Captain's Table Restaurant

We recently tried the Captains Table after a recommendation from a friend. We all ordered the Captains combo plates and I must say we were not disappointed. Our server was very attentive, pleasant and friendly. The food portions are huge and were cooked to perfection. The fish was fresh, the batter crispy, but moist and flaky inside and the shrimp cooked perfectly. Someone commented that the fish comes out of a box and this is utterly false. I am an avid fisherman and regularly make fish and chips at home and know fresh fish, and their fish is NOT out of a box. In fact I would say this is likely the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in a Winnipeg restaurant since the old Jim’s Fish and Chips closed up over 30 years ago. We would definitely come back again, great service, nice atmosphere, huge portions cooked to perfection, and very reasonably priced, highly recommended.

Nice little spot near the silver heights area, on portage avenue with ample of parking in the back. This place may look like it needs updates when you first walk in. But it makes up with customer service and taste. Enough seating space and wait time is very minimal. We have enjoyed this place and wanting to go back sometime soon.

Stopped in for lunch with my parents. Great atmosphere with a classic sea food restaurant decor. Staff are very friendly and quick at service. Food came out of the kitchen fairly quickly. The restaurant is divided in two. The other side has a bar with vlts, as well as an other seating/small banquet area. The banquet are was full with a large party at the time. I ordered the two piece cod lunch special. Good portion size for the price. The Captain's table has pretty decent fish and chips. The tartare sauce is home made, which is great, but tastes a little to much like mayonnaise. I would definitely come back again. Great experience.

Food was great. We had halibut and fries. Good portions, great service.

Arrived around 16:00 ,before dinner rush ,we were seated in booth ,started with a bowl of onion rings for table then ordered the Capt 'n combo plate of 2 pieces battered cod , dozen shrimp ,half battered/deep fried ,half warmed/peeled with a mound of perfectly cooked julienned fries and a small bowl of tasty coleslaw.
The gals had the 1 piece pickerel with poutine ....loads of food , you don't leave hungry folks.
After dinner we went to the lounge for a bubbly and some VLT s . They also have a couple 4x8 pool tables, a real neighborhood type feel to the place.

My son took me out to eat there as we both love fish. Great atmosphere, the service and food was fantastic.

We all enjoyed our meals! The fish was cooked perfectly, a nice light batter, and was delicious! The fries and coleslaw were also tasty! But the highlight of the meal was finishing off with the huge serving of sticky toffee pudding!! Delightful! Service was also perfect! Attentive and prompt.

Absolute BEST carrot cake we’ve ever had, so moist and the icing is to die for. This is the third year I have purchased this cake for my moms birthday and she’s so happy to see it year after year. Everyone always enjoys it and it will definitely be a must every year for my mom! Ordering is always so smooth and the staff is so kind and welcoming. Overall so pleased with our experiences. :)

This place is always delicious, always consistent. The service is great. Big portion!

Best fish and chips in town, captains combo plate is worth the price. Decor is dated but in my opinion that doesn't matter bc the food and staff more than make up for what it lacks in aesthetic's.

Haddock and wedgy fries very good and reasonable price.

Highly recommend. Very busy at times but worth the wait.

Went here today for lunch with 2 friends and as I already knew from before the food was delicious as usual and service was fast friendly and a wonderful environment and experience. Brought 2 friends whom have never been here before but were very impressed with their food and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Always great to support local businesses and this one I'm sure we'll come back again for more good eats 😀. Recommend this place to anyone. I've known the owner for a long time and glad they are still able to keep the doors open 💯%👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Ordered the clubhouse and fries...wow! Both cooked to perfection! Probably the best club house I've had in a couple years! And the fries were crispy on the outside, but still full of potatoey goodness. Staff is super friendly, fast and efficient...highly recommend!

What a Gem! Our group ordered a variety of dishes and all were delicious, including the Carrot Cake. The Seafood Chowder was amazing and the prices are very decent. The waiter in the Lounge was phenomenal, pleasant and unbelievably accomodating. Probably the best service I have had in decades!

This was my first time here. The first date went great, the food was delicious and the staff were great as well!

Overall, I enjoyed my experience here... The staff were friendly... the food was good, especially the fries. The haddock was decent in size, texture and flavor. Coleslaw was very good. The only knock I would have against Captain's Table is that although the pricing for appetizers and entrées are comparable to most fish and chip places, it's the cost for those little extras that can add up such as $2 for a gravy or $2 for a can drink. The mark up from a wholesale price for these little extras is in my estimation is quite high... That being said, I would probably go back again minus ordering the gravy or a canned drink...

A great local restaurant with outstanding service! We ordered takeout, and after we got home we noticed there was a minor error with our order. When I called to let them know, they literally had someone deliver the item we didn't receive to our house. The food at this restaurant is also top notch, and their sticky toffee pudding is hands-down the best dessert I have had at any restaurant. Will be coming back again and again!

We decided to go around Winnipeg restaurants to try out fish and chips. Tonight we ate at Captain’s Table. It was awesome. Nice and clean. Great food. Nice hot cup of tea. So far the best. The service was great. Good parking at the back of building. We went at 5pm. By 6pm it was very busy. We will go back for sure.
