Walked up after I called, was greeted by a wonderful dog and a very nice worker. I told him my problem is with my pedals and he saw and fixed the issue in 5 minutes! He tighten a baring? I’m not sure. He didn’t charge me but said to come back if that didn’t fix it entirely!

So i caught the bike bug and have been to a couple of shops around toronto. Mike and the guys at batemans helped hook me up with a sweet first mountain bike and its perfect for what i need. They have done a great job helping me with everything i need even during this interesting time. I have been back a couple of times now for some odds and ends and they have been consistent in service. Great attitudes, great products, highly reccomend batemans to anyone who's looking for a bike shop!

But what I can tell you is between Rob, Mike and the rest of the sales team they have all types of cycling covered with deep knowledge—XC to enduro, road to gravel to CX, and all the city riding and hauling you want.

Then Kris and the service team can repair anything and solve the most obscure of mechanical/technical challenges. They’ve expanded the repair shop to one of the largest (if not the largest) in Toronto.

But the magic is how it all comes together to support an inclusive community of good people on bikes. There’s the team for more competitive spirits. There’s a club with casual rides—often built around inclusivity to tackle some of the stigmas/stereotypes around cycling.

The only thing you might be disappointed about is because they’re so good, so popular they are busy so service might not be scheduled as “immediately” as you’d like.

They’re good people doing good things, and they help make my cycling dreams come true, which is why I choose to support Bateman’s!

Because the store was closed (covid), I emailed them to see if they had any Yuba cargo bikes in stock that I could gift my wife for Mother's Day. The owner, Rob, got back to me right away -- and then custom built a bike for her in two days! Then when I got to the store to pick it up, I realized the bike was too long to fit in my van. So he RODE THE BIKE TO MY HOUSE for me. If that's not the best customer service in Toronto, I don't know what is. The bike is awesome. My wife loves it. My kids love it. And I know if anything ever goes wrong with it, Rob will take care of it, no fuss. A+++

No words can describe how much I love this bike shop.
Been with them for 7 years. I went every year to get my Schwinn bike tuned. Got to know Mike over the years and always received excellent service from him. He went above and beyond when doing a bike fit for my new road bike. He was always honest and gave me recommendation on bike parts and accessories that were within my budget and my level of expertise (aka beginner lol). He spent time to teach me more about my new bike, how to position myself properly on it, what to do/not to do, etc. I am so sad that I will no longer be able to visit Bateman's, as I am moving out of province. But I am incredibly thankful to have had the support of this shop as I begin my new chapter with road cycling.

I’ve been coming to Bateman’s on and off for the past 5 years. The first time I was there my family and I rented a few bikes to tour the city during the summer. I was so happy with the bike and service offered that I bought a bike from Bateman’s the week after!

After that I kept coming back because the staff, besides being friendly and knowledgeable, were always honest with me and never did I get that feeling that “they’re just trying to sell me things” (which I’ve repeatedly gotten from other bike shops on the city).

Recently I dropped off my bike which needed some service. A few days later they emailed letting me know the bike was ready for pickup… because of work I couldn’t pick it up soon. Mike offered to store my bike for over a week until I could pick it up.

Needless to say Bateman’s is an amazing bike shop and one which I’ll continue to use as long as I’m in Toronto. Highly recommend!

This was the only bike shop in the neighbourhood open as early as I needed. I came in to try to find a replacement seat post clamp. They had exactly what I needed, fixed it right away, and refused to accept payment! Kindness like this makes our community a better place. What a wonderful shop - I’ll definitely be back!

I got a new bike tube installed yesterday at a bike store ( that will remain nameless) and today - flat.

Bateman’s was nearby and the staff was empathetic to my ordeal and they offered to install and give me a tube FOR FREE.

It’s a chill environment with great staff (obviously) and if you want things done right the FIRST TIME you need to come here.

Excellent customer experience. In less than two days I got a fully custom Santa Cruz Bronson. Price was also fair and reasonable.

