Dominion Chair General Store

Dominion Chair General Store, an old school iconic local store not limited to daily need stuff but some rustic look hardwood and steel furniture and decoration too.

The store has three levels. Of course the ground level is the general store with items available more than for basic needs. The first level got the public washroom and all the decorative and vintage items. There are old style dining tables and china crockery on display too. The upper second level got rest of the furniture and some more vintage stuff.

This store is located in the Bass River rural area right besides the other major attraction of this area, the Loggers and Woodworkers park, Veterans Memorial Park and Bass River Heritage Museum. Its a local family maintained old store who takes love to welcome all passerby. Whenever visiting these places give a show to the store and you would not regret. I personally am amazed visiting this store never expected in this area. It must have been catering to the needs of locals and visitors for years.

This is a well stocked, multi-faceted general store. Hardware, grocery, movies, gift shop, liquor store and lots more here. Friendly, helpful staff as well

What a place. It reminded me of a General store we had up the Ottawa Valley way. Lots of everything and anything plus a few surprises. Good bass fishing supplies and advice on where to go. I didn't get "the big one" but continued good luck with your fishing derby.

A very interesting country general store that still has some furniture left over from the Dominion Furniture manufacturing business that closed in 1989. A walk back in time....an amazing wooden building over 130 years old.

Love this store. Bass River is iconic for Nova Scotia and this store is a great place to soak that up. Nice hardwood furniture at great prices. All kinds of one of a kind items for sale. Friendly staff made our stop enjoyable.

I bought a car in Halifax Saturday morning, it broke down outside the store. Worked on it as we could until we couldn’t and it got dark and cold. We went into the store for odd things we needed (bathroom, tools, food and drinks) they were extremely hospitable to us and let us keep the car parked outside till we could move it (took 4 days) but they were great the entire time. The store is a sight for sore eyes, lots of cool stuff in there and worth the stop, even if you’re local, I grew up in moose river which is close to bass river and I always loved stopping by. Always worth the stop

A relic that has been around for decades. If you are a native of N.S and are a generation or generations of your family. Chances are, your entire family walked in this store ! Love this place. Hope it lasts a few more years

Prices are fair and competitive. Store has great service and has a wide variety of grocery items, frozen goods and movie rental. Store also has very good hardware section as well as an NSLC outlet on site.

A one stop shop, they have just about anything you may be looking for, from gift ideas to plumbing supplies. It has an old time General store feeling and is a historical land mark in Bass River.

Love this store. Lots of crafts and art at great prices. Just about anything you may need, can be found here, even a good cup of coffee!
