The Green Tree Lodge

This is a very friendly place. The couple that live here and rent out the cabin/tree houses are lovely people. Very helpful. They keep the premises very clean. Breakfast was perfect start to every day. The forest location is peaceful and really helped us recharge and relax.

We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived -- everyone we met was cheerful, friendly, and helpful. All the charm of a B&B experience but still had plenty of privacy and space with how the cabins are arranged.

The cabins really are right up among the trees as advertised. No better way to enjoy a morning cup of coffee than on the deck listening to the birds and watching for critters while sitting among the branches. Had a lot of fun with bird call identifier apps.

Would heartily recommend this as a base for exploring the area.

Awesome breakfast with local ingredients. I've traveled to Costa Rica about 6 times and stayed at any locations. This cabin was clean, working refrigerator, hot showers, beautiful landscape, smart tv, and you are provided a flashlight. 7 mins to the action.

WE LOVED THIS PLACE. A cabin on stilts in the woods, surrounded by jungle noises at night, and a fantastic breakfast in the morning. Everything seemed so new and clean. We happened to be there during some windy nights, which dropped a bunch of things on the metal roof, but it just made it more adventurous. When we arrived at night from the northwest, google maps directed us to Green Tree Lodge via some steep, crumbly and rutted dirt roads. I should have read another review where they say to go to Santa Elena first, and then back to the lodge, which is much easier! Also, if you book directly through their website (which I recommend), you should also follow up with a confirmation. Our booking never got finalized but fortunately they had a cabin available for us. Phew! This was our favorite hotel / lodging in Costa Rica. If you stay here, you ought do the co-located night jungle tour, which starts and ends here. How much more convenient can you get? I'm so glad we booked here and not some place in town.

This place is a gem! The hosts are lovely and so helpful for all your needs. This place has chic rustic charm! All the amenities you need while feeling you are up in the trees with the birds! Highly recommend for an experience you will never forget ❤
Just know it is not walking distance to town. But well worth it and no human noises at all. Cheap taxi ride in.

Great place to stay! A little out of the way and very simple rooms but that’s the idea. Unique setting, some trails for wildlife viewing right on the grounds, a very cool Strangler Ficus tree by cabin #3 (in case you look the more famous one near downtown is now closed to the public), and an electric shower head, which you don’t see too much anymore. Would recommend for a different experience!

I can only agree with all the good ratings The Green Tree B&B gets. The rooms are comfortable and look amazing, the atmossphere in the forest is so nice. The staff was really friendly. The B&B is a bit off (about 7 minutes from Santa Elena but easy to find with Google-navigation and the signs). Be aware that you should have a SUV-sized car to get here because the road is a bit rough. I really recommend you this place!! :)

The place was very secluded, saw some great wildlife. The sounds of the forest were almost deafening at night, which added to the experience. The hosts made a great breakfast and were extremely accomodating as to what time you wanted it. Room could benefit from insect screens so the doors can be kept open.

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!!!! Currently the roads are gravel and rocks but it is sooo worth it I came to celebrate my birthday in Costa Rica 🇨🇷 sleeping among the trees is so relaxing 😌 and peaceful, the cabin is lovely all wood and smells of cedar you are surrounded by beautiful trees and the sound of birds . It is a family business and they are amazing, sweet, and outgoing Melanie (same birthday as mine🎂🎉) waited for me to arrive even though I was a little over an hour late to check in breakfast is included and cooked buy Her aunt Nuemy (I hope I spelled that correctly)they brought me a birthday cake 🎂 sat talked with me showed me a sloth that lives nearby and made an appointment for me to go zip lining I highly recommend this place. Soooooo beautiful!

Nice accomodation in the middle of cloud forest in small treehouses with bathroom, hot showers, veranda with chairs and beautiful view in the forest through large windows.
Breakfast was inćuded and the traditional costarican choise was very good!

Incredible off of the beaten path sort of place. Friends were apprehensive initially then never wanted to leave. Great breakfast options from typical to American fare w bacon.

Individual cabins on treetops with privacy. EXCELLENT quality/price ratio in a country that is rather pricey. Ms Elisabeth is warm and welcoming and takes care of all reservations for tours and meals in town. She even arranged for a New Year’s eve dinner in town which we could not have done as covid limited seating and every restaurant was full.
Good breakfast. A nightwalk is offered on the grounds ($20, to be paid to the guide).
To arrive, first go to the Santa Elena town center and only then seek directions to GreenTree as both Waze and Google Maps will likely send you the shortest way which might be an unpassable “dirt road” full of deep holes.
Definitely worh staying at Green Tree!

Unmissable.... Loved this place. We also did the night walk. Nothing too much trouble. Just beware of googlemap approach, a nightmare.... so dependant of which direction you are are approaching.

Our stay here was excellent! Great value. It was peaceful staying out in the forest. Beautiful property.
