Restaurante El Jorón

Food was delicious, staff was very friendly and accommodating for English speaking customers. If you’re in the area and hungry then stop in for a nice meal!

On this trip to Puntarenas we picked Restaurante y Marisquería El Joron (strategically situated across the street from Paseo de los Turistas and the Beach )for lunch after reading some reviews( thanks to the community )and also my uncle’s recommendation. We ordered the Patacones con Frijoles as appetizer, patacones were crispy and delicious, as main course we had the Arroz con Camarones which was seasoned to perfection balancing the seafood flavors, the Breaded Chicken was tender and juicy on the inside, delicious too, the Breaded Shrimp was tasteful as well. Overall we all agreed that the food was good quality and also the waiter was friendly and helpful.

What a pleasant surprise El Jorón was! The food was good, the beer extra cold and the prices very reasonable. What set my experience apart was the service.

This felt like a rare instance of actually experiencing a day in the life of a Costa Rican. Relaxed meal with a view of families across the street spending a day at the beach, some soccer on TV, and no entitled overweight pasty people (I am two of three).

My Spanish is not great, but I feel it is important to try (when in Rome). This was the only place during the entirety of my trip where the server took the time and patience to gently correct me, but did not switch to English. During our travels of Costa Rica I struggle to remember being the only non local in a restaurant.

If you are close, please stop by. Relax, enjoy it!

Fantastic place to sit eat and relax. The atmosphere is very chill with music playing. Food was great nice presentation and tasted great. The service was super excellent

Very good service and excellent food..very fresh fish of course. As are most people, we were reluctant to visit a restaurant during this pandemic, but everything was distanced and careful, lots of fresh air, and we felt very safe from exposure...Great Margarita, also!!!! (Wine a bit pricey)

If you are looking for good seafood that's the place. The food and drinks were amazing. The staff very friendly, always there for us without being too much, and communicating very well in English. We had great time.

We started with ceviche mixto and it was delicious!! Then shared the mariscada and it was fabulous!!! The octopus was so tender. The conch was so good and the calamari was some of the best I’ve had!! A great find!!.
