Hotel Claro de Luna

Don't be put off by the 3 stars, this hotel is such a hidden treasure! If you want to be fully immersed in the beautiful nature of Costa Rica but also avoiding busy touristy areas this is the place to be. Friendly and attentive hotel staff, and delicious traditional Costa Rican breakfast. 10/10 would definitely come back here.

Fabulous hotel that far exceeded our expectations. We couldn't believe this was only a 2-star hotel. Site is really quiet and full of wildlife. We saw 3-sloths over the course of our 2-night stay and many different types of birds & butterflies. There is free parking on-site and our room was large, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was lovely and all staff were friendly and helpful. It's just a short walk into the town for access to restaurants. Torch is helpful if returning after dark. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

This a beautiful hotel . Property is surrounded by gardens. Fresh breakfast daily. Easy walk to the town to pick up meals. Beautiful rooms with two large rockers on a porch area

We rented the house on the property through Airbnb and had a really good time. The location is up and around a steep hill (if traveling with heavy bags, this can be a feat) but the walk is worth it. The views at the hotel are nice and the garden with all the flora is captivating. The staff is AMAZING! The ladies at the front desk are helpful and super kind to help. They are knowledgeable of the area and tours nearby. The house was well taken care of and clean. Definitely would stay here over and over again.

We stayed here for a night last Christmas. This place has serious value for what you pay, and it is cozy and tranquil and beautiful. The property has character. Breakfast was also very nice. I would recommend this place to others that are staying in the area.

This place is magical - Erica, the owner w/ her husband John - is a lovely person, and the hotel is gorgeous as well. I saw more beautiful flowers here than in the rest of my week in CR - the grounds are stunning. The room, with its' 2 queen sized 4-poster canopy beds, and big bathroom [party shower!] was airy and clean. Each room has it's own outside patio, which is a nice touch - a good place to watch the afternoon rain! The breakfast room is also big and airy, and Erica - who is very fluent in English - cooks your eggs to order. We stayed an extra day in Monte Verde, in large part because this hotel was so beautiful and restful.

Absolutely lovely place! Rooms and grounds were gorgeous. The breakfast was delicious. The owner was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I don't have anything but good things to say about our stay here!

One of the nicest hotels in Monteverde. The staff is absolutely amazing, friendly, courteous and go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying your stay. The rooms are spacious and cozy. Something I like a lot is that there are no TVs in the rooms. Do yourself a favor and visit this hotel.

Beautiful location on a hill overlooking town. The grounds are a welcome relief from the dusty streets- lush gardens with a path connecting the buildings housing the reception, rooms, and kitchen/cafeteria. Lots of flowers, lots of birds. Some rooms have a hot-tub style bath, some have a TV, some have a porch with rocking chairs, and some have a combination of these. None of the rooms for our group have AC, but if you open the windows at night and there's plenty of cool air coming off the mountains. Take a left down the street for easy access to town center and grocery store.

Beautiful quaint hotel tucked away in lush gardens conveniently located near town. Room was gorgeous, and the spa tub was MASSIVE (my 6'8" partner fit). The staff was incredibly accommodating, and didn't even mention when we returned our room key late from a tour after check out time.

Wonderful wooden house with big windows, nice rooms. English speaking, friendly and helpful employees. Nice breakfast with pancakes, fresh fruit and eggs (only local products). Only problem is that the walls are really thin so you may hear others in the house.

Beautiful hotel in Santa Elena perfectly located to visit the park of Monteverde.
The bedrooms were very spacious with working hot water and WiFi.
The staff was very friendly as well and helped us to organize our transfers, visits and laundry.

The breakfast was very good as well.

I was at first hesitant about this place because it was so affordable. It was beautiful and in the heart of the city. We walked to the restaurants and grocery store multiple times a day. We were able to take the tour buses to the zip line tours. The morning breakfast was best we'd had in Costa Rica. They had a table set out just for our family and it felt more like a bed and breakfast in my opinion. There is a side garden and the hostess went out of her way to answer all of our questions. When we asked for a place to launder our family's clothes they have a huge bag and washed and dried AND folded them for us for $20. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Great place to stay while out to check out the cloud forest. Close to town, food, shopping, bank, etc. Rural like setting. Lovely grounds and great room. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Went for a short walk at night and some insects and spiders 😊

they have a beautiful garden where we spotted hummingbirds and even a tucan. the breakfast buffet was very nice with fresh regional products (loved the fruits!). The room was spacious and very comfortable and the staff was friendly and gave good inputs, which "tourist offers" are worth the money. I absolutely recommend Claro de Luca, if you like to visit the Monteverde Area.

Nice and quiet property located only five minutes walking distance from Santa Elena (the hub at the center of Monteverde). Free breakfast buffet everyday is a huge plus as well as how helpful the staff are here in recommending activities for us. They will go the extra mile and help plan your trip in Monteverde for you if needed, calling transportation and finding activities. A taxi to Monteverde cloud reserve is $12 total one way.

Rooms are comfortable albeit quiet small, with a desk, one chair, a bed, but not much walking space remaining. No air conditioning or temperature control/fan either, and no closet. Office has safes for you to use but it won't be in the room. However, bathroom was spacious and hot water was very comfortable (takes about a minute to heat up). The property is beautiful with lots of plants and flowers!

Erika is very kind. This is a great B&B. Do not miss out. The love is here. Beautiful garden area, breakfast is also very fresh and delicious.

Affordable place. The breakfast was delicious and kept me full till lunch. The location is close to town but a little away so it feels like you are in the cloud forest but still close to everything. Wifi worked well. Able to download video and there was hot water. No AC but you don't need it in Monteverde. Great place!
