We were staying at the hotel on site, but had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant multiple times for lunch and dinner. Gustavo was manning the bar and table service, and his service and attentiveness was impeccable. He even kindly brought a pizza to our cabana next door at one point during our stay! The wine list is quite impressive, and there is a solidly established cocktail program with a wide variety of spirits. From the location on the top of the hill, the views from the restaurant are wonderful, and it's a great place to watch a sunset. Definitely some of the best food we had during our stay in monteverde.

We just had a late lunch/early dinner here and it was nothing short of amazing.

We had the pleasure of being looked after by Gustavo and instantly realized why almost every review we read mentioned how well he looks after you while dining here. Excellent service, extremely polite and professional and has fantastic recommendations for food as well as wine pairings.

We started with two orders of bruschetta paired with a beautiful cab franc suggested by Gustavo. I had the tuna steak with pesto linguine and my wife had pizza napoli and we enjoyed a couple of beers in ice cold glasses. Everything was perfect!

The view from the patio overlooking the mountain ranges and the Gulf of Nicoya is gorgeous, especially if you can catch it for sunset.

No, this is not the cheapest place to eat in town but you will have a hard time finding cuisine of this quality elsewhere. It is more on the fine dining side but still has a casual and relaxing atmosphere. I believe it is great value for your money, the same meal back home would cost me slightly more and would not be as good.

I was reluctant to try an Italian restaurant in the mountains of Costa Rica but it was phenomenal and I was pleasantly surprised.

Upon reading the reviews and seeing photos of the food we decided to go here. There is a ton of restaurants in the area but the many good reviews brought us here. We were greeted by Gustavo as all the reviews mentioned. His service was amazing, it was definitely one of the best service at a restaurant we had ever had. Like other reviews said, we ended up back here for a 2nd time. The food was so good both times. Gustavo was very knowledgeable about the wines and recommended a red wine that paired amazingly with the bruschetta, which we got both times. We even took some to go and reheated it the next day on a hot pan and it was still amazing, I couldn't believe it. This was our first trip to Costa Rica and will definitely not be our last. If we are anywhere near this restaurant we will absolutely be back.

Came per a recommendation and Wine and Grill well surpassed our expectations. The food was spectacular and so was the service. It’s a beautiful spot with sweeping views and great atmosphere. The cocktails are fantastic - fresa mojito was phenomenal. We had the bruschetta, steak, pasta, and tiramisu. Everything was very delicious and we even got limoncello with our dessert! Big shout out to Gustavo for being an excellent host! His service and hospitality took our experience to the next level. Highly recommend!!

Spent two days in Monteverde and visited Wine & Grill both nights because it was so great the first night. Both times we were greeted with amazing food and service from Gustavo. He went above and beyond, making us feel so welcome. Would 10/10 recommend to anyone in the area!

Very happy to find this amazing Italian restaurant. Kudos to Josue and Gustavo for providing a warm, welcoming and very appetizing experience. Stayed at El Tropico which is attached to the restaurant.

Recommend the linguine pulpo (ate that 3x), raviolis, tenderloin steak and cheese platter. They even made a special custom banana crepe at one time.

To top it off, it offers one of the best mountain range views in monteverde away from the noisy santa elena area.

Good food and even better people. Enjoy the killer view.

I’ve been here for lunch and it was a full success. The waiter was really caring, constantly filled up the water and was super helpful.
As for the food: we definitely needed to wait a while for the pizza, but it was definitely worth it. Everything was freshly prepared, delicious and good-looking.
While you can’t expect a real, authentic Italian Pizza, it was super close (only thing that wasn’t as usual: the dough had a dull and only partially crispy feeling to it, even though it was thin)
The salad has been great on taste and looks as well.
While the pricing was a bit higher as usual, it’s worth for what you get in return.
Definitely recommended.

Delicious food, great customer service. Gustavo helped us choose the perfect meal. I went for a tuna that was cooked exactly how I ordered and my mom had a delicious salmon.
The view is spectacular and the ambiance nice.

We enjoyed this restaurant so much, we changed our plans to go here for a second evening! The burrata cheese was the best we four had ever had. The wood fire pizza was so delicious and...so glad we couldn't resist the Panna cotta!

After reading all the reviews the hype is real. Your not there for the food you're there for Gustavo then food. Excellent from start to finish, didn't even look at the menu Gustavo picked everything and it was top tier 👌 If you're looking for 5 star service then 5 star food this is the place!

My favorite view after being in Costa Rica for 6 days. Arrive around 5-5:15pm to catch a beautiful view of the sunset with mountains and part of the Pacific Ocean. Awesome high-quality Italian food. Recommended by our guide. Staff was very nice and spoke English well. Note there are two locations of this restaurant and only the one at Hotel Tropico has this view.

This is really the only place you need to go. It was the first place we tried and then of course explored everything else in monte verde. This was the best, and we revisited here for our last two night in a row. Great food and the cocktails the best around. Nancy is great!

The food here is beyond words, I tried the home made pesto and was very impressed, the manager Gus was so friendly and even gave me suggestions on some great drinks to try, and I'm glad I trusted his suggestion! Definitely a great place for a nice dinner

We ate twice at this place while we were staying at the hotel. Pizzas and pastas are great! Steak was a little undercooked but it was pretty good overall. Try their cocktails!! They are 👌👌

Food was excellent! Best ever bruschetta appetizer. Waiter brought an Argentinian wine that paired perfectly. Tuna special was amazing. We just stopped in randomly for lunch on the way out of town and wish we found this gem sooner. Views were spectacular!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Costa Rica. We enjoyed amazing food and hospitality everywhere we went, but none like what we experienced at Wine & Grill in Monteverde. Food heaven!!! From the bruschetta appetizer to the tuna steak special to the panacotta dessert, every dish was a classic executed to perfection. And Gustavo's service is the cherry on top: he makes every guest feel special and duly pampered. Simply fabulous!

First thing first, the service was outstanding. Thank you Gustavo! We started off with the pecorino and shrimp ravioli- it was good. But the chef special which included duck, sirloin, tenderloin, and sausage grill mix was exquisite. Each meal perfectly paired with wine. I also needed my greens, which they prepared on demand which was beyond appreciated. We ended the meal with panna cotta, brownie, and tiramisu. I’m not a dessert person but we devoured all 3. Highly recommend

We loved this restaurant so much, we went twice during our 3 day stay in Monteverde. Gustavo was an amazing host both times and recommended wine pairings that matched wonderfully with our meals. I had the duck chef special the first time. Let me tell you, it should be illegal for a meal to be so delicious. The second night, I had the pesto and it was somehow just as delicious. We love to travel, and dine at restaurants all over. The amazing food, sunset view, and top tier service by Gustavo made this one of the best restaurants we have been to. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

This is THE place you want to come for a great authentic Italian dishes in Monteverde if you love fine dining without emptying your wallet 🥰 Plus it has an incredible view of the valley and sunset from your seat!

Wood fire oven guaranteed the perfect pizza, pulpo linguini is to die for, among all other dishes will sure to satisfy your sophisticated pallet.

Best place to eat in Monteverde! Come for the food, stay for Gustavo! Gustavo was our waiter-he was very personable and made it more of an experience. The food was AMAZING! My wife had the tenderloin with the wildberry sauce, and I had the spaghetti with seafood ( shrimp, octopus, mussels, clams and squid) Both dishes were really amazing. We got a complimentary wine that Gustavo said paired well with our appetizer, and it was really good together! The tiramisu was the best we have ever had! Great food and great service! Would highly recommend!
