Antonio Maceo is a hero of Cuba's Independence Revolution. The Plaza named for him is in the most Caribbean city of the country, hot (both literally and in atmosphere) Santiago de Cuba, in the south eastern end of the island (an hour's drive, east of the Guantanamo base).
The 53-foot-high statue of Maceo, by one of the country's foremost artist, the amazing painter & sculptor, Alejandro Lescay.
It is certainly one of the most impressive monument I have visited, anywhere in the world!

Fantastic memorial to Antonio Maceo! Take your time and get close to it to feel the strength and power meant to represent his passion for his country.

The tribute to revolutionary enslaved Africans was tremendous. The thought of what the place used to be was heart wrenching.

Es una plaza hermosa, con ese singular homenaje al General Antonio Maceo en su llamado a la lucha por la libertad de Cuba. Pero no sólo es una plaza, el conjunto monumental incluye un excelente museo dedicado a Maceo y tiene igualmente un confortable salón para eventos. Vale la pena visitarlo.

Công trình tưởng niệm tướng Antonio Maceo hoàn thành năm 1991 rất hoành tráng, gồm 02 phần, phần tượng bằng đồng lớn nhất Cuba dựng hình vị tướng cưỡi ngựa cao 16m và 23 thanh thép vươn lên xung quanh giống những lưỡi dao mattche biểu tượng cho tinh thần nổi loạn của người dân Cuba tìm kiếm tự do, xây dựng thành 1 quảng trường lớn với sức chứa 150 ngàn người. Phần 2 là bảo tàng chìm dưới mặt đất, trưng bày các di tích, tài liệu về Antonio Meceo. Đây đã trở thành 1 biểu tượng của thành phố Santiago de Cuba.
