The lodge surpassed our expectations by a lot and we would highly recommend! Their website does not do the rooms justice. The dreamy bungalows are nestled into the side of the hill allowing for breathtaking views from the porch. Very clean and comfortable rooms with an amazing shower, great water heat, with windows that look right into the foliage. There is no AC, but the evenings get cool enough that the windows open and a fan are enough. The provided breakfast is nice and there are options to choose from.

But the best part is the loop of trails that take you on 3 hanging bridges. The path is in excellent condition, covered in gravel and clearly marked. The bridges are wonderful for watching wildlife and looking at plants.

This lodge is a hidden gem and we’ll be back!

We visited only the hanging bridges park. Entry was $14 pP. The trail and bridges are very well maintained. It took us about 1 hour to complete the 2km long circuit. Definitely worth stopping by on your way to or from Rio Celeste NP.

We did not stay here but went on the hanging bridges walk. It was POURING which we as Seattleites didn't mind but ponchos are definitely the way to go! If you have good hiking sandals we would all recommend that over sneakers because everything will get soaked if it rains.
The bridges felt well constructed and the irrigation for storms worked very well.
Even though the downpour was fun and added a mystical element, we do wish that it had let up at some point so that we could actually look around. We heard some howlers but did not see any.
The only thing I would change was I wish the signs were in English as well as spanish. If you can't get your phone out to translate then it's hard to know what you're looking at!

Overall, if you're not a fan of rain, either opt for a different area or try to find a day where it's not raining.

This place has an amazing view. The receptionist was very nice, understanding, took time to explain everything (breakfast, trail, what to do in the area, etc) and even offered me the options to order food and deliver it directly to the room.
The room was very clean and spacious.
During the morning breakfast, you'll eat watching the birds also feeding outside. It's really peaceful and calm.
They sell drinks at the reception if you don't want to take the car to go downtown.
The place is beautiful and they also have a great trail in the forest with hanging bridges. The city is about 5 min down by car and I would suggest to have a 4WD to get there.

What a magical place! We had booked it for two nights, but as soon as we arrived we changed it to three nights, and we would have been happy for longer. The bungalow was so comfortable with the cool breeze blowing in from the valley and the sounds of crickets. The trails on the property are incredible. We were able to go on a walk at dusk and stand on a magnificent hanging bridge, just us and the monkeys, and listen to the haunting calls of the great tinamou, and then be back cozy in our bungalow a few minutes later. The staff were extremely responsive to our requests and served great food overlooking an active bird feeding area. We only left the property once, to go to Tenorio, and otherwise enjoyed walking on our own or with guides here, or relaxing in the hammock on our private porch. Heaven!

Nice place, beautiful surroundings and view, nice, big and clean rooms,
well maintained trails and bridges, note in low season the restaurant can be close, if you have a car there is no problem because there are some good restaurants nearby (but no by walk).
Perfect for birders or people looking for relax, quiet and nature
Only downside was no internet on rooms that all.

Room was really nice. Food was quite good. Views of Lake Nicaragua and it's volcano islands we're stunning. Trails and bridges are excellent. Spotted an incredible number of amazing birds while staying here too - Toucan, Great Curassow, Crested Guan, Montezuma Oropendola, Crested Caracara, 4-5 different humming bird specifics, and so many more.

We spent 2 nights here and had a really enjoyable time.
The staff are lovely, the food is tasty and beautifully presented, the views across to Nicaragua are spectacular and the 2 trails give an excellent rainforest experience.
We were sad to leave.

Just beautiful. Rooms are clean and comfortable with very nice details. Food is also great, but the highlight are the animals and the view from the premises. Would always come back.

This review is for the trail, not for the hotel (it should be marked separately on the map!)

We hiked this trail in the afternoon after we had been to Rio Celeste (so busy!) in the morning. At the desk we got a got explanation of what to look for at certain locations, and they didn’t oversell it. We first walked the small loop where we saw a beautiful yellow eyelash viper. The loop is small but very pretty. We then walked the larger loop where we saw some owls, monkeys and of course the beautiful hanging bridges. We only saw one other person during our hike. A relief after the minivan mobs at Rio Celeste!

Easily one of our favourite hikes in Costa Rica. After the hike we got a juice that’s included in the entrance price.

I absolutely loved spending two nights at this property. It’s clean, the jungle landscaping is beautiful, and the trails with the hanging bridges are unbeatable. It’s owned by the cutest family who went out of their way to be accommodating and hospitable. The included breakfast was fantastic... I still think about the fruit plate often haha. Definitely the best place to stay in Bijagua!

We did not stay at the hotel but this is a review of their nature park and walks.

It was absolutely amazing and very quiet. We saw all sorts of animals and the staff pointed us to places where certain animals were. It also has three amazing hanging bridges. Highly recommended!

Beautiful place to stay setup on the hillside. We enjoyed watching the weather rolling in and birds circling overhead from the balcony. Staff were super friendly and the lodge has some great hiking trails with amazing hanging bridges. Breakfast was excellent though doesn't start until 7.30am. The room was spacious and clean.

Two of the highlights from our two week vacation in Costa Rica (that covered 6 areas) was our night at The Heliconias Rainforest Lodge and our nighttime Frogs Paradise Tour (the two owners are brothers). The hotel was a perfect base for Volcan Tenorio. Waking up in the shadow of a Volcano was a once in a lifetime experience. The weather was perfect. The property trails are worth the visit by themselves (but the hanging bridges are not for those afraid of heights). Breakfast was wonderful.

The staff are outstanding. The boss runs a great operation. The chef offers amazing foods and can accommodate kids and special meal requests. Having instant access to coffee, tea, and snacks was helpful. I preferred their on-site trails over the National Park: a lot less people, more animals, hanging bridges, and no mud! Understand this is a rainforest on the side of a volcano: the weather can be windy, rainy, and to some, chilly. The hotel could improve on their signage and use of basics like toliet paper holders in the bathrooms.

We stayed for two nights. Owners from the community are spot on and made everyone feel at home. No effort spared to accomodate every wish. The garden is full of life: spiders, lizards, birds and even a resident sloth. The trail and bridges are also very nice and worth a visit.

We were here for the Hanging Bridges Trail. It was amazing to experience the rainforest from canopy level.
This tour was recommended to us by our hosts, Donald and Pippa, from Casitas Tenorio.
We loved walking through the rainforest on the small winding trail. The trail is around 1.5 kilometers long and takes you inside the lush rainforest.
You enter a heavily forested area that extends all around the Tenorio Volcano and is uninterrupted by human development.
That is why the chances to see wildlife are very high. We saw an ant eater, howler monkeys, lots of birds and butterflies.
The hanging bridges are impressive! Around 100 meters long and 35 meters high, they allow you to have a closer look at what goes on at the top of the rainforest.
Epiphytes, the plants that grow on the trees, are abundant. The bromelia plants look just like pot plants perched on tree branches.
In the distance we could see Lake Nicaragua with it's distinctive volcanoes in the middle. The view is breathtaking!
Looking down you can try spotting animals through the dense vegetation.
On the way back we saw the tapir's favourite tree, the Jicaro Danto, that has low hanging fruits that look like cucumbers, and nearby we saw fresh tapir marks.
After the walk we stopped and had a really nice lunch back at the lodge.
I highly recommend this experience if you find yourself in the area!
