Amazing trails, beautiful sites, the cleanest facilities I have ever seen in my life.

Sharon (the park ranger) does such an amazing job at keeping this park tidy. She was knowledgable and very helpful for the questions we had.

The trails are so unique and offer some very cool views.

We will for sure be going down sometime next summer!

This is a hidden gem for simple camping. Nice walks, great place to paddle and fish. This a very well maintained facility, mowed and cleaned regularly. Play ground is open and easy to access. Group/overflow nicely by the boat launch and accommodates probably 15 to 20 trailers, depending on how you like to arrange units.

Altogether a very scenic, comfortable non-reservable campground that is convenient to access away from larger populations. A real delight.

What a nice place to visit. Natural prairie habitat in a wide scenic valley. The Battle river meanders through leaving oxbow lakes full of waterfowl and beavers. There’s two decent trails and lots of wildlife and great views. The park has a boat launch, campground and a day use area.
The facilities were clean and maintained. I recommend stopping and exploring for a day.

Great spot for camping. The area is surrounded by a forest, and is alongside a small river. The hiking trails were also nice, featuring plains, hills, and hoodoos.

Lovely hike on well-maintained trails. I brought the kids bikes and we walked. The hoodoos were beautiful! The kids also enjoyed the playground.

Beautiful slice of the Alberta Badlands approximately 30 minutes Northeast of Stettler. Simple Provincal Park campground that is well maintained and has a couple of great nature walks. The lowlands trail is a must to check out the lazy winding Battle River and the stunning views from the hoodoo filled hills. This trail is accessed via the day use area which is down a short switchback of stairs and would be a lovely well shaded place to have a picnic. Only negative was a few folks not practicing generator courtesy and running the things all day and well into the night for no apparent reason.

I had the pleasure of visiting this hidden gem of a provincial park a couple of weeks ago and I really enjoyed the River Flats trail! The River Flats trail gives stunning views of Battle River while also showcasing the typical features associated with the Badlands, I am of course talking about the Hoodoos! The trail itself was not too strenuous and was very nice change of pace, I would highly recommend staying at the campground on site over a weekend as there is many other spots to explore in the local area.

I cannot highly recommend this park enough as it does not get the same amount of attention as other provincial parks with similar features [Dry Island, Midland & Dinosaur Provincial Parks come to mind]. If you are in the Forestburg area definitely give Big Knife a visit as it is well worth your time to visit this hidden gem!

Just wow. We drive in, not expecting much, but it's beautiful. There's campsites, tent sites, and an overflow. The campsites are nice, but it was the whole area I found so beautiful.

Walk in tening sites are large, well shaded. Many different walking trails covering many different topographies. There are no creatures comforts, but the park does provide many different games at the playground, a 2 seat paddleboard to explore the boat launch, and a community library with some games and DVDs.
If you are looking for a traditional roughing-it experience, lots of wildlife, and generally just an interesting place to visit, this is the place.

Surprisingly scenic with lots of very well maintained hiking trails. The campground is very well maintained. It is dry camping so you'll get people running their generators at annoying times on the weekend. All in a very nice place to overnight or spend a couple days.

Great campground, all sites are clean and all sites are great locations. Nice hikes in the area to hoodoos and the Battle River. There is Tiger trout fishing located within 5 min drive at Diplomat Mine Trout Pond.

Beautiful setting and well maintained campground. So much to do and see just short drive from the campsite. Beautiful short hikes are available right from the camp loop. There is an awsome interperative center just across the river and up the hill. Awsome modern playground for the kids. Had a nice boat launch. Outhouses where some of the cleanest I've ever seen. They also have potable water on site and a dump station on the way out. Would highly recomend and will be going back for sure!
