Amazing experience here. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The zipline is incredibly beautiful and the guides made the experience truly special. The spa was excellent and very relaxing - the sounds of the river made for a wonderful atmosphere. Bring earplugs - the rain is very loud on the roofs of the cabin!

We really enjoyed our stay here it felt like a more genuine Costa Rican experience. You will be staying in a cabin in the heart of the rainforest. It is a very beautiful setting with a river running through it. You can relax in hot springs day or night surrounded by nature. If you are looking for an adventure this is the place for you but if you are looking for resort comfort then it's not. We stayed for a couple of nights and that felt perfect. The staff are so friendly and we found the food very tasty. You will need a 4x4 to get up to the cabins.

Totally worth a visit. Howler monkeys at night, humming birds, fire flyes, great hot and cool pools and nice and tidy! Very helpful staff.

Beautiful thermal pools from the Poas Volcano, also a colder manantial pool, and a river that runs throughout

This is a secluded, beautiful place and by far my favorite hot springs in all of CR.
If you get a chance come and check it out if you can't, add it to your places to go.
I've been coming here since 2011 and I've seen how they're constantly improving and making it a better experience. I love this place and I wish I could give it 10 stars ⭐!

A real retreatment! Spending an afternoon or even a day/night there is extremely relaxing and smooth! The restaurant serves decent and affordable dishes, the surroundings (little "jungle") is pretty loud from sounds of birds and other animals...I honestly enjoyed every minute there!

What can I say about this place? Do you like to be waken up by the sound of howler monkeys in the rainforest? Do you want to be alone in a thermal water pool at 5:00 AM, listening to the sounds of the jungle and the river while toucans and hummingbirds fly above your head? Do you want to experience true Costa Rican hospitality with some of the nicest and helpful people you will ever meet? Do you like tasty food of epic portion size that you will struggle finishing at a decent price? Do you want to have a short but amazing morning jungle trek just outside your cabin? If the answer to all of those is yes, then Recreo Verde is for you.

If you are looking for something fancy and a resort experience this is not it, but if you are looking to get away from it all and truly feel immersed in nature, this is unmissable. The whole area is a gem that's still not as popular as other places so hurry up and go before it becomes another La Fortuna. I left Recreo Verde today after 3 days and I feel like it probably ruined the rest of my Costa Rica trip as I don't think the rest of the places will compare. It will always have a special place in my heart and my memory for as long as I will be able to keep my memories. Thank you to all the staff and people I met there. Keep up the good work.

-the swiming pools with mineral hot spring water have a hot and nice temperature
-the swimming pools are surrounded by trees and nature, a couple of Toucans were in a tree in front of the swimming pool
-there is a nice view of the river too and garden around were many hummingbirds can be found
-the cabins are made of wood, very clean, with hot water in the shower, also coffee maker, freezer, small electric stove, beds are good, I would recommend to bring additional blankets because nights are very cold. the cabins dont have A/C because the place is very cool during the day and cold in the night.
-Breakfast in the restaurant was included during my stay and was a very nice costarican style breakfast with very good coffee.
-there is a play ground for kids
-there is a nice trail for hiking
-additional activities can be done like Canopy Tour
-the place is located two hours away from Alajuela City by car
-there are several Barbecue spots around the swimming pools
-there is a nice Spa
The roads to reach the place are in perfect conditions.

I really like this place.

We're here midweek and are the only overnight guests. We had lunch & dinner here and we were the only guests in the rather large restaurant.

It's peaceful, quiet and tranquil. Where else can you soak in the spring water, spend a night, have 3 meals and a 1-hour massage for each of us for $150? Alcoholic beverages not included with the meals.

Friendly helpful staff. Daily cleaning. Hotspring is very helpful relaxing after all day tour. Awesome Catarata del toro & blue waterfalls nearby. Place is not crowded hidden in pure nature. Just keep in mind to bring your own cooking pots, plates and knive - there is nothing in the cabin kitchen. You can use bbq grills near river its cool idea.

Very friendly and helpful. Loved staying in the cabins : rustic, but clean and accommodating. The canopy tour is always a fun adventure and we never get tired of seeing the "cave of death".

Gosh, I can't gush enough. Melvin and Cesar took us on the canopy tour zip lines- including my 61 year old sister who was scared to death. They were kind, patient, helpful and funny - and the zip lines were AMAZING. If you make it to Costa Rica, GO HERE!

This is a wonderful place to enjoy nature, thermal water swimming, sight seeing, barbecuing, walking, exploring the view of the canopy, etc. Very family oriented business. Customer service is excellent.

Rustic cabins in the woods. Feels far away and remote, by river on the edge of forest just outside of national park. Friendly staff.
