I wanted to update this review since I joined Mike & Dianna Cartwright’s Brokerage in 2018… They are truly amazing in not only guiding their agents ethically but continuously assisting their agents to further develop their tools to serve their clients and help scale their agents business to the next level. Almost 5 years with Main Street- I wish I would have began my career in 2007 with them.

Amazing Real Estate Brokerage to work at. The Owners & management team of this brokerage are genuine, caring & very supportive to their agents. They offer state of the art marketing tools and are extremely tech savvy. I have worked for much larger brokerages in the past - but never learned so much in such a short time.

We have worked with Denise Forgie to sell two homes and purchase one and each experience has been smooth sailing. She was very attentive to my family's needs and always came prepared. Being older and not very good signing documents electronically she came to the house so we could sign the papers while she explained everything
This personal touch of service is not often found in this day and age

I attempted to contact this Newmarket location this week regarding a condo they have listed for sale in Aurora. I have never heard of this brokerage before but I have also not bought or sold in almost 15 years. The receptionist offered no information and would not allow me to speak to a manger. I requested the agent contact information and was also denied
Seemed fishy and many of the reviews reflect the same from agents
Better off working with a reputable broker office or large well reviewed real estate team

Terrible Experience! Avoid at all costs! My husband and I have bought and sold many properties in the past and never had such a terrible experience with any of the realtors we dealt with until we met Denise Forgie, the realtor who represented us as buyers in our last transaction. She claimed to have over 10 years of experience as a realtor, yet, her answer to most of our requests and concerns was “ I NEVER EVER EVER heard of this” or “done that before”. Almost all our phone calls with her were unnecessarily prolonged because she constantly repeated her self and interrupted us making it very difficult to complete each and every one of our sentences. Communication with Denise was a struggle, she fluffed us off almost every time we made a reasonable request or needed a concern addresses. Throughout the whole process she didn’t care at all about us as clients instead, it was very obvious that all she cared about was her commission that we strongly believe she didn’t deserve. 1- From the start, she advised us to put an offer for an amount higher than the asking price and yet sellers easily accepted a lower price. 2- During the initial negotiations, she was constantly taking the seller’s side as a pressure tactic, advising us to let them keep appliances such as the washer and dryer and acted very surprised when we mentioned that they should be included in the purchase price because they were already included under chattels on the actual listing. She asked us in denial with condescending tone “do you want to take their washer and dryer?” as if our request was very unreasonable. 3- She advised us that the seller wanted to sell the house in an “as is” condition and that was the norm in the real estate world which was far from truth. I am glad that We insisted on removing this clause from the agreement and not listened to her advice. 4- There is a huge amount of garbage and a few trailers (one of them is a large tractor trailer) on the property. We asked Denise to put $10,000 purchase price reduction as a penalty in case sellers left them behind for us to remove. She mentioned that was an outrageous request and advised us that sellers would definitely remove them and it was okay to go with only $2000. Luckily, we insisted on $5000 price discount. Of course that was a sweet deel for the sellers who left the garbage and trailers behind. I just learned that, removing the garbage alone without the trailers will cost more than $4000 and no one dealing with scrap metal has yet confirmed that the trailers can be removed and how much that will cost...but who cares, it’s not her money! 5- What really made us question her integrity and professionalism is when she extremely pressured us with several phone calls and text messages to waive the finance condition when we told her that we had only a conditional approval from the bank and it wasn’t final yet. We even offered to send her an email with the bank’s conditional approval. Instead of supporting our position and requesting an extension, she kept calling and texting, accusing us of playing games!!!. Our worst mistake was submitting to her pressure and waiving that condition. My husband and I lived under much stress for at least 14 days waiting for the bank’s final approval. Calling our banker few times every day and submitting more paperwork to expedite the process. If the bank didn’t waive the conditions and gave us a final approval, we would have potentially lost our sizeable deposit. 6- And the cherry on top was during the most critical time of the deal, closing time, She was away vacationing and leaving us to deal with a crummy situation where one of the sellers didn’t want to sign closing documents. She didn’t care to be present or at least send one of her team members to attend our last visit as she promised.

Nightmare!. Denise Forgie acted on my behalf as a buyer. Her bad advice and lack of professionalism led to a major financial loss and unnecessary stress. Complaining to the person in charge in this office was absolutely useless. Deal with this office only if you are looking for trouble.

My name is Chris and my wife and I are proud homeowners on a well-kept beautiful street in Hamilton. We have worked very hard to buy our home and take great pride in it's appearance as do the rest of our neighbors. Although we have not utilized the services of Main Street Realty, we are however having great difficulty with one of their realtors named KANNAN SHANMUGATHASAN and felt it was important to alert you to how selfish and inconsiderate this man is.
Last year Mr. SHANMUGATHASAN purchased the home next to ours. Although he said he would be renting it, he did give us his WORD that his neighbors are his MAIN PRIORITY. This can be quite unsettling in a neighborhood like ours because you never know who will be residing there. Since then tenants have come and gone and haven't maintained the property.
This year, despite photos and repeated pleas to maintain his property, he has NOT. Although there are tenants living there the home looks abandoned. The lawn is absolutely disgusting with overgrown weeds, tons of dandelions, newspapers and knee-high grass.
I find it disgusting that as a realtor who understands how an unkept home can NEGATIVELY impact another's value he would show such complete disregard. Now he is messing with peoples investment and finances and that won't be tolerated.
I have tried to offer solutions such as me maintaining it for a minimal fee($20/week) but no response. Unfortunately his unwillingness to maintain the front lawn at the very least has escalated the situation to the point were I have now had to contact the City to help take care of the sutuation.
Home ownership comes with responsiblities and you can't just purchase a home in another city, forget about it and let it go. Clearly Mr. SHANMUGATHASAN doesn't care about anybody but himself, nor is he responsible enough to own one. This shows his true character and what little respect he has for others.
If this is how he conducts himself in his personal affairs, it's likely it transfers into his professional affairs.
Mr. SHANMUGATHASAN, you should be ashamed of yourself.

My experience with this so called realty firm is terrible. Had communication with at least three agents who were unresponsive, instead of being helpful would slow or disrupt progress in sale and purchase. Their ammunition is making you stressed and hoping to create a vulnerable client. Should have license revoked. Working on formal complaint for unprofessionalism. Undeserved even the one star but had to select at least one to submit. Please avoid at all cost.
