worth the trip. Absolutely. Free bathrooms where you buy tickets to go up the rock. Don’t need to pay people at the restaurants.
Go to the cafe next to the exit of the rock for good views and cafe.

Clean, well organized and secured. Super safe and epic views.

Beautiful place! It is truly a must to climb up all of the stairs! It doesn't matter if you're not in good shape or are a little bit old just take your time and rest a minute catch your breath and give it your all!

Great time! You can go alone, or with the tour guide, I recommend going with a tour guide, make sure you pick the right one. 740 steps can be accomplished in about 20 minutes going up (if you’re healthy). Beautiful 360° views

A huge rock worth climbing. It takes about 15-20min to climb up 659 steps while enjoying a woderful view. There is a bar a souvenir shops up top, and several viewing decks.
I recommend coming before 10am, as it gets very crowded after that, and the staircase is not too wide. Seperate narrower staircase is used to climb down.
There are several restaurants and souvenir shops at the bottom of the rock.

Be prepared for a good amount of stair climbing 756... but the panoramic view from the summit is absolutely worth the effort. The vistas are stunning, and the town itself is charming to wander through.

25000 cop entry fee. Different paths to go up and down. The way down don’t have any views. A good exercise but takes 10 mins to climb if you are really fit. 20-25 mins max if you take breaks. They sell beverages in thr top. Great views.

El Peñón de Guatapé, an awe-inspiring destination, offers a truly remarkable experience for those willing to embark on its challenging ascent. The journey to the summit involves navigating 740 steps, a feat requiring both physical stamina and determination. This path not only tests your endurance but also rewards you with breathtaking views, making every step worthwhile.

The history of El Peñón de
Guatapé is a testament to the vision and hard work of individuals committed to making this natural wonder accessible to all. As you climb, the elevation increases to 7,000 feet above sea level, presenting a challenge even for those in excellent physical condition. The thinning air makes breathing more difficult, underscoring the importance of taking regular breaks and staying hydrated.

Preparation is key for this adventure. Wearing a t-shirt and bringing an extra one for changing at the top is advisable, as the rigorous climb guarantees a good sweat. Carrying a water bottle is essential for staying hydrated throughout the journey.

Upon reaching the summit, the reward is twofold: a stunning panoramic view that captivates and soothes the soul, and a sense of personal achievement. The top of El Peñón de Guatapé isn’t just a physical destination; it's a place of relaxation and reflection. For convenience, there are restrooms available.

The descent offers a different perspective of the landscape and leads to a shopping center where visitors can purchase souvenirs, fruits, and water – a perfect way to commemorate the accomplishment.

El Peñón de Guatapé is more than just a tourist spot; it's a journey that tests your limits and rewards you with unparalleled views and a profound sense of achievement. It's an experience that stays with you long after the descent, making it a top choice for anyone seeking adventure and natural beauty.

Cheers,

BN

Fascinating attraction to visit. The climb appeared to be tough but was actually quite manageable. Likely to take 20-30 minutes to climb to the top depending on the crowd. With more people, the climb would be slow, hence not strenuous. Fantastic panoramic view of the surrounding area at the top. Very busy. It's worth a trip

Awesome wonder to visit about 2 hours drive from Medellin. Cost is 25,000 Colombian Pesos to climb the Penon which as of today is just over $6. Plenty of space at each stair turn to stop and catch your breath as you hike up over 700 steps. The views are amazing but as this area can have sudden rain showers keep an eye on the weather. Only negative experience was at the top there were many many bugs so bring some bug spray. Bugs on the parking lot level were not present so must be an altitude thing where they migrate up onto the rock. Enjoy!

Great hike to the top and lots of eateries. Can’t miss a boat tour!

Bring WATER it gets warm and you’ll need it after you climb the stairs.

Amazing place, you have to go ready for the 750 step climb (and the really curved and narrow descent) views are gorgeous even though there was a lot of people. There are some restaurants and little shops that had food, water and souvenirs.

a must-see sight in a cool town from when you’re looking at day trips from Medellin. The bus ride will take you over 2 hours. When you get to the rock, there’s about 600 steps. It took us about 10 minutes to walk to the top, and it was quite a strenuous hike. Views are worth it

One of the best views in Colombia. The climb might be hard if you’re not in shape or if you’re pregnant or really old (or disabled- not possible). 700 steps from ticketing (20mil cop each), plus if you’re by foot from main road add to it like 300 more.
There are two view points from above, some stores and free bathroom.

It’s a bit of a walk up, but the views are breathtaking. We went on a tour from Medellin, which I recommend. Not much to do at the top, and the sites down below are touristy. Still well worth it though!

Absolutely gorgeous! No matter how long it takes to get to the top, every stair is worth it! The view is unbeatable, and one of the best I’ve ever seen.

Lovely nature with the lakes around and the climb to the top of the mountain is around 750 steps. The view is absolutely amazing from there. You could just take an uber from medelin which costs around 120K COP for a car or the piblic bus which is 25K per person.

I suggest getting there early so that you have the place to yourself with few people. Crowds build up during the day and especially during covid you want to beat the crowd. The place is beautiful, giving you a clear view of the entire place. Lot of places to eat on top and at the bottom as well. You'll surely count the steps going on top. Its a little tiring but the view is worth it.
