Casa Batsú BnB

We vacationed in Costa Rica many times and this is the best BnB we ever stayed in. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, so many birds and butterflies, a place you can go back to in your mind if you need to get away from the stresses of daily life. Breakfast (served outside) is really good and the dinner prepared by Carlos and his wonderful team was beyond delicious (not available every day).
The room was spacious, tastefully decorated, with king size bed, full bathroom and outside sitting area.
The property also has trails that we walked early in the morning. Fun way to start the day.

We had a lovely time at Casa Batsu. The owners cook, clean, garden- they take care of their property and guests with heart and soul. We also had excellent guide recommendations and reservations directly from the owner. Our guide Will, was outstanding. My father and I had a wonderful time visiting Monteverde.

This was the best experience at a BnB and Carlos & his team set the bar high. First, the grounds are beautiful and lovely with the sweetest dog Rex. Secondly, Carlos is extremely kind, knowledgeable and responsive to any questions you may have about the area. Third, I was not prepared for the home cooked delicious meals! He makes a great cocktail, smoothie, juice, and the breakfasts are AMAZING. If you are lucky enough to have dinner at Casa Batsu- do it! It was one of our best meals on our entire trip. He is a fantastic cook. Even our picky kids loved his food!

Gorgeous room with private patio and large modern bathroom, very beautiful artwork throughout the casa. Well groomed gardens with lots of birds to observe. And great breakfasts! Really comfortable and clean place, super convenient and better weather than just over the valley on the Monteverde side!

Carlos and his wife (and the rest of the team) at Casa Batsu BnB were so welcoming and hospitable. The home is simple and beautifully appointed, the garden is gorgeous, and the food was better than anywhere else we stayed on our 8 day trip to northern Costa Rica. Carlos gave us great recommendations of things to do and places to go based on our preferences, and he never steered us wrong for restaurants to try in the area. We were so spoiled staying at Casa Batsu that we found ourselves comparing (less favorably) everywhere else we stayed. I would highly recommending going to Monteverde if you enjoy hiking and being in nature and I would definitely stay at Casa Batsu again!

If I could give Casa Batsú ten stars, I would. Paula, Carlos, and their beautiful family and home were a highlight of our entire trip. They are unfailingly kind and so knowledgeable! If you are lucky enough that Carlos offers to cook something for you, never turn him down! My girls are still talking about the pasta he made for them one afternoon. We plan to go back!

Five stars are not enough for Casa Batsu. The proprietors welcome you saying their home is your home served up with a freshly cut coconut water and rum cocktail. Superb local advice, wildlife suggestions, and the food... oh my the food! Casa Batsu was a highlight of our stay in Costa Rica no question.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are beautiful and the location is very convenient for all the activities in Monte Verde.

The staff are amazing and the breakfast that is included was so delicious. It’s a course a fruit, yogurt, and a main dish of omelette, huevos rancheros or one day they even had eggs Benedict. Amazing.

The owner Carlos is clearly super passionate about nature and the guest experience.

The two dogs on the property are so cute and well behaved and sweet.

If you are searching for a beautiful and charming hotel with gourmet cuisine this is your place to be. The owners and the staff are incredibly welcoming, the garden, the common areas and the rooms are beautiful, clean and very comfortable. And if all this wasn't enough, you are also served with an extraordinary breakfast, freshly prepared by Carlos. Best value for money that we have stayed in in Costa Rica. 100% recommended

My family of 5 spent 1 night here in the family suite: 2 BR/2 BA was exquisite. Room was clean and beautifully setup. Great location with easy access to all of our Monteverde adventures. Laura and Gonzalo recommended a spot for lunch (Sabor Tico) which might be one of our favorite meals in Costa Rica. The property has 2 resident dogs (Rec and Coco) which were a highlight for our kids. And the breakfast (!) was extraordinary; 4 plated courses, made to order Benedict, homemade bread and marmalade (I asked to buy some, but they don't have it for sale). Only complaint is that I wish the screens on the windows were better attached so that we could leave windows open (no fan or AC, or TV fyi), and we were worried about mosquitoes.

