Stayed here for 1 night, and was really happy! The rooms were big and nice, the breakfast was good, the pizza they made from their stone brick oven was great, and their own nature reserve was surprisingly good. There was really short distance between each sight, and that was a lot of fun. Not to mention the view from the garden, the sunset was spectacular from here.

We weren't staying here we just had a 10 minute walk from town to visit the nature reserve and we were so pleased we did. The trail led to various platforms with amazing views and hardly anyone around! There is also a hammock garden which is lovely and relaxing to lie in. Food in the restaurant at the end was also delicious. Great place to visit.

We stayed here as a family of four, in a single room. The room was comfortable and very practical, just what we needed. The hotel premises are well-organised with plenty of facilities, including a great bar and an excellent restaurant, with beautiful views. The estate itself was amazing: there are several cloud forest trails, various gardens, and different areas to enjoy (such as a hammock area and various lookout spots deeper into the forest). A lot of love, thought, and attention to detail has gone into the design of this place. Throughout, there is a special emphasis on sustainability and harmony with nature. We did a night tour and a permaculture tour (permaculture being their particular sustainability philosophy). In both cases our guided impressed us with how knowledgeable they were, as well as friendly, easy going, and accommodating: half jokingly, we said to the night tour person - Eduardo - how we would love to see a snake, and he persevered until he found us one (sleeping on a tree beach - no way on earth we would have spotted this ourselves!) The food at the restaurant was delicious and excellent value for money. Overall we greatly enjoyed our stay here, we highly recommend this place. We wish we had more days!

Absolutely stunning views, quaint, well maintained property with lots of extras from night tours to aerial yoga! The onsite restaurant has a healthy variety of dishes along with local brews! The front desk went above and beyond to assist with our day trip planning! Loved it!

Valle Escondido is a living example of ecologically harmonious land use in action. We were in awe of what was created with permaculture principles, thoughtfulness and hard work.
The farm tour is a must do to understand these principles in action. We enjoyed the nature preserve with its walking trails and overlooks. The restaurant with its bar and organic farm to table food was excellent. And to top it all off, everyone was helpful and friendly. Ahhh, and at the end of the day there is the lawn with chairs and family friendly outdoor games and a sunset view all of the way to the sea. It just doesn't get any better. Pura Vida at its best.

What a dreamy place! Valle exceeded our expectations. Food was fresh and delicious, sunset was unmatched, and the staff was friendly and inviting. Highly recommend a night animal tour. We can’t wait to be back!

We did not stay here; we simply went to the hotel for a meal. The food was delicious. The location is gorgeous.

Great place, location with great views from the grounds and the restaurant. Very nice grounds with many trails, hammocks and educational eco material. Room was good, and so was breakfast.

What an awesome experience to be able to stay in such a nice hotel right in the middle of a large nature reserve. We had a “garden junior suite” which was very nice. The view from the upper deck of the restaurant is simply amazing – you can see all the way out to the bay. The restaurant itself was very good – we ate there both nights we stayed. We did the night hike one night which I would recommend. We also took a whole morning to walk the 5km of trails around the property. We saw a group on howler monkeys down by the waterfall and some coatis in the hammock garden area. Drinking water here is amazing. I would definitely stay here again if we visited the area. Lots to do within a very short drive. My only complaint is they had one of those “open bathroom” plans where the shower is basically in the middle of the bathroom so the whole floor gets wet everytime you use it. Nice for showering but not as nice when you go back in later to brush your teeth. On a more positive note, I can’t say enough about how great the staff was. We arrived later than expected and had a night tour booked. They whisked us through the check in process in just a minute, let us put in an advance order to the restaurant for dinner (it closes at 8 pm, so right after the night tour ends at 7:30) and held up the start of the tour so we could throw our bags in the room. Very accommodating. I was surprised how cool it gets here at night but it is pretty refreshing after every where we went was so warm.

My favorite part of our Costa Rica trip! An absolutely magical property and welcoming staff. If you are interested in sustainable tourism or permaculture, this is for you! The lodge goes to great lengths to make their operations sustainable. The trails, views, wildlife, gardens, and hammock meadow made this place a restful retreat. If you are interested in sustainability or regenerative agriculture, I highly recommend the permaculture tour which you can book at the reception. It’s a tiny bit pricey but well worth it, and all profits go to fund permaculture education.

Room are okay, food is good, good view point, just the night tour is not recommended, not much to see at night there.

We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable- the kids had their own bunk beds which was nice. The rooms are very clean, the restaurant is great and breakfast was delicious. The grounds are beautiful, we enjoyed meeting other families and the kids played with other kids from around the world. This is very much living in nature- the rooms sometimes get occasional bugs and the shades are not black outs, so the room lights up early in the morning. One thing I would improve is that the beds are old and they make a lot of squeaking noises, we still loved it.

Had a great time staying at the hotel. Luckily our stay coincided with thankgiving so the hotel celebrated the event with a beautiful meal and entertainment. Great service from the team too.

Loved it. Amazing gardens, great food, lovely setting. It’s nice being just a little out of town, but within walking distance. Wildlife is great while eating breakfast or walking the trails around the hotel. Staff is very nice and helpful. Allowed me to borrow a yoga mat during our stay.

A wonderful & unique hotel! The hiking trails are a gem - well-maintained, amazing vistas, and a waterfall! Seriously, don't miss 'em. Breakfast was tasty, especially the juices. Lucette at the front desk was helpful in arranging laundry, a night tour, and a naturalist guide for Monteverde Cloud Forest. So cool to see their permaculture farming set-up too.

We had a fantastic stay here. Our 18 month old had the best time. This place is so family friendly. There is a large grassy area for kids to play. The trails are perfect for young and old, the views are amazing. The food was fresh and delicious. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Thank you!!! We can’t wait to come back.

Our room was very nice and clean. There is no AC but you are able to open the windows and it was always a good/cool temperature at night. AC is not needed. The breakfast that is included in the morning is also very good as well. The owner is very passionate about his place and you can tell when you speak to him. Very intelligent and informative. We paid extra for the permaculture tour and I highly recommend it. We toured Monteverde Cloud Forest, but honestly the trails at the hotel nature reserve are better in my opinion... and included with your stay. It has one of the MOST beautiful lookout points that you do not want to miss.

The only cons that I had:
There is a coffee pot in the room, but no coffee. So that was a little weird. Also, no bottles filled with water or a place to refill your bottles of water except for the sink.

There is a sign in the restaurant bathroom that says do not flush toilet paper, and to hold down the handle for 5 seconds for it to fully flush. Which is fine, except I didn't see that until the 3rd day, as the sign is not in the bathroom of the hotel room. It would help if the sign was also in the hotel rooms so that the guests were informed.

All in all I definitely recommend this stay.

Went on a nighttime walking tour. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to see the nocturnal wildlife, like tarantulas or frogs! The walk itself was easy, the tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable, and she spoke great English as well as Spanish for Spanish speakers in the group.

Did not stay in this hotel but did the night walk which included a day visit to the property. It is incredible! They have about 50 acres, multiple trails and overlooks, the hotel, kitchen, bar, "greenhouse", tilapia ponds, more gardens and a hammock garden. It is so self contained and environmentally aware.
We stayed for lunch as they have a wood burning pizza oven. Have to say may be the best vegetarian pizza I've had. Please visit here, you will be glad you did!
