The people who run this nautical themed restaurant are awesome. True to life hard core surfers who have made service their life are super welcoming. The food is great and the atmosphere is, well, one of the most amazingly beautiful beaches in the world.
They live above the boat shaped restaurant thus the name El Barco, so when you visit them they are literally inviting you into their home and sharing with you everything they love about this area of Costa Rica.
Nadia runs a fresh kitchen with impeccable service.
Carston is a mixologist who creates incredible cocktails, knows wine and has many stories of surfing and his days as a top motorcycle mechanic.

Great food, Ceviche was great, the tacos looks amazing! The vibe and view was amazing great little spot off the beaten path. Very chill! Would highly recommend a stop!

El Barco is a hidden gem! The food is fresh and delicious, and the owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the ocean and beach, and the garden is a lovely bonus. Vegetarian options are abundant, making it an excellent choice for all dietary preferences. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of food available so close to the beach. I highly recommend a visit to El Barco, you won't regret it! PS. It was so good that we decided to go for dinner after so good lunch.

We had an absolutely wonderful dinner at El Barco. The ambience and hospitality was exactly what we needed after a long travel day. This is a pretty remote area in Costa Rica but the owners and chef clearly know what they're doing as everything we had was delicious. The whole fish was a highlight and the ceviche was so good we got a second order. We can't wait to go back when in the area again.

We loved our experience so much we came back the next day for more! The seared tuna was perfection…the drinks, the tacos, everything. Sad we only had time to go twice, but already starting to talk about including it on our next trip! Stop by and see Carsten and Nadia, you can thank me later! They are the nicest couple, and we feel like family after our visits!

The restaurant is right on the beach. The new owners are so nice and welcoming and the food and drinks are delicious. Adding to that, the place is on the beach with a fantastic view ! Pure paradise.
I recommend the fish tacos and the coconut cake.

My wife and I stayed in the Playa Coyote area for a little over a week and found ourselves consistently returning to El Barco throughout our stay. The food, service and the atmosphere were spot on and really loved the opportunity to chat with the kind and warm owners! Hope to return :).

Good food in a absolutely wonderful spot with very nice hosts - a great place to eat or enjoy drinks (I especially recommend going there for sundown, the view is magical and you can also take your drinks to the beach and afterwards have dinner in the restaurant). Total recommendation!

A fantastic spot to eat, have a drink, and relax. The menu has a nice variety of choices! It was a quick walk on the beach from where we were staying. The owners are very welcoming, and we loved chatting with them. We were a group of 9 (children and adults), and we all absolutely loved our experiences (the food, the drinks, and the atmosphere)! You are practically on the beach and surrounded by nature!! Definitely a spot to stop by!

Lovely local restaurant and bar next to the beach. We had the fish and rice, shrimp and rice, and ceviche — everything tasted fresh and delicious. I’d go here everyday if I lived here.

We stopped here for lunch on a day trip from Playa Samara. Great location, excellent food and the owner was very nice. It's right on the beach which is perfect after spending time lazing in the sun. We highly recommend stopping here.

Great meal in a quiet spot. Not a lot else around here, but beautiful beachside patio for a snack or midday meal.