Absolutely fantastic! Everyone at Casa Batsu was so attentive and made sure we had a great time! The breakfast was so delicious, and the garden and birds were beautiful. We are birdwatchers and loved when they put out papaya to attract the birds. The laundry service was super convenient. We will always stay here when we come to Santa Elena, and will recommend this place to everyone! Do not stay anywhere else!

Our stay at Casa Batsu was a highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. From the moment we arrived, Laura greeted us with a welcoming smile, a delicious fruit smoothie, and an orientation of the property. Our rooms were well furnished with comfortable bedding and amenities to make our stay enjoyable. “Surprise and delight” extras include laundry service and bath robes. Daily breakfasts on the veranda were divine with fresh fruit and toast, coffee and juice, and a couple hot entree options which varied daily. We opted for dinner service prepared by Chef Carlos one evening which was an amazing 4-course immersive culinary experience from start to end! Throughout our 2-night stay, Owner Carlos shared lots of insights regarding the local community, culture, history, etc. The exceptional level of hospitality demonstrated by Carlos and every member of his team was like none other, making Casa Batsu B&B truly a Monteverde gem!

Casa Batsu is the very best place to stay in Monteverde! The rooms are beautiful and well maintained, the breakfast was amazing and Carlos, the owner, goes out of his way to help out in any way he can. It is about a kilometre from town, so also nice and quiet, but within walking distance of restaurants and shops

You’ll be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t stay at Casa Batsu for a few nights. Our three nights were totally fantastic in every way, but the highlight here is definitely the food. This should really be a foodie destination, because it's obvious that Carlos's passion is cooking. The complimentary breakfast every morning is ridiculously good and plentiful, and the dinners guaranteed to be the best you’ll have in Costa Rica (esp at $40/person). Dinner begins with a homemade cocktail of your choosing (try the spicy margarita!), followed by some sort of delicious appetizer, a spectacular main course from Carlos & Paula's personal repertoire, and a decadent dessert, accompanied of course with plenty of wine. Carlos repeatedly says "this is your home" and he truly means it. In addition to the food Carlos was very helpful in connecting us with a great guide for a night hike and making other local recommendations.

A beautiful stay. So very welcoming and hospitable. Delicious breakfast and outstanding dinner served by our host. Carlos looked after everything for us for hikes down to the smallest detail. Enjoyed our visit and would love to return.

CASA BATSU was phenomenal!!! The rooms were beautiful, big and airy! Service was top notch! Laura our host was so helpful and informative! Carlos (the owner) was keen to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed! Breakfast was included and was seriously phenomenal! The property was so calm and peaceful and we felt so relaxed and at ease there! We would absolutely stay here again without hesitation! Look no further for stellar accommodation in Monteverde! (Ask if the Quetzal suite is available- we lucked out & got the best room!!!) See you next time!

We had the best time staying at Casa Batsu! Carlos and his family are truly incredible. So warm and friendly and provided the best advice on what to do in the local area. The breakfast was incredible, the best we have had! The room is spacious and clean and beautiful, fantastic shower and brilliant location. We didn't want to leave! We also bought coffee that's made there - an amazing souvenir! We also fell in love with Rex (the owners dog!) Really didn't want to leave without him, the loveliest dog ever :) thank you for a brilliant stay!

Casa Batsu... Is Amazing! Carlos greeted us with a smile welcomed us to his and his wife's, Paula. home. Their hope is makled every one feel like family and they did! It is a wonderful place to stay. The food was the best that we had in Costa Rica. We staye there for 3 nights. Carlos and Paula are amazing hosts. If you want to go to a place where the food is fabulous, the hosts are attentive to any needs that you may require or just want a place to relax and enjoy ...this is the place. It is close enough to walk into town. Carlos can and will help you with any excursion that you are interested in and if you have an early start they will make sure that your belly is full. Carlos and his wife are wonderful people and have done a superb job with Casa Batsu!

Absolute fabulous and high class b&b. Extremely friendly and familary atmosphere. Beautifull garden and perfekt clean. Carlos, the chief, is also a great cook and prepares fantastic breakfast creation and great dinner. Absolute recommendation!!!
