Costa Rica Best Chocolate

This was the *best* experience we had in Costa Rica! Heinrich, our guide, knows so much about nature and has a beautiful attitude towards maintaining and respecting mother nature. We learnt how to make chocolate and ate plentiful of yummy, hand-made, utterly fresh chocolate. 110% recommended!!
And as an add on we saw money's, toucans, frogs and iguanas!

Amazing! So interesting to learn that we don’t eat chocolate when we eat it en Switzerland, Belgian, US or others places far away from here ! These people do a real great job with the plantation, the conservation of the nature and with the local people ! Please STOP here and have FUN !

It really was the best chocolate experience! We learned every step of the chocolate process, and ate so much chocolate I got a stomach ache. We did 2 chocolate tours while in Costa Rica and this one was by far the best.

Very interesting and enlightening tour! I was the only visitor due to low season, and the tour operators offered me basically an individual tour for a small extra fee. My guide was very knowledgeable and articulate person, he explained in great detail the history of cacao/chocolate production, current status, problems associated with it, such as that nasty Monilia fungus, showed me different varieties of cocoa trees and fruits growing right there, then brought me to a little chocolate workshop hidden in the fores, where he and a lady assistant showed me the whole 5-stage process of producing the real home-made chocolate. They also offered me to taste all the intermediate products starting from raw seeds, to demonstrate how the great taste of real chocolate progresses along the way. I filmed everything with a GoPro camera and showed the footage to my family in the U.S. Nedless to say, my whole family was very impressed by the stunning revelations I received during the tour. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in cacao, chocolate, nature, etc.

This was a fantastic experience. Our family loved this tour! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and fun. We learned so much about the chocolate making process, history, and culture. We enjoyed every minute of the presentation. The chocolate is delicious, and we left with full bellies. Highly recommend this experience!!

This was a fantastic presentation about chocolate and the process involved to make it. Such a knowledgeable talk and passion for the environment. I would highly recommend visiting, it lasted 2 hours and the owner was very engaging and interesting to listen to. Of course the chocolate was amazing! Definitely worth going to.

We arrived spontaneously on our way to La Fortuna and the tour was definately worth the wait! The guide was very knowledgeable ans the tour was very interactive and a lot of fun.

I had a WONDERFUL time on the chocolate tour here. It really is the best in Costa Rica. We took part in the entire process from learning about the pollination of plant to putting the processed cocao into molds to form chocolate. We chewed the cocao beans, we drank the chocolate, and we ate the chocolate -- chocolate chocolate chocolate!! The organization has a really great mission too and supports local families for their hard labor in producing the precious delicacy. I walked away with an admiration for each future chocolate bar I eat.

We strongly appreciated this family business and their tour. We learned a lot about chocolate and how to do it. You can taste a lot of chocolate and cacao products and even participate ! I can say they are truly kindhearted peoples and made our day better !

It'is not just a visit but a Wonderful experience. We had such a great time listening at all the interesting details explained by Sol and her volunteer colleague. They have put in place a very ecological process to make their chocolate. The cacao exploitation you are visiting is not even use for cacao production but only for the local ecosystem. They are very carefull with the environment.
You will make your own chocolate from the chocolate seeds through means invented by Sol. And in the process you will know all about cacao history and how the ancestors discovered and exploited cacao.

Amazing tour, 100% worth it if you are in the area or travelling nearby. The knowledge and hospitality of the guide was incredible and the chocolate better than anywhere in the world!!

Tour started with a short nature walk, my kids loved finding the snake, poison dart frogs, and monkeys.

For the chocolate, we got to taste every step of the process, some tasty but a bit gross, others delicious. At the end, we got to taste the best hot cocoa I have ever had.

They should sell their cocoa in the gift shop...

We came for the chocolate tour today with my family. We were absolutely amazed by how nice the guides were. It was an amazing experience that we recommend for anyone that comes by. We learned a great lot about the process of making chocolate but also about the respect and care provided to the environnement and the forest here.

The tour here is excellent. I was absolutely blown away by how much we got to learn. The guide brought us from the fruit to the chocolate, taking time to appreciate (and taste) every step of the way. At the end of the tour the guide was an advocate for the environment and ecosystems of Costa Rica. I would 100% recommend this for anyone.

This was a really good tour! The guy and his family are very much involved and transmit there passion and knowledge. We did it with a three years old kid and she liked very much the chocolate tasting and it wasn't to long. I recommend this tour among others
