EL SOL MONTEVERDE

Had an absolutely incredible stay at El Sol. Only spent one night but it was definitely a magical experience. The location is great, very private and the views are stunning. The infinity pool was lovely and Suzanne made us a delicious breakfast in the morning which she delivered to our villa. Would recommend to anyone.

Unique. Amazing, beautiful, natural, cozy, and above else embodies Costa Rica’s Monteverde region perfectly! We loved all the special touches to the room-hammocks, swimming pool, kitchenette if needed but they have a lovely chef! Breakfast was fresh and full of nutrients- fresh fruit, yogurt, local herbs and honey from there gardens. We had a special time and can’t wait to return.

This is one of the most unique stays we had in over 12 years of travelling. Everything here is excellent. We stayed 3 nights and wished we had booked a week. Prices are higher than average but worth every dollar. The food they serve at your house is just delicious. Prepared with fresh ingredients and love. We stayed at the 'Chalet in the sun'... Breathtaking... Comfortable beds, an amazing shower and stunning views. This is the wooden house everybody would like to have to live in. If you are in Costa Rica, stay here, no matter how long the detour. It is worth it! 6 star rating!

We absolutely loved this hotel - it was our favourite out of all the places we stayed in Costa Rica. The rooms are quirky and individual and each has a little kitchen, the views are stunning and the hotel isn't called El Sol for nothing - even when the sun isn't shining anywhere else in the area it shines here. We had breakfast and dinner and it was the most delicious food we ate during our entire trip - freshly made and delicious. This really is a magical place that quite stole our hearts.

Waking up to the view from El Sol was the highlight of my trip! This place was stunning and the perfect location. Susanne was wonderful and helped book activities for us, she gave us great insight into which places would better suit us. The breakfast here was one of the best meals I had all trip. The dinner was fantastic as well. I absolutely would return to monteverde just to stay at this place!

This is a tiny piece of heaven in the clouds of Monteverde. Susanne was an amazing host, full of great suggestions for the locale and very communicative up to and throughout our stay. The cabins are nicely spread out and extremely private, they have all you need from coffee, utensils, small over and hob - but make sure to try the amazing cooking onsite and which is delivered to your cabin. The filet mignon is phenomenal! This place is truly special and the pool is great with amazing views of the valley.

El Sol is a beautiful lodge in the Monteverde mountains. It is a haven of tranquility and relaxation, a stone's throw away from the bustling Santa Elena. The attention to detail of the owners shines through everywhere, from the rooms to the pool and wood-fired sauna. Susanna was so friendly, kind and helpful in recommending activities and booking them for us. We'll highly recommend El Sol to all our friends travelling to Costa Rica!

Javier and Dema are the most wonderful hosts one could ever ask for! We had an amazing time staying in two different cabins on the El Sol property, lounging in the pool and hammocks, and enjoying the gardens. I can't speak highly enough about the experience. The views are spectacular one night we watched the most beautiful sunset, while another we were completely inside the clouds! The beds were super comfortable, the amenities were all there wether you brought food or ate on site. We had lunch our first day from the El Sol kitchen, and the food was so fabulous we ate throught the entire menu over the next few days! It was the best food we had in Monteverde! The energy on the property is so positive being there was good for the soul. Javier knows everything about Monteverde (and probably knows everyone too!) He spent years as a guide and couldn't have made better recommendations for what to do in the area. It was delightful to be in this family run, Tico owned sanctuary for the days we were there so if you are reading this and debating where to stay, book now!!!

We escaped the cloud forest and dried out under the sun at El Sol❤. This place is magical and embodies the soul of Costa Rica! We enjoyed the birds singing, the stunning views, a dip in the pool after the sauna, and the delicious breakfast. Get lost in the amazing art and appreciate the hard work and details that the owners added to this quaint hidden gem. Javier and his team were beyond hospitable and made us feel as though we were staying with friends.

We started our trip with Makanda By the Sea and the Springs resort at Arenal, I’d say that the experience is the same class, and the folks at el sol Monteverde are more genuine and friendly. We also had the best breakfast here during our Costa Rica trip. The room is cozy with modern accommodations including a small kitchen and fridge and hot water showers. Our room has a beautiful wooden window with the Canyon view. You will find a lot of nature peace and space here. Overall we highly recommend this cute place. Oh I forgot to mention that they have a super cute Australian Shepherd-Oreo there!

If you are looking for peace and quiet and the best view in Monteverde. Very well organized cabins, private and secluded, in beautiful garden with pool and sauna. Delicious breakfast options brought to your cabin and the friendliest owners.

There is something indescribable about how calm, peaceful and beautiful El Sol is. From the beautiful rooms, to the abundant wildlife, beautiful sunsets and delicious homemade food, El Sol has everything you would want for your stay in Monteverde. We cannot thank Susanne enough for being so warm and welcoming and going above and beyond. It is a truly amazing place and we will always remember our time there and wish we could have stayed longer.

Absolutely amazing. The host was exceptional and friendly. Very informative and responsive. The view from the cabin was breathtakingly beautiful. The landscape is beautiful. If being outside of the hustle and bustle and enjoying nature is what you desire, this place is for you. Close enough to downtown, only a 10 minute drive. Would stay here again :)

Very very (very) beautiful cabana with great rustic/artistic design. Unbelieveable view from the top of a ridge. The sunsets and stars will win you over by themselves. Don't forget to have the sauna prepared to add a perfect touch to your evening. You won't want to leave the grounds, so do yourself a favor and add an extra night to your booking.

Don't know what to do in Monteverde? Javier and Susanne have the best recommendations. We had a great time getting to know Javier and cannot wait to return to El Sol.

El Sol is a really magical place where the cabins - and the pool - have been designed and built with great care and creativity. The views from the pool are jaw-dropping. We stayed three nights in the big yellow cabin - the photos do not do it justice - and wished it had been longer.

This place is the love from the first sight. We will definitely come back!
Suzan is a very pleasant host, she told us about activities that we could do in the area. Unfortunately, we didn’t stay long enough at this place 😞
I highly recommend the dinner and breakfast option that is offered by the hotel. The food was homemade and veryyy delicious!
The room was clean. The gecko in the room did its job eating bugs (we didn’t have any!) and the view is breathtaking!

This might be one of the most beautiful places on planet earth period the property is filled with healing energy and you can just feel it the moment you step onto the property period and make sure mind body and soul feel complete and that peace period owned by wonderful people and operated by amazing people as well this place is a place not to miss
