I am an avid horse lover, rider, sometimes trainer and competitor most of my 64 years. Appraising a horse whether you are donating him to a university equine program, special needs mount, selling him or any other appraisal you may need must be done with careful consideration. Many factors go into a good appraisal and we have found that Tracy and Daventry Equine go above and beyond to make sure their appraisals are complete and acceptable even to the IRS! Tracy gives all the information she can about the horse including current and past pictures, competition results, age, health, training, etc. I give Daventry my highest recommendation, even though sometimes they don't agree with me LOL; they are honest with their opinions.

Tracy was great to work with! I had a complicated request for her: my mare had been bred - by someone else - without my knowledge or consent. The courts needed to know how much money I had lost by not being able to breed her myself that year. Therefore, I needed an appraisal on a hypothetical foal - a horse that did not actually exist, but who should have, had I been able to breed her as I had planned. Tracy was a joy to work with from start to finish. I needed two horses appraised for donation to an IHSA and an IEA team. She responded promptly to my inquiry, gave me clear instructions about the process, and used every bit of information I gave her to come up with thorough, accurate appraisals of each horse. Following my marriage breakdown, the subsequent litigation battle included a fight regarding the value of approximately two dozen horses. These horses included breeding stallions, broodmares, competition horses, and youngstock. The horses, worth potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars, were being claimed to be worth only meat value by my ex-wife. As a result, although located in southern Ontario, I hired Tracy Dopko to appraise the horses. She flew to Ontario from Alberta, in the winter, and under challenging conditions (both weather and acceptance by my ex-wife), carried out a complete evaluation of all horses. In addition, she researched bloodlines, competition results, etc. in order to comprehensively determine realistic values. Tracy then wrote an extremely detailed and professional appraisal report, including pictures and references, justifying exactly how she determined each horse appraisal value. Her report was a significant part of my legal documents.

Unfortunately, my divorce battle required a 13 day trial, and I needed expert testimony to substantiate my position regarding the horse values. Therefore, Tracy once again flew to Ontario to attend trial and testify as an expert witness on my behalf. With Tracy's qualifications and experience, the trial judge immediately accepted her as an expert witness, which is critical in the legal process. When on the stand, Tracy provided composed and professional testimony when questioned by my lawyer, and easily held up under the pressure of being questioned by the opposing lawyer. As a result, when the judge completed her written judgment, Tracy's appraisal values were largely used, resulting in a huge win for me at trial. In addition, Tracy's appraisal values also withstood an appeal by my ex-wife against the trial judgment.

Without a doubt, the best decision I made in my legal battle was to hire Tracy Dopko. My father's estate needed an appraisal for a show horse. Tracy did a great job of gathering the necessary information and quickly turning around the appraisal.

We were involved in a highway accident that resulted in the loss of two of our purebred Welsh Ponies. In order to receive financial compensation for these losses, we required proof of value.
