Canoe & Paddle

First time at this small town gem of a restaurant as we passed through on route from cottage to home for a Sunday dinner. Busy place so we took to the bar for a beverage while awaiting for our patio table. The hostess/waitress was very personable and had great charm as she got our drinks and shared her fave menu items while allowing us to put our meal order in before hitting the patio. Once seated outside, our meal arrived shortly…spicy chicken sandwich for me and the Big Ben burger for my wife. Both were huge portions, mine with sweet potato fries and my wife’s with fresh fries. Both meals were tremendous and I could hardly open wide enough to bite down on my spicy (wasn’t too 🌶) chicken as it was huge! Delicious meal, great small town vibe in the heart of Lakefield, ON and amazing staff across the board. We’ll definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I came to this lovely place for dinner and it was absolutely amazing. We both got the “porky pig” a pulled pork sandwich with a salad and it was amazing. I personally suggest the lock 26 to drink, I will be going home to try and recreate it. Our server was splendid, the older gentle man beside us referred to him as curly locks. He was very kind, welcoming and is extremely good at his job. Definitely our new favourite restaurant. If you don’t believe me when I say how good this place is you should know that I have never left a review on a restaurant before but this place is so good I just had to let other people know!

Amazing food! Best buttermilk chicken I've ever had!
Garlic cheese and bacon Flatbread was excellent! Service was friendly and the hustle was good.
Only suggestion I would have is the fries are over done.
Overall a great experience!

Came here for a stagette dinner and the food and service was exceptional!
Our server Jeremy was always one step ahead of us with our antics and was a lot of fun
We all preferred fish and chips and one veggie burger.
The fish was delish! Poutine was good and is considered vegetarian.
The veggie burger was flavourful.
Aidan at the bar customized an expresso Martini that had no chocolate for the bride !

Sarah was an excellent staff and host.
Great deal on kids meal where a purchase gets you an ice cream at the ice cream shop next door (June 2022). Kids meal portion was really good too.
Good bar pub design on the inside and looks like lots of events happen there during the week. Didn't get a chance to visit the patio outside but looked like a nice scene too.

Very pleasant service even though they were under staffed on the civic holiday Monday. We ate a taco bowl and wings. The Cajun dry rub was very good and just the way I like them. They had some craft beer selections as well. We will return in the future.

We visited one evening for drinks and the following morning for breakfast. Our evening server, Sarah, was full of information and happy to be challenged to make a cocktail that was new to her. Our breakfasts were great too and the stand out was the bacon which was more thickly sliced that retail bacon and certainly more tasty.

Have been a few times as it's the perfect location for a motorcycle road trip and they can always accommodate seating indoors or out back. Today I ordered a salad bowl with chicken. It was ridiculously huge. My husband ordered a burger and it did not disappoint. (I'll never understand why some restaurants have frozen burger patties. So when the man wants a burger and it's a nice homemade burger, I'm happy, he's happy.) Hubby likes lime cordial in his beer and they didn't have any ... I found that odd but still one of our favourite go to road trip lunch places.

Staff were very nice and helping each other which was nice to see.

Great pub food and more. Live music at times. Fish and chips were great. Grilled cheese sandwich was the best I can remember. All large portions. Outside tables available.

We had the wings and French fries. Everythingwas delicious. The beer was cold The service was great. The staff were friendly. Cute little place with a great atmosphere. We like to go back in the summer and sit on the patio. Lakefield is so pretty.

The building has two entrances: one to the coffee and sandwich shop and the other to the restaurant. Same owners. The pub is an excellent English pub. Nice decor and very friendly service and patrons. Full bar: liquor, beer and wine. Interesting menu. The items we ordered were prepared so well and tasted so good. Some of the best English food we have had. The Yorkshire pudding was cooked to perfection. The fish and chips was lightly battered and very crispy with juicy fish inside. The sticky toffee was well prepared and so tasty!

Stopped by on Mothers Day, server Ben was absolutely wonderful. Genuine service and warm welcoming. Will be back for sure! The Lad deserves all the raises ;)

Excellent food!! The atmosphere is cozy, the servers are very friendly and Hats-Off!! to the chef....I'd go back for more than seconds!! A must stop if you're in the area and hungry for some real pub food!

Sarah was our server. She was super friendly and attentive. I had the beef stew. It was very good. My husband had the garlic chicken dish and loved it. No issues when we wanted substitutions on a couple of items. Had specialty coffees for dessert. They were delicious. Would definitely go back.

Popped in for a quick beer with a friend before heading back to Blue mountain. Phenomenal service and atmosphere! Food was amazing. Will be back! Thank you so much! -Josh

What a great British Pub to visit. The food was comforting and delicious. The staff friendly and the atmosphere was very warm and relaxing. I'll be back.

Food portion and quality were great. Server was very friendly. They have a large patio.

Went in during the summer of 2020, COVID practices seemed to be taken seriously! I actually liked not having a server to minimize contact with people. The patio was nicely set up, socially distanced from other tables. The food was awesome (get the crab cakes!), the portions were crazy huge, and the white wine sangria was so delicious. PLUS they offer sticky toffee pudding on their dessert menu. Any restaurant that does that gets an automatic 10/10! Definitely a fun date night for a younger crowd!

Such a chill bar in Lakefield, great patio and great staff, loved it there.
