A guide in La Fortuna recommended this place since we mentioned we were planning to drive down this way to Puerto Viejo. And I'm so glad we contacted Maria to make sure we could visit for lunch!
The food was so delicious and I loved seeing all the colorful birds as we ate. We also received our own personal tour with Maria to learn about how they harvest the heart of palm and other plants they have on the property. My Spanish comprehension is ... not the best (working on it), but I was able to understand most of what she told us and was able to translate the key pieces to my husband.
Highly recommend reaching out to Maria if you want to stop by for lunch (and are not part of a tour group).

Sometimes you go to a place and you have no idea what to expect. This is that place. It is a casual but very elegant, beautiful and peaceful location near Sarapiqui, Costa Rica, where the food is based on hearts of palm. Not sure I have ever tasted it before, but once you taste these dishes, you will definitely want to eat it again. The meal starts with a fresh fruit drink, then there was hearts of palm ceviche served with patacones, which are smashed fried plantains with beans, a delicious and unexpected hearts of palm lasagna served with a perfect salad and lovely lightly sautéed vegetables, followed by 2 desserts made from hearts of palm (sort of a banana bread and a pancake) and some fresh fruit, but we were too full to eat them. It was not vey crowded the day we were there, but it seems like you should make a reservation. because I can see how this would be a popular, unique spot.

The "Iron woman" owner is incredible! After her divorce she had created a thriving business..including heart of palm plantation, tours and a restaurant serving a three course meal with dishes made from Heart of palm. Super

Nice informative tour and excellent lunch with all kind of dishes based on palmito. The guide was very friendly, although our Spanish is very limited.

Excellent food and service

Un lugar muy agradable con un clima muy húmedo y caliente característico de la zona, nos ofrecieron una entrada de ceviche de palmito seguido del plato especial del lugar, lasagna de palmito. Todo muy rico y de buen gusto visual.

Nous avons été accueillis par Dona Maria qui nous a fait découvrir sa plantation, a coupé elle meme un palmier pour nous faire goûter le cœur. Ensuite dégustation du cœur de palmier sous différentes formes dont un ceviché delicieux. Belle expérience que nous recommandons.

Une belle découverte Maria prend le temps de bien nous expliquer comment se cultive et se récolte le cœur de palmier. Et la visite se termine par un repas à base de... cœur de palmier.

La culture de coeur de palmiers est super intéressante démontré par Maria et la cuisine est tout simplement délicieuse!!!!

Maria est adorable. Elle vous partage son savoir et sa passion pour sa plantation qu elle a créé. La cuisine est un vrai régal. On a adoré!
