very very very nice castle with over 80 rooms. The location is insane, build on top of a rock surrounded by hillsband forrest. Entrance price is 14 euro. Parking is free. Mind you the walk to the castle is about 20 minutes! To the castle is fine, going back could be a struggle. There is a shuttle bus also, 2 euro per person. The castle is only visited by tour! It took some long waiting, about 40 minutes. The treasure chamber excluded, you can walk around there. We took the English tour, perfect! Recomended castle to visit if you are in the neighbourhood.

It was a fascinating experience! When you arrive at the parking lot you can take the bus in high season or arrive by car. The other option is to take a path through the forest that takes you straight to the Castle. You will always meet people who work in the Park, students and many people walking. This path makes you imagine how everything worked centuries ago and how many people walked there. And you can take beautiful photos, see Robins and Koolmees. The walk is difficulty level 2.

Very beautiful place!!!

Magical atmosphere inside and near the castle) we've been there on Sunday afternoon.

I think it is very nice to come there around 16, take a tour or take a cup of coffee in the Cafe inside the castle. And around after 19, stay outside, look at the castle in sunset light without people 👌

The tour was interesting. We went in the morning on a weekday and it was fairly quiet, but it quickly got busier towards mid day. There is a shuttle option from the car park for 2 euro pr person. It is nice walking through the forest and suddenly spot the castle. It is quite well hidden in a river valley.

Very picturesque castle, would definitely recommend a visit. The tour was a real highlight and maybe ~ 1 hour. (No photos inside though)
Tickets may be purchased at the front of the castle (don't need to book ahead).
There are separate lines for the English tour and the German tour once inside the main walls.
I'd recommend trying for the higher parking lot if possible. We parked in the first lower lot and the walk was maybe 45 min to the castle itself and while lovely it was a trek.

The castle is remarkably well-preserved and it's hard to belive that it has more than 800 years history!
Walking through the enchanting forest to reach the castle was a delight in itself.
I visited the guided tour (14€ for an adult) and it definitely worth money spent. The interior of the castle is equally captivating, filled with historical artifacts and stories that transport you back in time.
I highly recommend visiting this gem in the heart of the German countryside. Burg Eltz is a must-visit destination, and it's easy to see why it's considered one of Germany's most beautiful castles.

Absolutely stunning castle. There is a steep road path (paved) and a 1km trail through the woods! Highly recommend the trail! As you will have an amazing view of the castle from a great view point. The entrance fee for the inner castle gets you access to the courtyard as well as German or English guided tours through the inside of the castle (take about 30-35min, short wait during off-season) as well as access to the treasure exhibit. Gift shop, toilets and restaurant inside as well. I definitely would recommend taking a day trip there. For €2 a person l, you can take the shuttle back to the parking lot afterwards.

Not tremendously big, but very beautiful with a lot of original pieces still very much intact.

We arrived around 10 am and did the easy walking trail which ends at the foot of the castle. The trail takes about 20 minutes. Once there we were able to get photographs of the bridge leading up to the castle without any people in it. Best to get there early if this is what you are looking for. It's a no-fly-zone for drones though, so keep that in mind too.

The guided tour, which is mandatory to view the inside was a lot of fun in my opinion. Our guide was knowledgeable and funny. The tour took around 40 mins I would say. Afterwards you can visit the treasure by yourself and it's included in your ticket. Some nice pieces in ivory, gold, and silver can be found here, including some weaponry.

Cost of entry is 14€ per adult and 4€ parking. If you want to take the shuttle bus to get back to the parking, it cost 2€ per person. I would suggest taking the shuttle back, but walking the road or the trail to get to the castle as this will give you some nice panoramic views and photos to take home.

We went offseason so the castle was closed.
We knew about it beforehand so it was just a little Saturday walk with friends visiting us and we could take nice shots of the castle because nobody else was there !

Eltz castle is surely one of the prettiest and picturesquest medieval castles in Rhineland-Palatinate. It became a popular and more famous tourist spot due to Instagram in the past years. It is easy to reach and the tourist infrastructure is very good. The castle is gorgeous from outside. The inner rooms are a little less spectacular.

Beautiful historical castle, amazing views and landscape.

We really enjoyed our English guided tour that was part of our ticket. The tour was really insightful and interesting.

If you're able to hike, would recommend walking down to the castle, see how you go, then at the bottom decide whether you can hike up or take the shuttle for €2

Entrance to the castle was €14, which is alright considering it comes with a guided tour.

Also the souvenir shop was amazing, lots of great items for great price

Closed until March 2024. However, there is a very nice walking path from parking area to the castle. The villages and nature on the road to the castle are also very beautiful.

Amazing magnificent place ! Excursion takes 45 minutes. There is a free toilet and 2 cafes inside. Entrance price is around 15€ plus 2€ is one way bus . Castle is surrounded by mountains so you can walk down to get there and take a bus to go back up the mountain to leave the place.

One of my favorite castles in Germany and well worth the visit. The parking is €4 and the entrance is €14 and a tour is included (German and English offered). From the parking area, you can take a bus to the entrance or simply walk/hike there. The hike wasn't bad at all and I feel is part of the overall experience. The castle itself is very well preserved and maintained.

What an amazing castle to see. Beware of a very steep hill down and back. There is a bus that costs €2 each way. I recommend taking it. What amazing views and furnishings!
