Choco Café Restaurante y Cafetería

Amazing keto salad, delicious steak with mushrooms, and great burger! Food was so good, we went back the next day and tried another steak, chicken curry and Costa Rican traditional foods. My Lonely Planet guidebook recommended this restaurant and based on experience I do too!

Stopped in for a quick coffee and ended up talking to the owner and he educated us on how he roasted the coffee and what town it comes from. Very nice and came back to eat here many times while in Monteverde.

Some of the best Casado we have had. The beef was juicy and tender, rice and beans cooked perfectly and the salad was refreshing. We got the mango smoothie as well, made with real mangos, very good. They will call a taxi for you, the wifi was good. 10/10 would recommend

Enjoyed our late lunch sitting outside on the balcony. Our burgers were amazing, the smoothie was very tasty, and my cappuccino was one of the best I’ve had on my trip. For less than <$50 (including tax and tip) my partner and I had two burgers, a smoothie, a lemonade, a cappuccino and a piece of cheesecake. Great price for the food. Parking lot onsite so no hassle in finding a spot.

We ordered the chicken pesto sandwich, a cafe con leche and the seafood quesadilla. All were very tasty! Pictured is the chicken pesto sandwich.

By far the best place we ate at in Monteverde and maybe even our entire trip in Costa Rica! We stayed in Monteverde for two nights and we ate here twice! For lunch we had the pesto chicken sandwich that was delicious. The bread was fresh and the pesto or chicken wasn’t too salty. For dinner I had the salmon pasta which was also incredible. The passion fruit cheesecake was also amazing. You just can’t go wrong with what you order here. And the service was great to top it off.

One of the very best dinners ever. Family party of nine and three of us ordered the ribeye steak. The steaks were perfectly cooked and each plate was presented slightly different from the others which made for a very interesting dinner. We were so impressed with the dinner that I asked our waiter (who was amazing) if were could meet the chef. After some coaching from the staff the chef came to our table. She was very sweet and appreciative that we enjoyed her dinner so much.

Loved the variety in the menu. They easily accommodated a vegetarian version of the chicken and mushroom dish and my family said the chicken curry they had was their favorite meal in Costa Rica this far! The coffee was gorgeous, though a little sweet for my taste.

Amazing food, one of the most tasty we had in Costa Rica. The frapuccino was also super good. Thank you for making a gluten-free adjustment for us. 100% recommend :)

This restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of Hotel Tropico and it did NOT disappoint. While we only dined at the restaurant once, we stopped by 3 times during our 3 day stay at Monteverde simply for the delicious desserts.

The cheese flan and the tres leches were our favorites. There is parking at the restaurant, but you can also park at the Central Market across the street.

Wait staff were knowledgeable and attentive. Food was delicious and the price point felt like a steal! It seemed that everyone loved working here which is always a good vibe. Great salad, wine, beer selection and cappuccino.

Really friendly staff and speaks English really well. The quesadilla is very tasty and a big recommendation! Coffee wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but ok.

Very good cafe and restaurant with interesting menu and lots of cakes and other sweets to chose from. From all we had ordered, as seen on attached images, only burger was so so, everything else was excellent. Also, coffee (espresso) was so far the best we had in Costa Rica, rich, creamy and slightly on acid side the way I like it. There is convenient parking next to the venue.

Favorite restaurant in Monteverde…although we didn’t try as many as we normally would as we went back here 3 times in 3 days. Each time we had at least one Pepito (steak) Sandwich — one of the better sandwiches I’ve had in a while. Great drinks and desserts too.

I had the Salmon salad. It was fabulous. Everything was fresh. Everyone in our group enjoyed their lunch and the goodies from the bakery. I highly recommend this place

Superb restaurant that were brilliant at catering for gluten intolerance. Really friendly staff, very chatty and super helpful. Nice to see the restaurant cat pop by as we'd missed ours after a few weeks, we were told she runs the place :-) Top place to visit, lovely food and atmosphere.

This café is very nice and homey. They have a wide selection of coffee based drinks as well as a generous food, desert and beverage menu. They also have a small store with a nice selection of local goods ranging from coffee and chocolate bars to jewelry. The service was very nice and the cashier actually gave me nice recommendations of places to visit, as well as sharing her perspective as a local who has lived in Monteverde her whole life and has seen the community grow. Great to get to know these places and the people!

Great experience! While we were there, they were roasting coffee beans and we were encouraged to watch the process. The person roasting took the time to explain to us what he was doing and why. We learned a lot about coffee beans in just a few mins. We ended up wanting to purchase some beans before leaving. Very special. :)
