Villa San Ignacio / Restaurante Pandora

Just outside of San Jose, so not a difficult drive after picking up the hire car. Lovely room, very tasteful and nice hot shower.
When we woke in the morning, we were amazed at the beautiful gardens, lovingly tended with an abundance of flowers and wildlife.
The pool area was just like an Italian villa I stayed before and everyone was breakfasting outside on the veranda. The breakfast was traditional and as much coffee as you like.
Lovely staff who couldn't do enough from the parking attendant, the cleaners, gardeners and waiters.
Everything was perfect and a fantastic start to our Costa Rica adventure. The pool was amazing and we walked around the extensive wildlife trails in the gardens.

We booked this hotel for one night for our arrival in San Jose but it turns out it is easily a good place for a few days stay.
The room was comfortable and clean.
Breakfast was excellent as was the service.
Staff were helpful and pleasant.
The pool area is great and the grounds very nicely kept.
This will be our go-to hotel for any visit to San Jose from now on.

Loved out stay here at the beginning of our trip so booked to stay before we flew home. Lovely staff, great food, comfortable rooms. Tip. Book taxi yo the airport with the hotel!

Perfect place only 20 mins from the airport but away from the hustle and traffic! (There is road noise if in front rooms). Beds were very comfy, wifi, aircon and hot showers. Great pool and delicious breakfast. All at a reasonable price. A great 1st experience in costa rica. Staff are very welcoming and helpful too. Thank you.

Perfect stay here at this hotel. So many positives to it

- close to SJO airport (about 20 mins and a $6 Uber)
- 1hr drive from attractions such as the Poas Volcano, coffee roasters etc.
- lovely pool to hang out in the sun
- restaurant food is great
- rooms were clean and spacious
- staff were all very friendly and helpful

No complaints and would come back again. Perfect for us before flying back out of SJO

What a lovely property. Our villa was so great after a long day of travel. We were able to order room service upon arrival and the food was delicious. Same with breakfast. We walked around the quaint property and had a peaceful stay. We will be back.

This amazing hotel is definitely worth a visit. It features manicured gardens with over a kilometer of foot trails, swimming pool, pool table, dart boards and a wonderful on-site restaurant bar. Our room was clean with a great air conditioner and a ceiling fan. The hotel and its rooms have been extensively remodeled without losing the charm of the original architecture. With all of that said, the people who work here are the embodiment of Pura Vida. From the moment we checked in with Thomas we were greeted with open arms. Oscar made sure that we were well taken care of at the restaurant Pandora. This experience was further bettered by the reasonable cost of the room and the restaurant. After 10 days of traveling across Costa Rica I can honestly say this hotel was our favorite by far. If you decide to stay with these people you will not be disappointed.

I was only here for less than 12 hours, but from my experiences, it was amazing. Service was great, staff brought us food before our flight even though it was 3 am and the kitchen was closed. Food was tasty and the rooms were comfortable and clean

Nice Hotel with clean, quiet room. Nice swimming pool. Very attentive and welcoming staff. Good food. Peaceful and tranquil. A bit out of the way and not so easy to get to unless you have GPS.

We have been to this place a few times and simply love it! The staff is so friendly, rooms are well-designed and very clean, beds are comfortable and the environment is beautiful. There are even hiking trails on the property which is surprising given the location. My family loved playing chess and pool. They gave our dog a doggy gift bag, a bed, and they even have a dog food menu! We had an early flight and the staff brought us coffee and a bagged breakfast at 4:30am. If you need somewhere near the airport or near San Jose, you can’t do better than this place. Thanks again for a great stay!

Amazing hotel just west of San Jose. The property is not in the most idea area for tourists, but it is well protected with tons of parking. Very scenic property. They have their own private trails. Theater room, reading rooms, and game rooms. Pool was very well kept and everything was clean. All staff were super friendly. Restaurant on site was very good. The room was premium compared to other stays in Costa Rica. Closer comparison to American hotel rooms, but with a more personal, vacation vibe.

So happy I found this place! I spent the day here, enjoyed the pool and the people working here are so friendly! A beautiful property and I saw many butterflies.

We arrived just before midnight, and the guard at the gate was very friendly and let us to our room. The room was nicely done and very large. The view from the balcony was stunning, overlooking lights of town and hills. In the morning we could see that the grounds are beautiful! because we got in late, we missed the normal cut off for breakfast, but they served us anyway! Breakfast was included in our night stay. The staff was exceptional and some of the best we’ve encountered on the whole trip! Can’t say enough good things about this place! Wish we had more than just one night there.

Nice and easy going hotel. Professional yet personal staff, close to the airport (without the noise of the planes), brilliant dome-shaped family room, good restaurant and nice pool.
Only one very small downside: what’s with all the windows without curtains? After a 12 hour flight, a dark room is very welcome to get back to the land of the living.

We stayed here before our return flight because of the proximity to the airport, and I wish our stay could have been longer. The grounds are a tranquil oasis in San Jose. The food was absolutely delicious, some of the best food we had during our trip. The staff were very kind and helpful. Highly recommend!

Great first night in Costa Rica after arriving at the airport. We found it easily driving with Waze even in the dark. The room was clean and recently redecorated. We enjoyed a lovely dinner with great service. Included breakfast in the morning was good too - lovely to sit out by the pool. All the staff were very attentive, helpful, and friendly. Would be a great spot for a group as it has meetings rooms and a large group can eat dinner together.

Great little spot that we were so grateful to discover. We arrived late in the evening and left early in the morning. All of our interactions with staff were fantastic and we appreciated the 4:45am brown-bag breakfast drop off directly to our room. Not to mention, the room was clean, cute and comfy!

Arrived after a late flight, check in was quick and easy. The room was fine for 1 night after a long flight. We had one of the rooms at the back by the main road so was quite noisy. Breakfast was great on the terrace with a choice from the menu.
