Cerro Chato Eco Lodge

Beautiful Eco Lodge surrounded by nature. I highly recommend this place for people who are looking to enjoy the arenal area without staying in an urban centre. We stayed here for 3 days, and loved being a walking distance from the waterfall trail as well as Cerro chato hike (which is super steep but very rewarding). Miguel is the man who will accommodate you as you arrive, and Maria is the lady who makes breakfast and takes care of a lot of the property. Both of them were amazing and made our stay even more comfortable. Overall flawless experience!!!

A nice lodge on expansive grounds away from the hustle and bustle of La Fortuna. The two Miguels provide excellent service with perfect English. Breakfast was great.

As for location, I really didn't mind the 3km walk to town. There are sidewalks for most of the walk (unusual for Costa Rica) and you get to check the menu at all the steakhouses along the way.

The swimming pool was was a perfect way to cool off after a day of hiking.

Close to La Fortuna waterfalls but be aware that it's uphill all the way.

Im currently 10 weeks into a 10 month tour of central and south america and so far this is one of the nicest places i have stayed. I found the location on hostel world and am very surprised. By hostel standards this is REALLY nice but i really wouldnt call it a hostel. More like a budget priced lodge with great private rooms and cabins. In between tours i was sitting on my front bench watching toucans and other birds in the trees. The volcano is basically right across the street and the owners have been 100% helpful in giving advise and booking tours as needed. Its just out of town but still near tons or restaurants and town is really only a few minutes drive away. Sitting outside listening to the sounds of nature is a plus in my book and an added plus it has hot water!

This is a nice, small lodge. Good breakfast on site; you need to go into the town of La Fortuna for dinner. This lodge is conveniently close to Cerro Chato volcano, which you can hike up ($10 entry fee). The trail is steep and muddy.

Beautiful lodge even if it's slightly outside. Consider US$ 5 each time you want to go to the center and 5 come back.
Owner was extremely friendly and passionate about the town. Breakfast was good too. Room was excellent!

We really enjoyed staying here. The owner is super nice and the accommodations were great! Hot water, huge shower, comfy bed and plenty of room within our room. We'd definitely go back!

This is a property that has as main objectives to reduce , recycle and reuse different elements for increased performance and in turn, higher output power for the facility. Also actively promotes the recycling of glass, paper and plastic , placing special containers for separate waste .

Another important point is the efficient use of energy. Therefore , it seeks to ensure that all electricity from renewable sources hostel leading to the greatest possible saving it .

We have systems in water-saving faucets and toilets, light bulbs, appliances and ecofriendly design windows to keep the rooms cool .

We offer guests the opportunity to enjoy an eco- tour to explore the area further local natural wealth. For this, we have trained in ecotourism, able to offer advice and suggestions to environmental ratings guides.

Miguel the owner was very helpful and nice, the rooms are comfortable for hostel standards and the location is fantastic! The breakfast is also very delicious.
