Hotel Fondavela

This is an amazing place to stay. The rooms are spacious and peaceful. The beds are like sleeping in clouds, the most comfortable bed by far of any other hotels. You wake up listening to the birds of surrounding forest.
Staff in the bar and at breakfast are friendly and helpful. You can't fault their service here. Reception staff are lovely and helpful, just one person let down the reception team. The food is really good and the breakfast too 😋.

This is a magical place. The rooms are gorgeous and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is a true gem. The food was delicious. They masterfully prepared many items that weren’t even on the menu.

My 12 year old would like to add that the grounds were really beautiful and special and the pool (which was closed for cleaning while we were there) looks really fun. Like you’d be swimming in the forest

Fantastic service, comfortable rooms, and beautiful grounds.
Our stay was very peaceful and it was easy to get a short taxi ride to the shops and restaurants in town, which we also really enjoyed. The front desk service and restaurant service were phenomenal. The front desk gave us a map of Monteverde and a full list of daily times for nearby activities. This made scheduling and transportation of the activities we wanted super easy! And the hotel will make the reservations for you.
We did not always get a working WiFi connection in the room but it worked fine in the lobby and was well worth it for us to have such a beautiful outdoor environment all around us. I would definitely recommend staying here for anyone who wants a perfect mix of nature/authenticity and comfort.

The road is rough after leaving Santa Elena but if you've ever driven on a dirt road you'll be fine.

There is no 'town' of Monte Verde you're just staying closer to the park.

Fondavela is spectacular. Well placed to enjoy sunsets. Inside the cloud of the cloud forest.

My wife and I were in a renovated room that was extremely comfortable. The bed, the shower, the view were all great. The coffee is the room was delicious.

We arrived from Dominical around sunset and I didn't want to drive anymore. We ate at the restaurant and the food was awesome. Beautiful presentation and super flavourful. The coffee ice cream is the perfect ending to your meal. We ate there 2 of our 3 nights.

Breakfast is included. Nothing fancy but a good base for your day of exploration. Freddy (I think his name was) was a great host at the restaurant and he introduced us to Matéo, the hotel monkey.

The front desk can help you with local attractions. They booked our ziplining.

I wouldn't hesitate to return here if we find ourselves in Monte Verde again.

Great hotel, ask for a fan if it is warm. Pool is heated and perfectly warm.

Great location if you don’t want to be right in the middle of the town. The staff is friendly and really helpful, they helped us reserve our zip line activities. The food was amazing, some of the best we had in Costa Rica. Would definitely recommend staying with them.

We thought the place was great. Really nice setting. Super close to the Cloud Forest Reserve. The Restaurant and Pool were very nice. Comfortable beds and warm showers. Our room was spacious with a view into the trees. We loved it.

The grounds were beautiful and the room had an amazing view. Reception was super helpful and made a couple reservations for us. The bed was probably the most comfortable we had our whole trip. The covered hot tub was a life saver after days of horseback riding and hiking. We got back late and they left the pool lights on for us about an hour after closing hours. The restaurant was pretty good for the free breakfast. You would probably do better elsewhere for dinner.

Excellent hotel with great location and superb amenities! We loved Fondavela, and stayed 2 nights while exploring the Monteverde area. The location is super close to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Preserve, while also being within a short drive to Santa Elena. The property has spacious rooms, walking trails, a spa, a pool and hot tubs, on site restaurant, and on site tavern. We tried out all these things and found them a to be great.

This hotel is very nice. Beds were very comfortable, rooms very large and pretty and the grounds beautiful. The food was delicious and staff some of the best I have seen. Very professional and helpful. I had a massage while here that was awesome!

This is hotel has an amazing location near the cloud forest. They are under a new management from a very reputable and great customer service oriented company so you can definitely expect amazing things in the near future. Beautiful wooden rooms and spacious with amazing views. Their service is great accommodating any request.

Just left there this morning. Great value with spacious rooms in perfect nature ambience. Big plus is the chef — every dish was amazing. Perfect location. Very COVID conscious to boot. We would stay again!

We really enjoyed our stay here. My husband said it was his favorite hotel he's stayed at in the last five years.
The only cons were:
1) The pool still being under renovation. I emailed them in August and they said it would be done by end of August, and we arrived in November and nowhere close to being done
2) They could use softer pillows and preferably some with feathers.

Other than that, everything was great. The room had a strong mountain vibe and a great view. We loved how quiet and not humid it was. They had a dehumidifier as well which was great. No AC but didn't need it.
Not in town but a short drive if you have a car. Super close drive to the parking lot for the cloud forest reserve. We wished we had stayed here three nights instead of two. Also wish breakfast was buffet instead of ordering from a menu. Staff at restaurant were fantastic but the restaurant was always almost empty.
They had the most delicious homemade pineapple tropical fruit jam for toast.
If you need laundry done, check out Sparkle Laundry close by. Did our laundry same day for around $25 USD.

Loved staying at this hotel near the Monteverde Cloud Forest Botanical Reserve. Nice amenities: restaurant, sports bar, pool and hot tubs, spa, and nature trail.

Fonda Vela is a nice hotel in the awesome mountains of Monteverde. Staff is very welcoming and there are a pool and not one but two jacuzzis! I recommend this place if you can afford it!

Not only is the hotel only 2 km from the Cloud Forest National Park, but the rooms are amazingly roomy and the service very friendly. The restaurant provides amazing food for reasonable prices.

Was fantastic, a place where you definitely have to come and experience.

If you are looking for adventure you are in the right place.

There's a pool where you have the possibility to change the temperature as needed.
