Burbi Lake Lodge

The most beautiful location, with modern, comfortable rooms. The breakfast is outstanding and the common area sits above the lake giving you a beautiful view. There’s a trail that wraps around the lake for the perfect morning nature walk. The staff here goes above and beyond to ensure that your stay is outstanding. They help set up activities and offer honest recommendations. Because of the secluded location, I recommend having a rental car, but if you don’t, the staff is happy to help you with taxi accommodations.

We absolutely loved this place! The surroundings are beautiful and make you feel relaxed and at peace. The room was very clean and with nice views to the lake, and the beds were large and comfortable. It can be a bit chilly at night, but there were blankets and a heater in the room.

The staff were incredibly helpful and kind, and they were one of the main reasons our stay was just perfect. The breakfast was delicious (we loved the Burbi eggs), and although they don’t serve lunch or dinner, they were so helpful to help us order food to eat in the common room. They also had coffee, tea, and other drinks, as well as delicious snacks all day long (they even gave us the recipe for their amazing banana bread).

We especially want to thank Carlos and Emel, two wonderful people who helped us organize our trips in Monteverde, including transport (we didn’t have a car, but this was not a problem at all). They created such a friendly and fun atmosphere that really made us feel welcome and at home. We will surely come back!

The hotel is located on the cloud forest, it is recommended to arrive in a 4*4 car. (Generally in Costa Rica is recommended to get around in a 4*4 car).
The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are very clean and amazingly designed. The breakfast is simply excellent! The best we ate in Costa Rica. Ernesto and all the reception and hotel staff were very kind and helpful. Ernesto in particular was very nice and helpful! Helped us with every question and recommended places to eat and where to do the attractions and also helped us close the attractions. Everything was simply perfect! Thank for everything ❤🙏🏼

This place is an absolute gem! The peace that surrounds this lodge is next level. My husband and I could’ve stayed longer and were sad to leave when we visited in March. The breakfast is delicious. The grounds are so well-maintained. The rooms are cozy with beautiful touches in design. There are restaurants reasonably nearby. We had a wonderful experience overall!

While the road to the lodge was full of potholes and you really have to drive carefully (something that would be recommended regardless of the road conditions) the lodge itself is amazing.

The rooms are spacious and views from them to the lake inject even the busiest minds with calm and relaxing vibes. There is a lot of wildlife around and we spotted a few beautiful birds during our stay.

As we had visited the cloud forest just before arriving at the lodge and it was raining, the shower was so much appreciated! It had hot water!! (Yes, hot. Not warm or lukewarm like in most other accommodation in Costa Rica)

The fact that the common area has coffee and tea (and cake!) available 24/7 is such a lovely touch. Breakfast and the ladies serving it deserve ✨ - getting your breakfast prepared for you while you wait is something even most 5* hotels don't offer.

The only negative was that we only stayed for one night... Guess we will need to go back to fix that mistake.

Very nice hotel, quite and relaxed. Very new and in good condition. Cons: WiFi in our room very weak/ not available( but hey who cares about WiFi) hot water on first night almost ran out, road to get there is tough terrain but also part of the fun, the building is noisy; you can hear your upper neighbours walking around.
Staff is very nice and I loved to feed the ducks and fish. I liked that is 15 minutes from the village, so it was quite.

Selected Burbi based on the reviews and was NOT disappointed. The location is quiet and beautiful. Quite a bit out of the ways from downtown Santa Elena but getting transportation is so seamless with the help of Ernesto and Juan. The road is very, very, very rough — but the remoteness of the location added to the beauty. 10/10 customer service. Also the breakfast does not disappoint!

Expect to spend approx. 8-12 colones one-way to get from the hotel to downtown. The drive is approx. 15 mins. Can contact taxis via WhatsApp

Nice little hotel. Simple. Clean. Very friendly staff.

Pros - The staff, the staff and again the staff!! Emel, who runs all the busines there is amazing! The most helpful and welcoming hotel member we encountered with during our all one month trip in Costa Rica!

Cons - The bedding was not that comfortable, they were very clean but not soft. The water stream in the shower was too weak. The breakfast could be a slightly richer (more vegetables/fruits/pastries etc.)

Stayed one night in town and needed some zen. This is the place! Worth the drive if you want to get away from it all. Beautiful location in an amazing cloud forest! Hiked around the area and saw toucans and many other birds. After this stay we were ready for the hustle and bustle of La Fortuna the next day.

Amazing place in the middle of pure and rich full nature, just conviniently away of the busy Monteverde's downtown.
Staff gives the extra mile to make sure you feel comfortable and enjoying the local attractions. Amazing place which I'm planning to continue visiting.

It’s a perfect place if you are looking for somewhere quite ,close-to nature,listen to bird signings and play with kittens and ducks!!
There are 3 cute kittens, button, Switch and club foot.

Excellent customer service at all times even when we were Downtown Monteverde they helped us find very good deals for tours and restaurants depending on what we were looking for. Lexo and Stewart from front desk and Oscar from Management were really friendly at all times, we talked a lot about Monteverde’s history and about the hotel.
Their concept of the hotel goes way far from the usual hotel mentality. They really help each other with little entrepreneurs around the hotel.
Regarding COVID protocols they really take care of their customers and themselves.

Even though the rooms didn’t have Wi-Fi or TV it is great to spend time together with family and enjoy the nature around the hotel.

I congratulate the hotel for a great and unforgettable experience. I recommend them a 100%.

My husband and I had a perfect stay at Burbi Lake Lodge. We only had two nights but will definitely be back due to the experience. The location is excellent. It is a short 15-20 minute drive to town. The town is nice to visit but the Monteverde cloud forest experience deserves this remote and beautiful location. The grounds are gorgeous; we saw unique birds and butterflies that we saw nowhere else during our hikes in the reserves. There is a great trail with a view of Volcan Arenal at the top. The rooms are impeccably clean and everything is brand new. There is a safe and a hair dryer. Our room had a balcony with an incredible view of the lake and surroundings. There is a delicious cook-to-order breakfast each morning that is included with your stay and a common area for your group to gather. The service was exceptional, every single person of the staff. They personalize your experience and you feel like family when you leave. Emil was a pleasure to meet and was extremely knowledgable about the area's history, wildlife, and plants. He gave recommendations and made reservations for us, which made our adventures an ease upon arrival at the locations. Stay here, you won't regret it. 10/10 recommend!

This place is great and very away out from Santa Elena, the room incredibly equipment with whatever you need and super clean, incredibly lake view, we definitely come back!!

Amazing hospitality from host

Far from the madding crowds of Monteverde tourists. This little gem of a retreat is slightly off the beaten track. Recently opened, it still has the gloss of being brand new. Friendly and helpful staff. Includes breakfast. Loved our stay.
