A beautiful tranquil park in West Gwillimbury! It has several hiking trails, marshes, and a dog park. It was not busy at all when we visited over the weekend. It’s an awesome way to enjoy nature and do some exercise. It has beautiful scenery and feels so relaxing! It’s definitely worth exploring whether alone or with family and friends. Yet, don’t forget about mosquitoes! It’s better to bring some insect repellent.

Scanlon Creek is absolutely beautiful in the fall. I love coming here because there are (limited) bathroom facilities, the trails are well marked, and it has a safe, family friendly atmosphere. There is also tons of parking on the weekends, even when it’s busy.

A very nice winter hike! Went on a weekday and it was very peaceful with the sounds of the birds and the crunch of the snow. Did the blue trail (3.3km) and it was a nice moderate trail with some changes in elevation but pretty still able to walk comfortably. Would definitely want to come back in other seasons and also to check out the other trails!

Paid parking in effect, easy to be done with the app (clear instructions at the parking lot)

Awesome dog park. Has 2 areas. 1 for smaller dogs and it's a smaller gated area. 2nd area is massive with a mini trail. Couple of benches and a communal dog bowl of water. The people who come are super friendly too. There is also a trail path at the other side. There's signs you can see but dogs must be leashed. 5 different trails 3km being the longest. It's great for hikes with dogs, jogging etc. Trails are maintained, and there's bathrooms on some of the trails which is awesome.

Its a hidden gem and there is something here for everyone! Cool trails for walking, birdwatching, picnic, hiking etc. We spent about an hour and managed to explore only some areas. Will definitely be going back!

Excellent system of trails with well-maintained paths and many small wooden bridges where you can get a few glimpses of the running stream.

There were a lot of families and dog walkers. There are supposed to be bird watching trails but we didn't see anything other than two blue jays.

It was a beautiful day and a beautiful hike.

Many routes to explore but not all suitable for stroller - include stairs and steep slopes at times. Good place if you need shade. Kids loved it.
There is off-leash area if you are a dog person

Beautiful conservation park well maintained parking lots. There are 4 lots ( you need to pay online ). If you’d like to go in the winter, you should be prepared and have proper hiking shoes and gloves since trails are not maintained in the winter time. All in all beautiful scenery from start to finish.

Beautiful conservation area with plenty of trails that intertwine. The main parking lot does fill up fast however the other two bigger lots also have access to the trails should you not be so lucky. The trails do get quite busy so the earlier the better.

Great place to hike and/or picnic/barbecue. 5 main trails that intersect with each other. That means you can make the hike as long or short as you want and each time you come you can take a different route. It also has a play area in the main picnic / bbq spot. And a separate entrance for a dog park with 2 fenced areas. 1 for small dogs one for big.

Nice place away from the city !
It is covered with lots of trees. Has really good area to sit and spend time with family. It also offer small dog park too. It has children's area to play around. It offers a bird trail area as well.

The trails here are very nice but REALLY infested with bugs and mosquitoes. We had a hard time when we went in August, so much that we literally had to run our way out of the place. Bug spray is definitely recommended

Havng visited this area on a school trip as a child, I was delighted to discover how much more there was to it as an adult! There are so many different nature paths to take here and the different ecologies are all highlighted. Normally there would also be educational services (such as the aforementioned school trip), visitor center, and picnic areas, but this year those services are shut down. However, with those services shut down it is free to park and hike the paths which is well worth it if you are in the area! There are enough paths to spend a full afternoon exploring and I look forward to returning to explore in the future!

A very nice place for a long walk into the woods and kids friendly as well.. this walking trail is for a family and have multiple trails to choose from…

PS-Wanted to visit early hours pls completely cover yourself from head to toe due to mosquitos and caterpillars… mosquitoes are deadly and if kids are sensitive it would lead to bulging

Great hike, go for the king fisher trail. Enjoy the Cedar forest.
Less parking, but worth it.

Don't forget to use insect repellent.

We randomly decided to go to this park one day just for a stroll and did not expect to see anything special, but we saw frogs and tadpoles, woodpeckers and maybe bear footprints. It's a very quiet park near the city. A nice little getaway into nature.
