Restaurante Monteverde

I've driven by this place many times on my way to San Jose but always stopped for lunch at a different restaurant farther down the road... Big Mistake! 🤭

This place is a quality gem!

Excellent service, delicious food - my corvina a la plancha was perfectly prepared - and a lovely garden setting (even though it's alongside the carretera). They even have a nice playground for children!

I have found nothing better on the road ahead, so I don't think I'll bother stopping anywhere else ever again.

Such a perfect place to stop! Food is amazing, milkshakes are even better. And there is a playground for kids to burn off some energy before you keep driving!

Nice place to eat and feel comfortable,price are good,very family-friendly place , all around GREAT.

We really liked the food. And there English was very good. Great place to stop for lunch, dinner, or just a snack!

You have to try their milkshakes!! The NEW chicken hamburger it's delicious!! Pizzas and meat platea are also very good!

As a local. This is THEE best restaurant in the area. If you are looking for true Costa Rican dishes, this is the spot, no question about it. A little background story about the restaurant. "Monteverde" is not only a beautiful town in Costa Rica in the Puntarenas province, but it's also one of the biggest dairy producers in Costa Rica, you can find their products in almost all grocery stores in CR. That being said, any dish with any dairy product is AMAZING and when done with lunch, you can go to the ice cream shop next door, their homemade ice creams are incredible.

Ice cream is really good, especially chocolate chips and macadamia.

This is a great restaurant! The food selection was great, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the ambiance was nice. They have large animal and dinosaur statues that the kids love. To top it all off - they make their own dairy products and sausage! And an ice cream shop! Five stars!!!!!

Delicious place to eat!

Stopped here on our way to Tamarindo, food was delicious and tasted fresh. I had the chicken with rice and beans and also a coffee. Everything hit the spot. If you’re looking for a good place to stop with the family there is a small playground and some dinosaur statues for the kids. Overall great atmosphere.

Very nice. Good portions with great flavour. The dinosaurs outside are s great plus for kids. They follow really well bio-security protocols

Easy on and off the highway for travelers, with good food choices, ice cream, clean bathrooms and an awesome place to stretch your legs on the lovely trails behind the big dinosaur. It's a very pleasant surprise, you'll be glad you stopped!!

The food here is awesome and the young man server was very polite and attentive. Beautiful relaxing place to stop and have breakfast. We will definitely stop here in the future if we go thru there again.

As with many local ice cream places they serve ice cream from the Monteverde Dairy right up the road, and all their flavors are lovely. Costa Rica in general, and these small restaurantes in particular are very welcoming and hospitable. Even if they do not speak perfect English, they will figure out what you need and help you get it.

Restaurante Monteverde is more then a restaurant. It has a Monteverde Ice Cream parlor, restaurant and a surrounding park with large scale dinosaurs. It would be a great place for a family visit or travel break. Clean bathrooms and eating area hold up to the Monteverde reputation. My only negative is that the ice cream parlor staff was not very friendly, but it could have been just the day. Don't let that stop you from visiting. Its a regular stop for my student groups.

They are following sanitary measures required and from September 4th they will offer pizza pick up, you just need to order 30 minutes in advance.

Always a great place to eat. Food is amazing even a simple salad here is delicious. Fast and great service.

Stopped for coffee. A little slow, Costa Rican time. But good friendly service and clean bathrooms. Also has ice cream with local flavors a plus !!!!
