It's very well maintained. Fishes are beautiful and enjoy large space to swim. Kids enjoy it a lot. It combines amazingness with very thorough natural content. You can learn about minerals and stones too!
Top hint: it has a cafeteria on the first floor with nice view to the street and public square.

Main exposition is free, definitely worth visiting. "Zoo" part is just great, super modern, aquarium is breathtaking. However fossils part wasn't that interesting, so I can't recommend it for that one.

The museum is located directly in the center of the city next to Ettlinger Tor. It has really great exhibits and is very educational. Worth a visit if you have time and are interested in science. You can only pay with cash (unless you have a German debit card) and it is 5€/person.

A great mix of minerals, breathing and post breathing animals. Well displayed, fun and well cared for. The staff was friendly and though we had to use Google translate to read the signs (as they are only in French and German) we still had a great time.

A shout out to the guy who was cleaning the Axolottl's water. He is truly a gem for taking time to talk to us about the Axolottls in the tank.

A really fun and interesting place to spent the time with friends and family getting to see a very impressive collection of living and preserved specimens from around the world.

Their aquariums are really large and impressive, with sharks and all sorts of fish and marine life.

They also have mineral displays as well as fossils and various sorts of galleries that tend to change depending on the year.

Really friend staff.

Family friendly.

Lockers for storage and jacket area.

Parking nearby but also really easy to get to via tram or by foot.

Fair prices and also free on certain days.

Try buying online before you visit as corona has changed capacity limits but that tends to change along with the current corona cases within the city. Hopefully that won’t be an issue for much longer!

I was very impressed by this museum, although I only saw the 'vivarium' section. I went here with my 2 year old son and spent 2 hours between the fishes and reptiles. We both enjoyed the modern aquariums and vivariums, looking at and searching for the animals, before he became too tired to visit the rest of the exhibitions.

I noticed many interactive screens which makes the exhibitions interesting for kids of many ages.

For the price I paid just the part that I saw was worth it, thinking that there's so much more to see makes it absolutely worth the 5 €. Highly recommended.

Great museum, especially the mineral, fossil and aquarium areas. Cheap entry and plenty of wonderful specimens. The taxidermy area of extant animals is the only part that feels data.

With the aquarium being so good the museum can be a regular visit location instead of a once every few years like it used to be.

The aquarium with tropical fish is huge and the terrarium with snakes is spacious for the animals. The special exposition about the senses of animals, plants and humans is top class

Excellent Museum.
Lots of animals (alive or just an example), very interesting.
The kids really enjoyed it, adults too.
Prices are very fair - free for kids up to 17, 5 euro per adults.
A must see place! Well done.

The Museum is great for educational purpose and also very entertaining. It is not so big as in Berlin Natural History Museum but it has all the great section. Minimum 3 hours visit is necessary.

I really love and highly recommend this museum. You will find much more inside, than you expect. Explore and learn about living creature but also earth phenomena, history and of course dinosaurs etc. Just awesome and always worth a visit, over and over again. Must have seen in Karlsruhe.
