Beautifully kept and landscaped, this park is in the center of Bayamo. Steps away from the Casa de Cultura, shopping district and arts installation and Hotel Royalton. Everything in one scenic location! There is always music, wifi access, historic buildings, artists selling wares and a huge digital clock.

Each time I'm in this place, it's an experience of its own. Relaxing, nostalgic, fun and great for people watching. Be ware of peddlers asking for spare change or other favors.

The square is kept very clean. The surrounding buildings have been restored & it is well lit at night. A lovely spot to sit and listen to musicians in the evening.

In Céspedes Park, people of all ages meet and you can hear scraps of conversations and laughter everywhere. All kinds of initiatives are performed, like cultural, social or political, where a good number of people use to participate.

Another very attractive activity that gathers to numerous public is the execution of the traditional danzon by musicians from other decade who still reminds a time in which those rhythms used to permeate the Cuban air.

Structurally, the park has an ample square-tiled floor whose entry is in a wall with functional grilles that can be used as benches. Locals use to sit there and rest for a while of the intense heat from the Caribbean sun.

On the other side, if you decide to opt for a stroll, the large garden is divided into four parcels through two narrow tracks strategically located, both in horizontal and vertical, that allows to comfortably the whole square.

In the middle of the square, you can see a magnificent bust in bronze of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, the landowner who started in 1868 the struggle for the Cuban Independence.

This small, busy square can be regarded as the real heart of the city. It is where everyone (foreigners and locals) goes to chill out, listen to the municipal orchestra, hang out with both friends and total strangers, enjoy random musical acts from street musicians, art exhibitions, have a "maní tostado": local term for toast peanuts and finally, to take the pulse of the city by soaking up its vibrant Caribbean atmosphere.

Very beautifull place in Santiago de Cuba. Casa Grande Hotel is nearby (go to cafeteria on 5th floor for magnificent view), lot of clubs and restaurant. One of few places with public internet - however widi is not free (about 3USD for an hour, valid 1 month). One of must-visit places in Santiago de Cuba.

The Parque Céspedes is kind of the "centerpiece" of Santiago de Cuba, overlooked by the Cathedral and next to Casa Granda, the oldest hotel in town. A busy square where people enjoy the company of others or just watching the day going by, sell their artwork and handicraft, play music and tell stories. Close to the Casa de la Cultura and Casa de la Trova. A lovely place.

It is a relatively safe place to be at night with great lighting, and the church behind is so nice, with that huge bell.

Historical area, now under renovation to make it a walkable spot. Nice view from the top of Casa Granda Hotel, worth the time to visit it.