Got a tuneup here and the turnaround was only a day, which is amazing. They also simply tightened my chain rather than selling me a new one (as other repair shops have done). Online booking was quick and easy. Also enjoyed visiting with a shop doggo!

I live in Gatineau and purchased my daughter’s bike at this shop because the price was very good.

Even though my purchase was during the holidays, all my questions through emails we’re answered promptly.

Robert Bateman went above and beyond in order to find a solution to get the bike to me in Gatineau.

He arranged a pickup at his store and got it delivered to my house within few days only.

I am very pleased with the service that I got and honestly if you are hesitating between this Bateman’s Bicylcle company shop and another bike shop, don’t think twice ! This is where you should go !!

I just picked up my bike, over of many visits to Bateman's over the years. On top of fixing the actual problem, they fixed a couple of other small details without even being asked. This is truly going above and beyond during a busy season, particularly for a business that already offers high quality, friendly and prompt service. Plus they don't try to oversell you with services or repairs you don't need. Highly recommend!

I came to bateman’s to find a new bike as mine had a complete break in the frame. Mike recommended a lovely Opus 9-speed which I liked; however I still wanted to try a peddle-assist bike that they didn’t carry. Mike allowed me to purchase the bike and ride it over to the other bike store, and assured me a full refund if I wanted to get the peddle-assist. I ended up getting the peddle-assist, so essentially Mike provided me with a free ride. He was honest, kind, knowledgeable; and I got to pet adorable Radler, the store dog. Thanks so much Mike!

I was helped today my Marshel and he was able to fix my squeaking issue in no time at all!! They are always super helpful and knowledgeable at what they do!! Favorite bike shop in the city for sure!!!

Incredible service and great people. I was mountain bike racing in Quebec and crashed my bike. I had races coming up with no bike and they were able to get a new Santa Cruz Blur very quickly. Mechanics helped set the bike up and did an amazing job. lots of great insight on mountain bike racing and just fun trail riding so they can give you advice on setups of bikes no matter what type of rider you are. There are two separate buildings, a sales store and a service shop directly across the street from each other which I really liked as it avoids any confusion. Service is great, lots of effort to make their costumers as happy as can be, definitely a great place to get a bike.

These guys literally saved my Saturday morning ride when I got a flat just north of their location about an hour before they even opened. Not knowing how to change a tire I walked my bike over to their location accepting the fact that I'd likely be waiting outside until they opened. The cycling gods smiled upon me that day in the form of Sam and Nick two employees who had just returned from their own morning ride before work. Sam changed my tire well before he was on shift simply to help me out. As a result I was able to join my buddies and go on an amazing ride that day. If that's not good vibes I don't know what is!

I've purchased my bike and all my gear from these guys and they've been nothing but pleasant, professional and helpful. Happy to give them my business. If you're looking for a place with friendly staff who know what they're talking about look no further.

Rob helped me pick my first gravel bike. I have no experience in biking, but Rob was incredibly helpful. I just told him what I was looking for and my budget, and he took care of the rest. He set me up with the PERFECT bike for my needs and there was a huge sale on it! He didn't try to up-sell anything - he got me all the gear I needed and kept it within my budget. He also took the time to teach me the basics of riding gravel, since I am new to the sport. The whole staff at Bateman's was super friendly, helpful and patient. Their showroom is beautiful as well, they have a huge selection of bikes. Buying my first bike was a great experience, and I HIGHLY recommend seeing these professionals.

I am not even sure what to write here to be honest. By far the best possible experience. Buying a bike in the last year has been ... challenging. I had actually ordered a bike through another shop that basically strung me along and then screwed up and cancelled my order. That was when I went to Bateman's. What an experience. Rob was fast at getting my order in (line) and then was super quick to update on changes when I asked. The experience was so good in fact that I have another order in the queue for a bike for my wife. You want to work with these guys. You WILL NOT be disappointed.
